It was gorgeous. The kids sang to us and all the mothers were there and there were more than a few sneaky tears when they said "I love you" and then "give your mum a cuddle" in the songs. We all had to do row row row your boat together. It was fun and funny and very special.
We don't 'do' Mother's Day or Father's Day or Valentines Day, but i think today made me realise that they can be so much more than just a waste of money and a retailers excuse to sell you more stuff you don't want etc.
I loved today. It was very special. DS1s kinder and especially the teacher are wonderful.
If every mothers (and fathers) day was just like that then you could celebrate it every year. It sounds like a wonderful way to celebrate.
My gifts that my girls make are my absolute favourite things, could not want anything more.
Lenny - how special is it?? I am pretty keen on not buying into all the commercial hype of such occasions but the joy the kids get out of making something special and doing a show/concert for you is super amazing. We have been hearing lots of practice runs here behind closed doors!!! Happy Mother's Day to you!
I just think the kinder did a wonderful job of the day. And no mention of gifts or, going on a day out, or anything. She asked if the kids would like to make their mums breakfast on Sunday. It was so nice.
Oooh this sounds lovely! We have been "invited" to the first half an hour of DD's kinder session on Friday for some "mother's day pampering - BYO hairbrush"!! I hope it is something similar! I'm looking forward to it now.
DD's kinder is doing a special friends morning tea the last 30min of kinder ob Friday.
No idea why it's not a mothers day morning tea but I'm looking forward to it, DD2 will be with me so it should be fun.

That sounds absolutely gorgeous Lenny. I would definitely have been shedding a tear or two. I love the idea of that sort of celebration, rather than the ridiculous commercialised nonsense - heard an ad on the radio today about buying your mum what she really deserves, that being a diamond and pearl pendant!!!!
My girls are making cards and little extras for me at kindy and pre-primary this week and they are so excited - they come home each day after whatever the latest thing to add to it all is and tell me to "close your eyes Mummy while I whisper to Daddy". Their enthusiasm and excitement at doing something special for me because they love me melts my heart. Last year the card DD1 made me was without doubt one of the best presents I have ever received in my entire life.
We had DS1's Mothers Day morning tea this morning, yummy scones the kids had cooked and very cute songs sung to us, very very special xxx and...the most gorgeous thing...the kids love doing all the mummy day things so much it just melts your heart.
I have a Mother's Day celebration at DD's preschool tomorrow and I'm so damn excited I can't wait. I'm been looking forward to it all week.
DD & DS have both made me a card and a little present each and they have hidden them in their rooms. They were so damn cute coming come from preschool & child care busting to tell daddy that they had a secret card for mummy and they had to hide. They just melt my heart.
The cards they made me last year are still sitting on my bedside table. I can't wait to see what my cards look like this year especially since DD can now write her own name.
We had mother's day at DD's kindy today. The kids painted our nails, brushed our hair and massaged our shoulders lol! It was so cute. I have green and pink nail polish which I had to swear I won't take off (even the bits on my skin lol!). Then all the kids sang us a few songs and gave us cards and a bag that they decorated with their hand prints. Seriously adorable
I got home on Monday to DD waving around a red laminated card. It had a photo of her on it, with a little poem:
Mummy, I love you
For all that you do.

On this Mother's Day.
DD&DS have been sneaking around finishing up presents. Miss Young Adult has been taunting me that she knows what it is I love it. And I'm so glad you had a lovely day! xxx
We've done a number of different nights over the years - we had a pampering one with foot massages/soaks and hand cream. We did a makeup and hair one with nailpolish as well one year and some interesting eye shadow! This year we did a rainbow theme - come in a rainbow colour - we had rainbow coloured activities - necklace making, white playdough with magic colour in the middle, rainbow cupcake icing and I put drops of food colouring in plastic cups and when they poured in the lemonade it changed colour!
I am glad to read here just how much mums appreciate these days/nights we do!

Ausgirl - yes, the mums love it. And appreciate it. It's fun and I hope it sets lots of kids up to realise that gifts and love don't have to come from a shop to be the most important and beautiful. Brushing hair and massages and pasta necklaces - that's the real deal!
