I was 12 in grade 6. I knew exactly what it was after my mum embaressed my older sister and told everyone (you could see the look on her face). So I didnt tell my mum for about 2 years and after being sick of hiding it just dumped my undies on the floor for her to find. I wont be doing that to my DD. My mum still thinks I was a late starter...ooops
I think I was 14. I remember it was April but not 100% if it was yr 9 or 10. I am pretty sure it was yr 10 though. So would have been about 3 months before my 15th birthday. The only reason I can remember for sure is it doesn't seem right that I was sexually active so soon after if I was in yr 10 when I got them....
I remeber the day clearly though. I was in the last class of the day & felt "wet" so I asked to go to the toilet & my heart just sank when I sat down on the loo. Even worse was I happened to go into a toilet with NO TOILET PAPER!!!! I managed to scoot to the next toilet that did have paper & cleaned up as much as I could & left a wad of paper in my nickers. Then when I got home Mum wasn't home :( only my step dad. I use to get "Dolly" & "Girlfriend" mags & I had one that came with a free pad so I grabbed that & went & cleaned up. I just threw my undies in the bin.
WHen my mum came home I burst into tears & begged that she didn't tell my grandma. For months after mum would talk openly about her AF & ask if I had mine also. Also offered to show me how to use tampons, by which I was so mortified I just said NO WAY. Going shopping with her I use to avoid that aisle because I was so embarresed when she would ask if i needed anything. She use to ask if I needed any Doodads LOL. Both my older sisters didn't share this time with mum so I got to have all the attention mum was just waitin gto share with her daughters x3.
I hope I can mae my DD's feel comfortable enough about it that its not such a big deal when it happens.
LOL I just remembered too, i use to wish for big boobs but without gettin gmy period. LOL
I was in year 8 but I think it was at the beginning so I would have been 12. I was staying over at a friends house and I woke up and went to the toilet and there was all this brown stuff on my undies, I was thinking what the hell happened!! Did I have an accident in my sleep? rofl. So I just changed my undies and didn't think any more of it. Then I went to the toilet later and it was there again and I finally realised. I rang my mum and she asked if I wanted to come home and I said no it's ok pick me up later. Luckily my friend had gotten hers a couple of months earlier so she had stuff for me to use.
I was 12 and found the whole thing very embarrasing. I use to fold and then wrap my pads in foil incase...if it fell out of my bag or pocket it would look like food and not a pad. (my mum bought a bulk pack of unwrapped stayfree pads) mind u, i went to an all girls school...!

i first got mine when i was 11 years old. i was the same got boobs very early it was very imbarrasing at the time
Mine was just after I turned 13.
It was the first day of year 7 for me - of all the days to cope with crippling pain and nausea!!! Mum had prepared me from about grade 5 though.
Not sure if i believe the thing about being sporty delaying getting it thou, at this stage of my life i was runing 3.5km/day in training and also had a horse that i rode, think i may have still been doing swimming squad once a week at that stage too and duringthe summer months i waterskied most weekends so was extremely active... also had to learn how to use tampons straight away because of this!!!
11yrs old for me and still in primary school, year 7. As for boobs still waiting and I am now almost 32 LOL

I didnt get boobs till i was 16/17, was always worried that i was going to be stuck with little bumps lol. But then i started filling out a bit more when i started to put on a bit more weight.
i was lucky. I was 12 about to start high school and it was christmas holidays, on the loo at home.
Had a bra for at least 12 months before that.

well i was in year 7 one day and woke up to find my undies had brown blood in them , i kinda knew what it was and didnt tell any one , it only lasted one day , but then it came back in year 8 , the 2nd term i think and i had got mine and a frined told me she got hers too ... but my mum didnt really tell me about it ... and to this day i still am too embarrassed to tell her if i am in pain because of them or if i have them ... too embarrising ...:redface:
Slightly OT - I also remember being very shocked that I got underarm hair. Have no idea why as Mum had it. I thnk I just didn't realise that the models in magazines shaved/waxed. I just didn't think everyone got it LOL!!
I was 9 and a half :(. I was at my grand mothers place, so I didn't tell anyone. I got my second one a few months later, told my mum who didn't tell me anything and sent me to school (grade 5) with tissues, because my oldest sister didn't have any pads etc, nice hey! Definately not the way I will handle it with my DD.
I would have been 13. All my friends had theirs. I didn't tell my mum for years. It wasn't until she came out and asked me herself. She never talked about any of that stuff. She wa also one that never said I love you, or give hugs and kisses etc. Funny because she does to DS!!!
I was 11 & was wearing a bra before I turned 12. I used to get AF so bad I couldn't move & had to miss school alot because of it. My older sister helped me (6 yrs older) & she also introduced me to tampons as mum only supplied the big old surfboards hahaha

