I've put my car up for sale with photos on facebook to see if I might get any interest (due to the trade in price offerred being pathetic!). Anyway, I didn't expect interest straight up - but I've got someone!
So I know you have to get a certificate thingy from a mechanic, what else is involved? Changing rego over - which must be some sort of forms.....anything else?
I don't know what state you're in, but here you can just pick up some vehicle transfer papers from the post office. It's pretty basic to fill out and you each get a copy to send off to the dept of transport. Thats all you have to do as far as I know.
If you are advertising/selling it registered, you have to have a safety cert. This should be done before it advertised, so best to get onto it straight away to avoid any hassles. you may also find that people will want to get a 2nd safety cert from their choice of mechanic, but they will normally pay for it..
Then you can get transfer papers from the Dept of Transport (not sure if and where else you can get them), and as the seller, just get the new owners details at handover time, and send it in.
