Centrelink wants me to 'register' my DD for daycare?? how do i do this?

Is that right? or did i misunderstand what she ment? she said to go online and do "something" and obviosuly i cant remember what this something is haha!!
Im thinking of putting my DD in daycare one or 2 days a week, DH isnt keen at all so am trying to get all information, as to what rebates/benefits we're entitled to.. but she said coz DD isnt 'registered'(maybe?) that she couldnt really tell me anymore..

You need to be assessed to receive CCB - child care benefit. I don't know whether you can do this online or not - BG will know for sure. You need to have this done before you can have an percentage given on your income and then the centre can tell you prices.

She should have been able to do it on the phone with you. Weird. Most of the parents we have do it over the phone!

Anyway, to do it online, presuming you are already registered online, you just need to submit a claim.
So umm I think you go to online claims then submit a claim and then it will get you to tick for CCB etc...

Centrelink couldnt tell me anything til i had enrolled the boys...

Most daycares have different fees to each other so when the daycare gives you details to give to centrelink (although I think now adays they are linked up so you dont need to) they can tell you what your child care benefit will be etc

Fees might be $70 per day but you get a % back - but it is really confusing to me how they work out the %...

If you are not receiving ftb, you need to claim online

If you aren't already, you need to register yourself

Login, go to the menu option
Apply for a payment
Make a claim
Parent or guardian option
Then child care benefit for current year

The % is off the government set scheduled fee.
So I think currently it is 3.68 per hour - so if you are eligible for 70% it is 70% of $3.68 per hour.
Childcare is [generally] 12 hour days - so the set benefit in maximum per day would be $44.16.
70% of that is $30.91 so that would be your CCB paid as fee reduction making it $70 - $30.91 = $39.09 per day.

It is confusing, and I have so many parents that are on 70% thinking they only need to pay 30% so I understand.

Once this was true, but under the new system, you don't link to an actual centre, you just register your child and that applies to any centre.
