Child Care - Knox or Glen Waverley area

Hi, I've just recently joined BellyBelly forum. This is my first pregnancy and am currently 33 weeks pregnant. I know this is a bit soon, but everyone keeps telling me that I need to get into the Childcare waiting list as soon as possible, even before the baby's born (this is a bit confusing for me )

Can anyone help to recommend a good chilcare around Knox or Glen Waverley area in Melbourne? Thanks in advance!

I have only ever used council run child care centres or family day care run by the council. Try calling both Knox Council and suss out the child care centres. You can put your name on a waiting list which I recommend you do fairly quickly cause they dont' often have many places free, particularly if you're after full time care. I liked the look of the Park Crescent centre in Boronia, but go and have a look for yourself. They will be happy to make a time for you to visit or for you to just drop in.

Thanks Rachel. I'll give them a call first thing in the morning.

Hi Aglinra, welcome to BB! There is a fantastic not-for-profit childcare centre in Bayswater which I have sent my DD to for over 3 years and my other DD will be going there next year. Its called Our Lady of Lourdes Early Childhood Centre in Orange Grove Bayswater. The staff are fantastic and I couldn't recommend it highly enough. I found it through word of mouth and couldn't be happier. Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

Hi Mel, thanks so much for the valuable info. Bayswater is actually a bit farther from my home, but I really don't mind the extra travel as long as I know my little one is in good hands so I will definitely contact them.

Have a great weekend to you and all Belly-Belly members

I'll have to remember that one Mel. I hadn't heard of them but they are so close to my home! (not that I need it yet but I'll file it away for another time)

Hi - there is an occasional care in Tyner Road (opposite knox city) that has a good reputation and I have also heard good things about Park Crescent child care.

With my two, I have used two ABC centres in the area (not at the same time !) and we have all loved them. The women who whork there are lovely and they can tell you everything your child has done, what they've eaten, how often the poo, how long they've slept.

You need to go and have a look - you will know what feels good and what doesn't once you've seen a couple.

    Good Luck.
    Barb.

I have just stopped working Fulltime & had my youngest princess in Family day care through Knox Council...
I was happy with my experiences with them...

They fill in a log book so you know exactly what they have been doing etc..

I agree with both Barb and Tracey.

We had Viv in FDC when she was in Kinder year - 4-5yrs and her carer was fantastic. She did so much with them - all the kids loved being there.

Also when you go to a centre you can just feel by the vibe of the centre if it's the right one or not.

    Good luck with your search.
