My trip to the uniform shop - soooooo worthwhile!!

DD1 will start pre primary next Wednesday and DD2 kindy the following Monday. Because its a private school they have uniforms, and the policy is strictly enforced, even for little ones. Their uniform at this age is shorts and polo shirts with the school logos on them (they are the sports uniform for older kids).

So today I went to the uniform shop at my appointment time with DDs in tow. Its a mere 40 degrees out here today so it was a delightful day to be going out anyway. DD1's shorts from last year are too small for her, but too big for DD2. DD1's shirts are just ok, but she only has 2 and this year she will be at pp 5 days a week so needs a couple more. They have NO FRICKING UNIFORMS!!!! The idiot woman who runs the uniform shop said she didn't order any new stock for this year. So, DD1 tried on the smallest sizes of the shorts and shirts that she did have. The shorts come down to her ankles and the shirt to her knees - to which the idiot woman says "oh, they all wear them big these days" I left Mum with the kids in the change rooms and went to look through the second hand stuff and there wasn't anything there either. Asked the uniform woman what my kids were supposed to wear when they start school next week and she said "oh, I'm not really sure". I said "no, seriously. What are they supposed to wear" and she just shook her head and said she didn't know.

So, if any of you see a news item about two little unloved girls going to kindy and pre primary wearing just their knickers, don't worry. They are my children and they are much loved. They're just unable to be clothed

What in the world possesses a uniform shop NOT to order new stock for this year??

Your poor DDs! Do you know anyone else that has children there that may have old uniforms that may fit?

Can you contact the school and let them know?

Also, I would complain to the uniform shop. Why would they not order new stock?

    very odd

Yes, I would go see the principal and let him/her know what has happened. No doubt you will not be the only one who will be caught out.

That happened here too. It's unbelievable
I am lucky that I had a 2 shirts and shorts for my boy already because my cousin couldn't get any for her girl so thankfully she's roughly the same size as what my boy wears so I could lend her a shirt and shorts. I was going to get some more this week... lol. not anymore.

    Some too.

Nope, not Bertram. Hopefully you'll be safe Limeslice.

I'm guessing there will be a lot of little people without their proper uniform starting school over the next couple of weeks. Hours later and I'm still stunned at the lack of planning. I just feel so especially sad for my DD2. She is so excited about starting kindy and has been counting sleeps until we went today so she could get her "kindy suit". The poor little poppet walked away with a hat

I've spoken to a couple of other mums that I ran into at the shops and they're in the same position too, so we're all going to buy just plain polo shirts and shorts - one of them had already spoken with the principal for primary levels and that was the advice. The silver lining is that we'll save a fortune on uniform costs!

Huh? Didn't order uniforms? Right. Hope you can get something sorted for them, but i am sure you cannot be the only one in this situation
