Does anybody have a Mazda CX-7? Or a Toyota Rav 4?

Hi Ladies,

I know I'm getting wayyyyyyyyyy ahead of myself, but this girl has been promised a brand spanker new car on our return back to living in Aus.

I am LOVING the Toyota Rav 4's or the Mazda CX-7. Over Christmas when we visited Aus I hired a Rav 4 & absolutely loved it. But I'd still like to have a look at the Mazda's.

Does anybody have one? Do you love it? Hate it? What's your thoughts?

Fwiw a friend of mine bought a Mazda just before she had her ds and its so luxurious and she said its a dream to drive. So there ya go. All the best with your move and car decision

Oh yay Raffy!!! It's so exciting!! I can't see us moving back to Aus until at least Christmastime NEXT year, but still, I can start my research right? When are you getting yours???
I hire cars when we go to Perth because DH usually goes up north fishing with his mates & I'm left without a car & it's been a really great thing because I'm getting to really test them out. I loved the RAV when I had it over Christmas. In April when we are in Aus I have hired a Kluger. I'm pretty sure this is going to be too big for me - as Alan already has a landcruiser, but it's still good to try.
The Mazda's just look so spunky on the roads & from what I have seen on the website they are so spacious inside & look like luxury at it's best. I worry that it may be too big as well????
The size of the RAV was perfect for what I want.

I am currently tossing up between mazda and toyota, but a lot smaller car,LOL..

But I love the look of the Mazda CX-7 over the Rav 4, but I haven't done any research on either..

Doing My Best - A really good friend of mine got herself a Mazda 5 (I think?) the sedan style one. It's a small sedan, well not tiny, but not a big sedan like a Commodore. Maybe similar size to the Holden Astra & it's absolutely devine & she is loving her sick driving it. She reckons she will never get another brand of car again - she is devoted entirely to Mazda.

I'm loving how classy the Mazda's look on the road as well. I also love the look of the Lexus RX450 (I think it's this) & at the time when I saw it on the road, I had no idea about Lexus', so I go home & google it & almost fell off my chair when I saw the associated price tag. Lexus is clearly not a word that will ever be in my vocabulary.

I'm not even sure DH will actually come to the party of a brand new car to the capacity of a Mazda CX-7 or a RAV 4, but I have to shoot for the stars right? lol

I lust after a cx-7!!! I want one sooo bad, but DF is very environment conscious and also a bit of a tight arse so its probably never going to happen for me! Our latest new car was a Kia, which does everything it needs to do, was very cheap, is incredibly cheap to run and i guess its ok... but its not a cx-7! Good luck with your DH getting you one, i think you deserve one

Ooooh snap I'm not getting mine til we move back to Perth which is at least a year away where abouts in Perth are you moving to? I can't wait to move back yes I'm the same regarding size. Im scared they will be to big but I'm sure after we've driven them a bit we'll get used to it. Ooooh we are gonna be fabulous 4wd mummas

I love the CX-7 because the body is a rip-off of the Cayenne which is my favourite SUV.

I've spent the last year researching 4wds. I drove the Rav4, ford escape, toyota kluger. Mazda cx7 and cx9, subaru forester and outback, Holden craptiva (and that's not a spelling mistake) mitsubishi outlander and the other one that they sell that the name escapes me, lexus 350, Audi a7, and Volvo xc90 and xc60.

I ended up with a kluger as the best value for money. The mazdas both chew through the petrol something chronic. I also wanted a proper 7 seats which the cx9 had but the cx7 didn't.

If money was no object I would have ended up with one of the volvos but I just couldn't justify the $$. I'm such a volvo driver lol.

Rav4 is nice but small. Could get a station wagon with same boot space for a lot less money. If you're not sold on a 4wd then look at the mazda6 station wagon. Lots and lots of room.

Craptiva? Enough said.

We just bought the cx-7 and it is great. Good for the price, not too large and very nice inside.

LOOOOVE the CX7. My dad had a Rav4 and hated it and ended up getting a Kluger instead. I think the Kluger is better value for money than a Rav because you get the 7 seats, and its a proper off road vehicle with towing power etc. BUT if you're just a city dweller like me, then the CX-7 is perfect. not too big but nice and roomy inside.

As for petrol, you can save petrol by using the manual option (rather than fully automatic), but I have found the fuel efficiency pretty standard tbh.

I have a Rav4 and love it! I only have two kids and its the perfect size for us. But if you wanted more room I would go with the Mazda.

Love our CX7! It does eat a lot of fuel when only doing short trips though - DH takes it to work and we get a bit over 400km to a tank (roughly $70 to fill it). It's efficient on long trips though.

It's not overly big but fine for a couple of kids. Our pram (Baby Jogger City Elite) fits no worries in the boot and two decent sized car seats in the back would fit but three would be a squeeze.

They look great and drive beautifully. We have a black luxury model *insert drooling face*, it's very sexy
