When I had my first BT done I think i was about 12DPO & when the results came back they were only something like 135 & the doctor told me I was "only JUST pregnant". Maybe you had the test early like me & the numbers were abit low. I went on to have a healthy baby boy so low numbers to start with doesnt mean anything bad (unless of course they're "too" low, meaning a negative result)
Good luck next week. Can you ask them what your HCG levels were? That way you can compare to the next results & hopefully see a nice rise in the levels....
Alana - maybe its very early on too get a high HCG reading on the blood test??? im not too sure - but the HPT definatly has 2 lines there!
When is AF due?
Hi Alana, Please don't stress- I had the same thing with my pregnancy. The line on the test was very faint, and the hcg levels were low- about 26. (the home test will, I think, pick up when it hits about 10). It just means you are only in the very early stages of pregnancy, and things are a bit risky still.
The hcg levels double evry 24-48 hours (if I remember that correctly). I think they consider it a sure thing once you hit 400. By next week, your level may well be up there at that
:stickyvibes:
Hey alana,
sounds like the HCG levels on the blood test weren't high enough for them, it doesn't mean anything.
Take another HPT first thing in the morning when your levels are at their highest and see if it's darker. Sometimes the levels don't show up until closer to 6 weeks, I've had 5 and they've all been different. Fingers crossed for you, my intuition says you're pregnant.
Like the other ladies said, you are still very early to be getting a blood test. Sometimes the doctor orders a qualitative test that just comes back postive (25 miu +) or negative (<5 miu) and there is weakly positive / uncertain in the middle. Perhaps this is what happened? The other test is a quantitative test where he measures the actual hcg level in miu. Mine was only 56 at 14 DPO, so don't worry!
