My little boy is 2 and i'm planning to go back to work 2 days a week. Any recommendations (or steer clear advice!) on any day care in Freo or Cotteloe, claremont, nedlands etc, Basically I work in subiaco so anywhere between freo and there would work probably. I want really a high quality, small one if possible! Also, what are usual costs? Do you get what you pay for in general ie are the more expensive ones any better? I'm SO nervous about this step so any advice would be greatly appreciated as I want to find somewhere I am comfortable with.
Try a family day carer. They will care in their homes, with a small group of kids, feed them decent food and have a much more 'normal' day.
give Bright Futures (9236 4120) a call and they will inform you of the carers in your area with placements in your area.
I need to explore family daycare a little bit more and that number helps so thank you! However, at this point I'm more comfortable with the thought of a daycare, can't really articulate why. I think it's that DS seems to really like the idea of going to "school". I thought that I would be way more into family daycare, but at this point that's not where I'm heading, wierd huh?
I did go to see one called Cottesloe child care centre, which was lovely! They only have 20 kids and it was so nice, DS said he would like to go to school there... oh and they think they might have a place in 2013!!! I'm going to see some more, but I might just have to work around delaying going back to work and hubby caring for a bit if nothing looks as good as that one. I should probably look into family daycare in a bit more detail though.
When does he turn 3? If he is keen to go to school, you might like to look into Kindergarten. It is a bit odd over here, but there aren't too many 3 yo Kindergarten's around, they don't start til 4 over here (a PITA) but I did find one for my daughter, as she was the same way about wanting to go to school!
Anyway, PM me if you want the details, it is a private kinder, so costs per term, but it is all covered by the CCB and CCR etc and is an amazing kinder. They do 3, 4 and turning 3 year olds.
Thanks Limeslice, Actually we have looked into 3 yr kindy and put his name down for 2 different ones, so hopefully one will work out. He's not 3 until October though and I was hopin gto go back to work 2 days a week early next year. Also the hours are pretty short, 2 half days per week, and I;m not sure we could manage picking up dropping off etc if I was working, so I was wondering if a daycare with a good educational program might work better. Having said that, I am now feeling pretty crappy about the whole thing. i went to see one yesterday that smelt of pee and I hated, so no closer to finding the answer! How much do nanny's cost?? haha probably not an option!
Worth checking out just to see, but google "Perth Nanny Care" - they have a FB page as well, and do everything from casual babysitting, to full time live in nannies, mother's helpers or housekeepers.
Good luck with it all I had a bad experience with CC centres with my eldest, I won't be going back there again, so for me any other option is worth exploring.
Sorry to butt in on the thread but could I please have some PMs with the 3yo kindies in that area as I'm in a similar situation - but won't be moving to the area until early next year so don't know what's available. Thanks
