Enormous, random egg sized lump on DS1 (2yo's) neck?

a boy at school had this, took about three weeks to clear up.

Took DS to our local ED and they started talking the big C.

NB: the paed we saw today (who was really, really lovely) said that these are actually incredibly common and are not worth worrying about - absolutely worth checking up to confirm that's what it is, but they're a stock standard thing, and the most harm they usually do is to parent who see it and immediately think "tumour" :o ... so she's told us what to watch for, what to do, what would occasion a return visit, and when it should start shrinking, and when it should be gone.

So if your kid gets one, by all means take them to the paed or the ED, but breathe while you do. :)

So glad to hear you got a good paed! I know how easy it is to panic esp when the visiting go made it seem like the problem was something more. Once you hear it "something", it's hard to kill the idea isn't it?

So glad the abs are working and it was something straight forward :)

Its scary stuff aye? DS4 gets lumps all the time.
He had the works surgery done last year tonsils, grommets, adenoids, biopsies and they also removed one lump that just wouldn't go away.
Apparently he is just one of those kids that his infections affect him there and he is currently sporting another lump at the moment from a sore throat a few Weeks ago.
Be prepared for them to come back again but at least this time you know what you are dealing with.
