can you give panadol 3 hours after nurofen?

i know this has probably been asked before...
DD has a high temp and double ear infection, she;s just had nurofen and will probably need something before bed in 3 hours, is it ok to give it after only 3 hours and not 4?

    Yes, it should be fine.

My doctor told me if you are going to give both then you should alternate them 3 hourly. Panadol is a dose every 4-6 hours and nurofen every 6-8 hours, so the 3 hour method gives you the best of both.

Hope she gets better quickly, poor little mite must be feeling awful!

I would think so. It is okay for adults to have both at the same time because they have different active ingredients.

    Hope she feels better soon

As long as no more than 3 doses nurofen and 4 doses of panadol in any 24 hour period, you're all good. So if you're dosing over night, don't forget to add those in.

Yep, what the other girls have said!

Hey Olive. Yes it is fine. but you will get a much better, stronger, and longer lasting effect giving the two together. They are safe to have at the same time providing you don't exceed the maximum dose in the 24hr period.

Alternating the two medications actually cuts short the effect of the one given at the earlier time.

Hope your wee one is better soon.

They can be given either at the same time or spaced
Out, so we were told recently when DD was in hospital with a shocking dose of tonsillitis...
They actually said to give them at the same time for the best affect for DD