Both mum and i dreaded the day my sister got hers. She has a learning disability and usually doesnt understand pain and blood. But she has handled it really well, from what i know of
My 2 younger sisters have learning disabilitys aswell but they have both managed to handle it really well aswell.
The only issue my mum has with my sister when she gets it is she doesnt tell mum, so mum only finds out once her undies are soaked (She hasnt grasped putting a pad on herself)
And unfortunately she cant go on the pill or anything to regulate her periods because she has epilepsy as well.
Same here! I was in grade seven and some of the girls were really mean (all the time actually) and made fun of it. Mum didn't help much, so I used mum's razor as "I was too young to shave".:
yeah, i was also a late one. i was 15 and a half. i developed early at 12 and got lots of stick from the boys at school...
I got them in the school holidays (January) between year 6 and year 7 so would have been 12.5, my twin sister got them later that year, about August I think, so she was 13.
My Mum didn't get hers until she was 16, but then started menopause early at 40.
I was 8 when I got my first period. I was 9 when I got them regularly (it was about 9 months between my first & 2nd)
WoW i was a real late bloomer i didnt get mine till i was 16 and im still waiting for my boobs lol, i have to have babies to develop any and then they vanish when i stop breast feeding.
I was in year 6, i was 12 and i had massive boobs for my age! (still do woo hoo!!) lol
I was twelve, and boobs came about the same time. HATED both. :( I didn't tell my mom for a very long time. Just snuck the pads down to my bathroom and washed any stained underwear by hand before throwing them in the laundry. I don't know why. Strange really. She had told me a little about it before hand, and I had read plenty myself, so I wasn't shocked or confused, but I still was absolutely mortified whenever it came. I hope I can find a way to make it easier on my DDs.
I was 11, last day of grade 6. It's actually a funny story ( wasn't at the time of course ), I told my best friend and another overheard me and decided she would tell everyone! Ended up being a huge fight between all the grade 6 girls and half of us ended up in the principals office! When asked what it was all about I had to step forward and say, to the male prinicpal, 'I got my period and "she" told everyone"! How stupid! But I'll never forget that day, all those years ago.....
I was 13.. I got mine the day before my uncle died (he was like a 2nd dad).. will never forget the date!!! 4th march... my dad told me he had a present in the car for me.. when I went to the car & looked it was a packet of pads LMAO.. I was gutted.. so much for a present LOL...
As for boobs.. I think I am going to have to buy them if I am to ever have boobs... I never increased in size even wehn pregnant LOL...
I got mine on christmas day! and I remember my brothers paying me out saying, as if that's santa got me. It was between year 7 and 8 so i would have just been 13
I was in Year 5 so 10 years old. I had already had "the talk" from mum because she got hers at 8 or 9 years old (REALLY EARLY!) and was expecting the same for me. It had been a while since the talk so I didn't realise/take much notice that morning what was going on and just went to school (pretty clueless huh?). Mum turned up and got me out of school mid morning on some pretext because she had done the laundry and seen my undies!! All I can remember is, the next day, feeling like everybody could TELL I was wearing a massive pad just by looking at me :redface:

Good Friday in the year of Gr7 (I was 11yrs and 5mths). It was late in the evening and my Dad and I were watching the end of a B&W movie on TV. I told him (I wasn't worried) and he woke my step-mum up to talk about it! (I was his only child... poor dad!)
Did you know, the worlds youngest mother got her first period at the age of 8 months, they were regular by the age of 2. Scarey hey!! She had her first son at the age of 5. Poor little sweet heart.
Makes my 9.5 years seem old, lol!!

at my school the stupid immature little buggers used to run around and if they managed to "swipe" you or get close to your bussom they would say "woo hoo, im in your club!!".
Ah reminding them of that now infront of their wives/girlfriends etc is so much fun - they go bright purple!!
@ mummy mel - that story is a very sad one - the lil girl was (if we are referring to the same case) impregnated by her father. God what i would do to someone like that.....
