How much does Occasional Care cost you?... and other questions...

So I've just tried to ring a few occasional care centres near me and they were both closed for school holidays.

Can someone who uses occasional care (preferably in Melbourne) let me know how much it costs?

And is it usual that during the school hols they close??

How long are the sessions you use?

Do you like it? Does it work for you? Why did you choose this instead of Long Day Care?

my kids don't go to it, but i know that the one down the road from us charges $20 for a 3 hour session (9am-12pm) and $30 for the 5 hour session (9am-2pm). my friend uses it and absolutely love it

Some friends from MG use it. $15 per hour, max 5 hours per session, max 15 hours per week.

They use it as they work from home and really like it.

Zoe goes into OCC at diamond valley sports complex while I play netball, it's $5.30 for an hour- but I think it's about $25.00 if you want a permanent 3 hour stint.
I could look up the exact price if that is near you?
The one up the road from me is $15.00 for 3 hours, but no where near as good as the DV centre, which is excellent.

Is the DV centre near the library Em?

That's why I want it FabFi - to enable me to work from home. I assume all those prices are per child?? So if I had two (three) in it'd be double (triple)?

Does it qualify for any of the rebates?

Not sure Hun- near the big round about?
Right near the council offices.
Most places offer discounts for more than 1 child.

Both my boys go to ODC we are in Frangers. It costs $16 per sess, or $15 with CC. There's not childcare rebate. The sessions are 3 hours 9-12 or 1-4. They are closed in school hols.
I'm a SAHM, so longdaycare doesn't make sense for me. I have no family support and a shift working DH, so ODC gives me a chance to 'catch-up'. Usually boring groceries or cleaning.
I booked DS1 in when i was pg with DS2 and they now go together for wednesday and thursday mornings.
ODC is a bit of a misnomer, but i like that if we have something on then i just ring up and then i don't have to pay. Even if i've paid in advance, they just hold it until next time.

My boys got for 5 hrs a week. Centre my boys go to is 0915 - 1415 5 days a week during school terms.
Can book for max of 3 sessions a week, on a casual basis or per term.

Term fees are cheaper I was paying $33 a session for just 1 and once both were going it came to $28 each per session paid up front per term or half term. (discount is applicable for more than 1 child in centre or if you have HCC)

Can get a small rebate but not the 50% as per CC as its a registrerd not accredited or something like that.

OCC funding is up in limbo at present due to bloody govt so there may be NO OCC in vic next year or very few and $$$$$$$$$$ still waiting to hear whats happening.
