Dd2 is 5 months. She is exclusively breastfeeding.

The last couple of weeks she has had occasional smelly urine. It is still clear, but very strong smelling.

I took her to the doctors last Monday and they asked if I could do a dipstick test on a wet nappy. It has coloured up for Nitrates in her urine, no blood and a small amount of pus cells. I can't guarantee when she did the wee in the nappy, so I am not 100 percent certain there wouldn't have been bacteria already started in the nappy. It would have been changed within 2 hours of the last though.

Anyways, now I have a sticky bag thing in her nappy trying to catch some urine for the doctor so they can get it properly analysed. 1st attempt she pooed. second time dh put it in and it didn't stick properly and she only got a drop in there and the rest in the nappy now I have the last one I have in and am hoping for the best. Fx!

However, she has no fever, is drinking as per normal, it quite happy and content as per normal. Dd1 has had a uti before and she was really ill with high fever. She had the smelly urine too. Dd2 just isn't ill apart from a cough that she's had for a while.

What else could the smelly urine be from? I'm at a loss. I really hope she doesn't have a uti. I feel like a bad mum if she does have one, but we honestly change a poo-ey nappy as soon as she does it. I change her wet nappy as soon as I realise. She has a bath every day.

Is there something completely innocent that the smell could be from?
