Anyone had issues with infections as grommets fall out?

DD2 has had grommets for 14 months,2 months ago at her check up, one was dislodging while the other was still in place.
i had her and DD1 at the GP last week for fevers, GP said ears were pink and gave ab script but to hold off for the time being.
well she ended up needing them when she spiked a high temp a few hours later and can only assume they quickly went on to become infected.
SO he said both were dislodging and 'not doing much' im concerned that we might be heading down the constant ear infection route...
has anyones child had infections as the gromments dislodge??

no but step mum did. It happened very quickly after they were put in though (a few weeks). She ended up having them out and re-done.
