Beema :hug: I'm sorry that you've been going through such stress with your DD being ill :( I really hope that she recovers quickly hun and that it's a very short stay until you have her home again.
I think you did a wonderful job at home from what I've read in the thread, and I know that you've done everything you can to avoid the stress of another hospital visit for your DD.

It was a long night, as often nights in hospital are...
She finally did a wee, 7 hours after arriving and that went of for testing and came back as a positive for infection, but as there is the risk that it can be just from something on the skin and not an actual infection we had the option of another bag (which with her being a tummy sleeper was likely to come back the same, or to insert a cathetar (sp?) and get a sample directly. I chose that, even though I was keen on the invaisiveness of it, we would have highly likely had to do it anyway and the bag was just as distressing for her.
The result came back clear, but it has still gone off to the lab for testing.
We stopped the fluids through the NGT at 7am, and we are going on an oral trial of fluids at about 9am, we tried to get panadol in this morning orally and it took 20minutes and she was spitting it out the whole time, it was a very messy process, but we were hoping to lubricate the throat a bit.
It may be tonsilitis, but we aren't sure yet, there are a few things that are confusing the Dr's so it may be a bit of a mystery at the moment, but the rounds should be here by about 9-9:30 so they will hopefully provide us with more information.
She is a lot chirpier this morning now that she has fluids, but it is going to be getting them in orally that will be the challenge, we have a bit of everything to try, and if we can get the fluids in orally, at least 22ml evey 20min, while it doesn't sound like a lot, if you saw how hard it was to get the 4ml of Panadol in then you will understand we will be able to go home, if not she will need to be kept hydrated via the NGT.
She has tears this morning as well, while it may sound horrible to see her tears when she is crying is really good, as last night she didn't have any.
Cross your fingers for us that she starts to take fluids orally so we can go home to the comfort of our own house.
Sending healing thoughts, Beema, and hoping DD can hold down those fluids orally as soon as she is able :pray:
Make sure you have some time to take care of yourself to, hun. It's really important that you are well and being cared for too. Is there things that DH can take over at home whilst you are in the hospital?

Dh has been brilliant the last two days, he looked after her while I went to work as I had someone over from Melbourne that I couldn't cancel and he did so well, he tried so hard and I think he really feel like he had failed, but we both tried as much as we could :(:
They are now thinking it may be a delayed reaction to her immunization 2 weeks ago :rolleyes: I think they are really stumped as our we... her throat is red but not bad, tonsils inflamed a bit but once again not bad, no diahorrea or vomiting - except for when they put the NGT in, and no more old blood is coming back up the NGT so that is good :)
No luck with the drinking yet, she is sleeping atm but we are going to have to wake her shortly as it has been 6 hours since we stopped the NGT fluids, so if she doesn't drink we need to start them up again.
I have a bottle from home and we have an array of drinks and cups, custards ready to go, in hope of intising her to drink something :D Surely one will work. We are letting her sleep as long as she needs to, even though it risks the dehydration again, because if we wake her it will shift her straight back into a negative cycle, as everytime she has been woken here something "bad" happens or upsetting.
We are going to give it a really good shot and if it doesn't work another round of the fluids, then we have to wait it our and trying again.

She drank some milk, just enough for us to come home :leap:
I am a little concerned with the suppositries, we did a lot this morning and 45min after she screamed and cried, a real blood curdling scream, arching her back and completely inconsolible, until she fell asleep. I didn't think that it was related to them, then this afternoon we gave her another dose just before we left, and 45 minutes later the same thing, I had to leave her on the floor and just lay down and just be there for her, she was arching her back again, crawling all over, but haphazardly, rolling, writhing in pain, it was a very painful cry.
Has anyone seen anything like this before?
We are going to try her next dose as an oral dose, but if she refuses we will have to go and get some suppositries as we really really want her to drink more.
If we find that we can't get the fluids into her again, we take her back tomorrow, her Paed/Dr team are on again @ 3pm, I just hope she hasn't developed an aversion to all the different things we tried earlier to get her to drink. As putting her through it all again would be terrible.
I am pretty tired, not a lot of sleep, especially as we got setup at 10:30pm in a room (private which was nice), with hourly OB's and the proceedure at 3-3:30am to collect the urine and resettling after each thing it was pretty exhausting. Then up at 6am for the day for her with napping/playing/getting upset and worked up all morning and afternoon.
I am hoping for a good nights sleep all around tonight :crossfingers:

Nappy has been bone dry for the past 7 hours, we could only get the suppository as a 125mg done and she was on 185mg in hospital, and she has drunk 100ml since 1pm and that is all. We have already spoken with the ESS (Emergency Short Stay), I just don't want to have to take her back through it all again, it was a horrible night last night, just horrible.

I've never used suppositories for DS but hope she takes the oral dose OK. Here's for a good night's sleep for all.
She refused the oral dose, we tried letting her do it, going gently, in the end holding her down, what ever went in came straight back out again. So I had no choice but to use the suppositries :(

I really hope that the pain and severity passes really soon so that she can start to take fluids and medicine again in comfort. It must be so difficult right now. Sending all my healing thoughts, hun :hug:
