Flu - Dont leave it too late - please!!!!!!

I know most of you know what has happened to little V over the last couple of weeks, after catching the flu, starting off with just a croaky voice to a slight cough to a wheeze on her chest in a matter of a couple of days.
Although I had V checked out at the DR the day she started her cough, all was still ok, until the wheeze started overnight which had me back to the Dr's that morning. Now as you may be aware I am so glad I did, as I had to get her admitted to hospital that day and over the course of the day had to site and watch my baby girl deteriorate before my very eyes. Little V ended up in intensive care for a week and was on life support in induced coma for 5days. Thankfuly V was lucky, especially after coming so close to losing her life to be home now after 2weeks in hospital.
Now I dont want to alarm anyone, but I just want you to be mindful of what could happen especially to your little bubs as they are the ones that find it alot harder to cope.
I watched V gasping for air, trying to breathe and the fear in her tiny eyes wanting mummy to help her. It truly was heartbreaking.
So please if your little one has any sign of the flu, get him/her checked out, and if you are still concerned and the Dr doesnt feel as tho there is any need, get the hospital to monitor him/her just to be on the safe side. What happend to V was just so quick, I would hate to think what would have happened if I hadnt had her checked out at the Dr's at all, and we were all asleep when she was having trouble breathing. I very may well have lost her.

V had also made it onto the news last week, so I have pasted the reports for you to watch as it really is a bad year for the flu not just the swine flu. If this can help just one person then V and I will be happy. Hugs

I am so sorr you had to go through this. I am sure it has been a traumatic 2 weeks for you and your family.

Alibaby - Thankyou for all those prayers it definately worked. You know I just felt she wasnt herself the day she was admitted to hospital which again was a reason for the Dr's. So glad my motherly instinct was working...

Feeb- Thankyou hun, she is my little princess.

Marlene - I didnt think that week was ever going to end, need alone that night. It was so sad watching it all and loking at her eyes. I honestly felt so helpless, it was just horrible.

Lisa - I am so sorry for your scare you had with whooping cough. I hope your little one is alot better now.

Dianne, thepixie, ubba, lsk - Thankyou all so much, I just dont know what I would have done if it didnt turn out the way it did in the end. It makes me shudder with the thought.

Oh sweetie, how scary for you and little V. Glad to hear she is on the mend.
I too have had a freak out about flu's this year as what we thought was a flu turned out to be Whooping Cough. We're all much better now but it was definitely scary.
