Strong Scented wees

Hi All,
Our 4 and a half month DD has just started with a really doing wees with a REALLY stong smell. Not sure of the cause. Has anyone else heard of or experienced this???

She is bf'd though I had to use formula for a little while over Christmas to supplement her as I couldn't keep up with supply. She is feeding consistantly at the moment.

It depends on what it actually smells like. The two main causes though are UTI and dehydration. I'd make an appointment with your GP to get a pathology slip and special collection bag and test to be sure it isn't a UTI. If it is, Antibiotics will clear it up fairly quickly.

forgot to say...shes doing heaps and heaps of wees so maybe a UTI???

sounds likely. Make an appointment with you GP and they will give you a special bag that goes over her vagina (ask for a couple as I hear a lot of people have trouble with them... or get the GP to put it on ) and then just take the spec either back to the GP or to the pathology centre and call a couple of days later for the results. We always get the quickest results in getting a spec by letting DD have nappy free time.

Is she very unsettled as well??? I would say a UTI but def check it out with GP

what type of smell??
often teething children will have a very strong amonia smell to it

Yeah she is unsettled.
Umm...smells like....don't know what to compare it too....
