As I was reading through some replies in the thread "is it true $1000 per child" I noticed that a few people wanted to know if they would be getting the payment of $1000 for a child they are due to have in the near future...... I am in the same boat as these people so I went in search of an answer and found this in the on the SMH website
"About 93 per cent of eligible families will automatically have the bonus paid into their bank account from December 8. The other 7 per cent are those who elect to receive the family tax benefit in their tax return, and they will get the bonus when they lodge their return. But children born from today will not get the $1000 bonus even if the family is eligible for the family tax benefit part A." (date published was the 15th October 2008) So if you had your bub on or before this date you will get it for those of us due to have a bub we miss out. I am not to fussed by this I am just thankful that God has blessed me with another child.
