Hi, I am getting ready to enrol my DD in 4 year old Kinder for 2013 through the local Glen Eira Council booking system. I have to shortlist to 3 kinders and I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations. We are in Carnegie and I will be putting Carnegie as our first pick. Also has anyone had children attend Serrell St Kinder in Malvern East?

I am also looking into 3 year old kinder but it seems I am really behind in applying and should have done this last year. I had no idea I had to be enrolling so long ago!

Ormond Community Kindergarten on Grange Road is very popular. That is one of our choices for DS. They have an enrolment day next Friday the 7th at 12:30pm

I don't know how far you want to travel, but there are a few really well-known kinders in Bentleigh and also Mckinnon Kindergarten is good too.

I'm not sure about Serrell St, but they are not in Glen Eira so you'd apply separately through Stonnington Council and I believe you wouldn't be given a high priority as you're not in their "zone". Unless of course you work in the area??

Thanks for the heads up regarding the open day next Friday. We will definitely attend. I think I will be putting down Carnegie, Murrumbeena and Ormond Community as the 3 preferences. I need to visit Murrumbeena kinder.

Arghh!! So sorry Katiegirl, the enrolment day is tomorrow at 12:30pm, not next week! And it's for 3 yo kinder. We're going to check it out as I'll be applying for enrolment for 3yo in 2013. As far as I know there is an extensive waiting list for 3yo next year, but you should try your luck anyway, as parents put their children on many waiting lists and won't necessarily accept the spot. You'll need to bring $10 as well. Also, I'm pretty sure the lady I spoke to said they have these "enrolment days" quite frequently - possibly once a month? So don't stress if you can't make it tomorrow, give them a call and ask when the next one is. Just gives you a chance to see the kinder in action, ask questions and put your name down on the waiting list if you want to.

In regards to 4yo kinder, applications just go through glen eira council as you probably know anyway.

Someone recommended Murrumbeena to me as well but it's a bit far from us (we're in Mckinnon).
