They come in diesel or unleaded, all wheel drive (only in diesel I think), or two wheel drive. The trim levels vary not just between the models, but between the diesel and petrol. The top of the line (sorry, can't remember if it was the top diesel or fuel) is only a six seater I think (has foir enormous bucket seats in second amd third rows. Some have really nice leather amd wood trim.
Running gear is from the pathfinder (well, a lot is anyway), and there is nothing a reputable mechanic couldn't service on them.
Re compliance of a grey import; buy from a well established, well reputed importer/yard. Part of what you will be paying for is the compliance of tje vehicle here in Australia. I think, from memory of an estima we used to drive, there has to be a plate riveted to tje vehicle, like a VIN, maybe on the driver's side, door opening.
Lastly, Japanese radios don't work here, so make sure you will be getting one that does in yoir agreement.
