    A new car coming?

I have my eye on a new car (not brand new, but brand new to us).... This one is black (yeah, great idea where its so hot almost all year round! Not!), and I hope its all that we hope it to be, so, fingers crossed for me please!

If its parked in the sun i haven't noticed a difference between my black car or our white one.

Only difference was how dirty it looked all the time!!! I was obsessed with keeping it clear, unlike my green car now which gets washed when it rains lol

    Good luck!!!

Ooh good luck! Black cars are sexy But ditto the heat thing, I've not noticed a difference between colours, they all get hot lol. It's just a PITA to keep the dirt off!

Thanks everyone. I always seem to end up with white cars. We had a black car once in Melbourne, and it was okay for heat. The Man loves having a clean car, so he will have his work cut out for him up here in the dust! Nah, I had better keep it at least half decent! It seems like a great car for us, will let you know over the next week how it goes (or doesn't!).

    Next!

Well we didn't get "that" car. It was a black tarago. Nice, and affordable. The Man contacted the dealer, but they didn't get back to us, so the Man rang them (two days after sending the email) only to be told "it was sold yesterday" !

    Now, we are looking again.

No more black taragos around, so I have been 'expanding' my search for other cars. We 'only' need six seats for all of us to get around. The Man never wanted to get a tarago, but he has come around to the black ones, still can't bring himself to get a white one, and really dislikes burgundy. I will drive a tarago if its nice. Or anything if its nice. Except he's been looking at a hyundai trajet (in burgundy no less!), partially because it is located close to his sister in NSW who he would send to look at it for him. I'm not sure I want to drive one of those.... This one *looks* like an ok car in the pictures, but still.... A trajet?

So in my searching, I have come back to the (mainly) older cars with six seats (bench seat in the front). Been looking at ED-EL wagons with bench seats too, which I don't mind. Mostly in poxy colours around at the moment, but I can wait.

The one car I have seen that I do really like, is a 1974 HQ wagon.... Standard Kingswood guise, 202, bench seat front, bench rear that has been replaced from something later model (can't tell from what though), gold paint, and LOW. And cheap (for a HQ in that apparent good condition). Looks like a go-er, needs some work though (some motor work I *think*, the ad doesn't make a whole heap of sense); rear window glass is out of the tailgate (but still in the car I think), some of the door trims are off (don't know why, would just put them on for now, and keep an eye out for a Statie interior, or remake the doortrims, hopefully with electric windows). But 1640 kms away from us! So guess that would mean trucking or trailer-ing it back here, which would bring up the cost.... And need more photos... And answers to some questions...

Anyway, this is the kind of car that is the most "me" (and our family).... Put on aftermarket cruise, and aircond.... All good. Just not the same safety bits as a later model car. But with my budget, about all I can afford is one airbag (plus the later body design/crumple zones, etc).

So there is a bit of a question from all that... Need opinions on which 'avenue' I should take; later model people mover, later model six seater wagon (ED to EL), or early model six seater wagon (HQ or XA).

    Thanks car-chickies. x

Out of the budget. If I was looking at imax, I would have probably got a new Carnival. But thanks.
