Question Not sure what to do...

Things are very very tight at the moment - bills piling up and x-mas and Bellas Birthday pressies to buy.

DH works full time and I wokr 2 part days a week - my wage pays the mortgage and thats it.

I have over estimated our income for the past 3 years and we always just get our top up at the EOFY.

But Im begining to think that the extra that I would get a FN would be handy at the moment. But Im really scared that we would end up owing CL and that would be the straw that broke the camels back!

I know that our income is over estimated at about 30K over - thats was including my old wage... Im not even sure that would give us much extra a FN??

If anyone could help that would be wonderful!

Your best bet is to go check it out at the centerlink website and use some of those estimaters

Go in and talk with them. Honestly, it's the best thing to do.

There is lots of help you can get - don't feel to proud to ask. There is a (free) service that is available to help you work out a budget - I can't remember the name of it, but we used to refer our clients to it from Housing who were having difficulties (they helped with juggling bills). You can arrange for centrelink payments to pay your phone/gas/electricity as well as getting a discount. Other people who can help are Vinnies. They also have finance counsellors (offered free) who can talk things through with you.

The best thing about talking to them is that you will know that you're not on your own in this. I am forever robbing Peter to pay Paul and can honestly say that I'm over it. Sometimes it's all too overwhelming. If you would prefer to do a budget yourself check out moneysmart.gov.au

the30k overestimate could make a huge difference - or it could make absolutely zip - would really depend on where you fall on the income estimates for both of you combined, and individually for yourself. really hard to know. run the estimator and check. keeping in mind that, if you do drop it, you still have hte safety net of the last five months of being underpaid in case circumstances change
