    HELP! Re Gastro

Brendan has gastro again... last time it was just the runs lasted about a week he had about 2 weeks break and then he got it again, just the runs again for about a week.

This time however, he has so far only had one poop (*TMI* a very sloppy watery mess that went everywhere..) but he is constantly vomiting and unable to keep even water down.

I'm wondering how long is too long with regard to vomiting? It started about 7pm last night, so has been 14 hours now.

Hes not himself, quite lethargic... paler than usual... having trouble with balance (more so than usual, has an ear infection atm too) He doesnt appear to be dehydrated... yet.

Sally, DS had gastro a few months ago with horrible vomiting. It lasted for just over 12 hours, then he was good for 12 hours, then had another big vomit. Dr told us it wasn't a bad thing for him to be vomiting for 12 hours, stop for 12 then have another one or two chucks... obviously as long as he wasn't getting dehydrated
HTH a little, and your little man is feeling better asap

    Hi Sally
If the vomiting does not stop soon and he is not able to keep some fluids down soon then I think a trip to the hospital would be a good idea

Just spoke to my sis for you about your sons illness, she is a nurse and a midwife. She said it sounds like a great idea to take him to the hospital especially if he cant keep water down and is still vomiting. Little ones can get dehydrated very very quickly. I hope he gets better very soon and I hope I didnt say anything wrong, since I dont have children of my own yet, just wanted to help you a little in some way.

    BIG DS gastro is awful

I agree that a trip to the hospital wont hurt, especially if hes not holding down water.

    Hope he gets better soon
