Childcare start age.

Hi I am just wondering if anyone knows is there a starting age for daycare for babies? I attend uni and can't miss any labs as I am studying nursing and the on campus childcare centre has said they can't take baby until she is 6 weeks old. Does anyone know if this is a government policy or would it just be there policy?

Centre where my kids go advertises that they take baby's from 6 weeks, I have heard of other centres that are 6 months.

It is up to the individual centre when they apply for their licence to operate what age they choose.

Most centres that I know of are licenced for a minimum of 6 weeks of age. Centres vary but I've only ever heard of one that takes bubs under that and their minimum was 4 weeks.

Just thinking about it I imagine that 6 weeks is the age because bubs aren't vaccinated until then.

The youngest I've heard of is from 6 weeks. And lots of centers have very long waiting lists. You could check if family day care take younger.

Same as everyone else, I have only heard of centres taking babies from 6 weeks +.

Yowie's suggestion of family day care is good; I had Pie in daycare from a very young age and would not have felt comfortable putting her in LDC.
FDC is much more adaptable to your child (IMO) and with fewer children, there are fewer germs floating around. Just a thought.

have you thought of asking the uni if you can have bubs with you while you do your labs?
