Hyndai Santa Fe, Kia Sorrento, Territory and Kluger

We are finally starting our research for a new car - YAY!!!!

We have three kids so we need to fit three car seats across the back seat and we are wanting a 7-seater since we are now starting to have to do pick up and drop off of friends and from schools.

So does anyone have one of these cars? Can I fit three seats across the back seat? Does the third row have anchor points? What do you like/not like? Anything else you want to share?

The Kluger it would be possible to fit three seats across the back seat but only if they are slim. Big ones such as the safe and sound meridians/maxiriders are heaps wider and if you had three they wouldn't fit.

The Kluger model my friend has (I think a 2008) does not have anchor points for the rear rear seats (ie the boot) but the newer ones might. The Territory does.

We have the Santa Fe with three seats in the middle row, the back row has anchor points, and you can have one seat up and one down so the pram fits. I love the car, we decided to keep it for longer instead of swapping it over.

We have the territory our 2nd choice was the Santa fe. The territory does have anchor points in the third row love my car it's great!

That's why the Santa fe was our other choice all same as territory but had split seat ours doesn't split

I love my Santa Fe it fits 3 seats across the back and for the size of the car is good on fuel.
I have only heard bad things about territories from people I know IRL, not sure about the others.

What's bad about territories? I have one nothing bad here spend 90 dollars on fuel a fortnight , I've test driven the Santa fe it was great but we got a better dollars deal and trade in from ford hence we have the territory

Love my Santa Fe too. DH is about to buy an iLoad - Hyundai van. We have been so happy with the Santa Fe that we're going a second Hyundai!

DH's cousin is a car dealer and he speaks very highly of Hyundais.

We can't wait to get the iLoad now!

I don't have one on your list, but I have the Honda MDX. Seven seater and bigger internally than both the Territory and the Kluger - two SILs have a Kluger and they both love them.

Anyway, I have six anchor points all up, but I think its actually illegal to have car seats in the rear row? Not sure if that is true or not, but I've heard it enough times now to think there is some truth to it. When we were looking into new cars before I was born and looking at the Volvo XC90 the salesman told us that Volvo don't do anchor points for the third row because there's no point as they're not legal.

In my "normal" backseat at the moment I've got I in an S&S Hipod or whatever they're called, and E is in a S&S MaxiRider. New bub will have a S&S Meridian when she gets here and all three will fit, although doing up seatbelts could be interesting!

I really love my car - very spiff and luxurious - but now that we're going to be having three monsters too I am lusting over the more muppet bus/people mover style. I think as a true seven seater they have significantly more space for passengers than 4WD 7 seaters, and so much easier to get around to all the kids - wherever they happen to be sitting. Not something you need to worry about if you won't be having 7 people, but could be food for thought given your school pickups with extras.
