    Undescended testicle

DS, 5 days, has an un descended testicle which I got told is normal.
But, I was wondering how long it takes for it to come down?

    Thanks!

    Undescended testicle

Ds3 had his testicle down by 2 weeks I think, my MCHN checked for me (also he has hypospadias do she was popping in check up on that too)
All I was told that it was normal and could take some time to descend down.
Sorry I can't be more help xx

As long as by 2 they are down more than up. And that they come down at times. Try checking in a warm bath. As the cold will make them hide lol

A true undecended testicle can come down any time from now until 2 years I believe. I think it is after 2 years that they look at intervention as leaving it undecended may cause fertility issues (may be before Im not certain as we dont have personal experience with these ones).

Testicles should have a certain amount of up and down but should be in the scrotum when warm.

My DS has retractile testicles which is different again and a variation of normal where they go up and down and sometimes leave the building entirely (thats where the concern lay) which can sometimes be mistaken for undecended testicles. We were told they should remain down by 7 or intervention may be necessary for the same reason.

Both undecended and retractile should be checked 6 monthly from what we have been told. Again, no personal experience with undecended testicles though. Both your Gp and MCHN should be able to tell you more information about what is standard practice in your area.

I know a little guy who had surgery at 19 months for it, so it might be earlier than two years now?

In the 80s, my little brother had the surgery just before his 3rd birthday.

My nephew had surgery for it at about 15 months from memory. Was only a day procedure.

One of Buster's was undescended at birth, pretty sure it was down by 2 weeks.
