    When your child turns five . . . .

does that automatically mean that Family Tax B DECREASES?

mine has just gone down by $40. Is that normal?

The Family Tax A (in two parts) has stayed the same.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Yep - max rate FTB B for a child under 5 is $140, which decreases to $97.58 for a child aged between 5 and 15.

    HTH!

FTB B is paid based on the age of your youngest child.

Sure did Gigi. It was a shock to us as well. I had to ring up and ask why we had suddenly lost $40 per fortnight.

it came on the same day as my 2nd rent increase in a year. THanks for the clarification, i had been secretly hoping they had made a mistake.

Does it go down again when they turn 15? Or just when the youngest turns 15?

ftbb (providing you qualify) will stay the same from 5 to the end of the calendar year in which the youngest child either completes year 12 or turns 18 - depending on which comes first
