We're looking for care (3 days per week) for our 10 mth DS near work (Kelvin Grove and the Valley) or near home WIshart/Upper Mt Gravatt. FDC preferably but a quality child care centre is fine! We've been on waiting lists for FDC for a while (theres a few on the southside), have started DS with a carer but I am a nervous wreck leaving him there (she's very vague!). Unfortunately she was the better of the two options we had for FDC! I'm kind of shocked that this is the quality of care available for babies in Brisbane. The centre in the city we were going to put him in had a definite military vibe about it..I don't think poor DS was going to be cuddled to sleep there!
Sorry this is a bit rambly, still in shock after seeing my DS teary face when I picked him up this afternoon ..
When we lived in brissy our boy was going to YMCA in Windsor. It was fantastic and from what I saw the babies were treated according to their own needs (if they needed to be cuddle to sleep they were cuddled to sleep sort of thing). Things can change a lot in 2 years though so I'm not sure wha tthe centre is like now.
Just wanted to say hugs to you, its really hard putting them in care even when you are happy with the place.
It took me a long while of looking at so many centres to find a place I was happy with, they are out there . I would trust your gut feeling if you don't feel confident with a carer.
good luck in finding the perfect carer for your son.
