3 car seats in the 7 seater Kluger

Hi all,

Just wanted to hear experience/advice regarding fitting 3 car seats in the 7 seater 2011 Kluger. By the time #3 comes along, DS1 will be a month off moving into a booster seat. Perfect timing I know...

Given that the kluger has the 2 seats and the removable seat in the middle, is it possible to have all 3 car seats in a row? Can I put one of the car seats in the back row instead? I was thinking if this was possible I could get DS1 to move into the back row. He'll be almost 4 and be able to climb up where as DS2 will be not quite two and a bit more unsteady on his feet.

Should I go to an approved car seat fitter?

Two Child restraints are practical across the middle row. With three, the seat belt buckles are difficult to access.
Three anchor points are located in the seatback.
There’s plenty of legroom for the front passenger.
Rear headrests are removable and seats are reclinable.
Noticed the centre positioned booster seat tether strap was getting logged between the seat gap.

if you have to buy a booster for the oldest, is it worth it to get a convertible booster that will go from 6 months to 8 years?

i am in a similar position, and looking at a convertible booster for DS, and either booster or convertible booster for DD (depending on how it fits in my car). If necessary, we can use Dhs car until she turns 4.

Thanks for that HotI. We actually have a 3rd car seat currently in DH's car, but I"m thinking I want to leave that in there for now incase we want to take one of the boys out with one of us while the other stays home.

But yeah I think you're right. I will get a convertable booster seat for DS1, and he could possibly go in the middle as there are three anchor points for three car seats. I'm not sure if the back 2 seats in the 7 seater kluger has anchor points though. Will need to check.

I have discovered that you can also get extension seat buckles, if accessing the seat buckles is a problem.

I use an extension seat belt in my car with three seats makes it easier to get the seats buckled.

I have the 7 seater and can JUST fit 3 carseats, I have the maxi riders so they are quite wide so if you had slimline seats you could fit 3.

The back row doesn't have anchor points but if we have e teas we use an unrestrained booster in the back with DD1 in it, she loves climbing through the middle.

So ZF - I can't have a car seat in the back row because there are no anchor points? Both of the boys seats are quite wide... hmmmm.. going to have to do a bit of research over the next 8 months!

That's correct unless they are the unrestrained type (ie. no anchor strap)
By law if your seat has an anchor strap then it MUST be used.

We have an unrestrained booster but only use it if we REALLY need her in the back.

I didn't look into getting an anchor point installed (or whether it could be done) because we won't be using it all the time & she's tall enough for the other booster.

I don't have a kluger but a cx-9 and have the same issue. Our 3rd row doesn't have anchor points either.

Not sure where you are, but today I called kidsafe wa (I'm sure they're all over oz) as they'd suggested me get a compaq to go with my maxirider and hi-liner, but I tried in the car and found it squeezy.... So I'm going there to get them to test it out for me.

Yeah I think I"m going to have to buy brand new slim line car seats so that all three fit... So much to think about. Will give kidsafe a call too. Thanks for the advice
