Jacob has been unwell now for 3 days. At first it was just a runny nose (clear) and 4 teeth coming through ()
Then the day before yesterday his temp went up to 38+ dosed him with panadol, other than being a bit more grizzzly than usual and having an extra day sleep, he was his normal self, then that night temp went up to 39, more panadol, screaming, restless, wouldnt sleep, checked him all over for rashes, there is none, ears seem fine.... was ok yesterday, still snotty and grizzly, only 2 sleeps during the day, gave more panadol when temp upped again, I have been up since 4am, he screamed for 2 hours after another dose of panadol, 2 of the teeth have now cut.
I dont know if this is making any sense....I am soooo tired right now...... anyway, should I take him to the docs now? I was assuming it was just a combination of a cold and teething, wasnt that concerned about it, this is really the foirst time he has actually been sick.
TIA xx
I would take him, especailly if he's teething, has a temp and is screaming. That was the same combination that sent us to the dr many times when my ds was young. 90% of the time he had an ear infection that we didn't know about. He would never show classic signs like pulling at his ears.
I agree. I have had so many Drs say to me over the years that teething doesn't cause a temp - although I tend to disagree, from what I have seen with my kids a mild temp isn't unusual, a lot of the time with DD1 it was an ear infection. And a temp that high , I would get checked out, especially as it has been a couple of days.
Hope he is feeling better soon
yeah it wouldnt hurt to get him checked out. It does sound like a combination of teething and a cold. Poor little bubba. I bet u are exhausted xoxox let me know how u go at the doc
thanks for your replies guys, we went to the GP this morning, he has an ear infection, in both ears! the right is worse he says, also has a red throat. Put him on ABs, and 4 hourly dose of panadol. poor little guy, he must be in so much pain!
