Glandular Fever

8 weeks ago my 5 year old daughter was very sick with a fever, sore throat, fatigue, swollen glands, etc. At the time the doctor just said it was a run of the mill infection and gave us antibiotics in case it didn't clear up on its own, the prescription for which we didn't fill as she started recovering.

A few weeks after that she started getting hives, which have been getting worse and worse. I eventually took her to the GP last week (6 weeks of student placement on top of work and uni meant I didn't have the time or energy to worry about it) and blood tests have shown she has had glandular fever. There's no way to test when she had it but from the history it seems like it was 8 weeks ago when she was so ill.

I'm just wondering if anyone else's child has had hives following GF and when they settled down. She is on zyrtec twice a day which is calming the itch but she still gets big blotches all over the face, body and arms almost constantly and it would be good to have some sort of a timeframe. The doctor has said 3 more weeks of zyrtec and then a review but I'd love to hear from someone whose child has been through this.
