    Temp when to worry

My 3.5yr old DD was not well this afternoon and her temp shot up to 39.2° when taken under her arm, I gave neurofen and she went to bed.
An hour later her temp is still 38.5°...it is not coming down much.
I have sponged her head, light clothing and blankets but not much is making a difference.
    When should I worry?

Lots of people will say different things... I would be a little concerned and keep a close eye on her with a temp like that... (and definitely take her to the Dr's tomorrow, if not sooner, if required)

    *Hope she gets better soon*

It's important to take temperature as just one of many symptoms to consider. Personally I would worry if her temperature was 40 and was not responding to medication, but if she seemed very distressed then I would worry a lot sooner.

childrens temps can go a bit higher than adult temps before drs will worry, my son had 39.4 and the GP didnt have a reaction at all!, just keep an eye on her, maybe ring 1300 Health? sorry I am not a paeds nurse!

    Thanks.
I am going to give her some panadol in 10min so hopefully that should bring it down further.

at a temp like that, that didn't seem to be coming down, I would be keeping an eye on it and even call your local hospital or there is a 1300#. yes... the joys...
