    FTB advance?

I was wondering if there is any part of the FTB that can be paid in advance?

We get both A and B and we get it all in a lump sum once our tax is done. Problem is the accountant STILL hasn't completed our tax (only had it since the end of October ) and we've got a few big bills heading our way in the next month that we were really needing this money to cover.

Other than kicking the accountant up the bum (which we have....numerous times), is there any way we can access any part of this?

    TIA

If you log on to Centrelink and hit apply for advance it will tell you whether you are eligible or not. Hope that helps.

to receive the advance payment you need to be receiving fortnightly benefits of FTB. Do you know whether you're current on the system but made a choice to receive zero rate of payment until the end of financial year? Or do you fill in a Lump Sum Claim once your tax returns are done?

If you are current but have opted
for a zero rate, you may be able to have fortnightly payments switched on, which will allow you to receive some payments and apply for an advance. Only thing I'm not sure
of is whether having not lodged your returns for 10/11 will affect this.

I'm sure BG will be able to tell you if this is the case

Hmmm I'd be telling my accountant I wanted all my documents back today and taking them to another accountant, who will more likely have your tax submitted within the week.

You can be current on zero rate and still get an advance payment. But you have to be on the system. It will look at your current estimate and work out what advance you are entitled to. It only looks at ftba. Some people are not eligible. Some are eligible for the minimum amount (160.96) some are entitled to up to $1000 every six months. Having only one child the maximum, which you can get if you have estimate less than 46k PLYS rent assistance, is about 595. It is more likely, as a home owner, you'd Ve eligible for between 160 and 350ish.

If you have access to your file online jump on and check your eligibility. It's definitely nothing like you would get as your lump sum. Having not completed 10/11 will not hinder your application.

Thank you! I don't think we've got online access - we only go to c/l for this once a year and have no other benefits. But I'll have a look.

I've just witnessed DH give the accountant a thrashing over the phone. He's got until 5pm tomorrow to have it done.
