Need to find a mechanic

I need to find one that will fix the few things that need doing (ok one of them is major), that is trustworthy and won't rip me off (I know how much approx the whole thing should cost).

Eastern Suburbs preferably, willing to travel.

Any ideas of where to start looking?

Wonder if it's the same guy as my Melbourne mechanic. He goes to Darwin all the time and is brilliant. Won't do anything without your permission, and gives you a heads up at each service of any big stuff that might need doing soon, as well as various price/quality options.

I know a great guy who is reasonably priced, honest and reliable in Bayswater/Boronia. Let me know if you want his details. My car goes to Subaru now but we still use him for DH's ute.
