poor little mite. im glad he is feeling better.

I was sound asleep lastnight when u posted this.. but i would have given some nurofen. I prob wouldnt have gone to the hospital, but if i was worried, i would have rang the nurse on call or something. Fever is a good thing remember, its the bodies way of fighting off illnesses.

Yeah, I wouldn't be worrying about the allergy diagnosis any more, unless you get a reaction next time he has cows milk.
Honestly, I would've done what you did. Stripped him, dosed him up & kept an eye on him over the next day or so.
I was at the hospital for you last night My baby man has croup. Would've been there right when you were posting!
Sorry to hear about Jesse & your long worrying night with a visit to the hospital. Looks like there were quite a few of sick bubbas last night!!!
    Hope everyones better today

just keep in mind that most viruses flare up in the evening, through the night, so although he may seem okay during the day you could have another few nights of sickness.

personally i would be keeping the neurofen use to a minimum unless he is totally unreasonably distressed by the fever. fever is the body's healing system

Hi, just letting you all know I'm taking him for a second opinion as he's been crying again most of today with a fever but is refusing his milk, when I go to feed him once the teet goes into his mouth he pushes it away & starts screaming... like a painful scream. So he's only had his morning bottle at 7:45 this morning & a bit of vegemite toast (& a bit of water, not sure how much he drank because he plays with his cup & most of it ends up over the table so cant tell how much he drank)

He's really not himself. I also had to rock him to sleep as he just wouldn't settle, I was like a prisoner in his room, as soon as I stopped rocking him (in his cot) he would get big eyes & check why I stopped, eventually I was able to sneak out.

Just thought I'd let you all know

I am so glad you are going for a second opinion. Its not worth leaving these things when you know something isnt right, espeically when little ones are concerned. Let us know how you go sweety. How is Tobias's temp now?

its a virus, just have to wait for it to pass

The Dr said he has alot of fat in reserves & not dehydrated at all so not to worry if he doesn't eat or drink his milk for a few days... he'll be right....

Just hoping it passes quickly because I'm not good with constant whinging & its really starting to get to me

Oh I hope he gets better soon.

Just wanted to say that my son went off food for 3 whole weeks recently & pretty much only had bottles & the bottles were clearly hurting him so he often didn't finish them.

His was teething (3 at once) & had two different viruses (one of which started as a rash around his mouth) but at the end of it all he just went back to normal & didn't seem to suffer any from not eating for so long.

    OMG when will this pass???
He sleeps well at night (slept through last night after finally getting to sleep about 10:30 or 11) BUT just cries all day... he's crying now from bed. He wont drink his milk, he wouldn't even eat his toast this morning. Just pushes everything away & CRIES. I cant stand the constant crying when I cant do anything to stop it. Holding him doesn't even help. It's only day 3 of this damn virus & it feels like it's never going to end I just want my happy boy back

Sorry for the sook... I'm just so over the crying here & needed to get it out.....

Cheryl, thanks for stopping by, I only wish I had a better reply LOL

Wow, sounds like the poor wee man is having a terrible time.

Are you keeping up with his pain relief? Paracetamol or ibuprofen will make his sore throat feel better and that in turn will probably improve his general disposition.

Sweetie... I have just had a week of DS with the flu and hear your pain. I reverted to baby comfort foods, like apple custard, and pured pear, and DS would eat a couple of spoons of that. I also did the panadol and nurofen, and lots of baths to keep his temp down. We had lots of cuddles, and night garden.

One thing I found was DS likeed drinking cold water from the sippy cup, even when he would not take anything else, as I guess the cold water was soothing on his throat...

Hang in there. I can only guess how hard this is for you on your own. Can your sis take Bri for a day to give you some help?

So so sorry DM, I was hoping for some better news. I hope this virus leaves soon huni, for the both of you. Its hard the constant crying. So lots of for you. Does he seem to be getting worse to you? It is worrying with him now pushing his food and bottle away. Have you been able to get any fluids in him at all?
Lots of get well vibes for Tobias.

He drank some cold orange juice this morning so Ruf you're prob right about the cold water, I'll give it a try when he wakes which shouldn't be too long away (yes I finally was able to rock him to sleep) I guess it is soothing his throat.
I'll try & get out today & buy some custard for him, I'll stick it in the fridge so it will be nice & cool on his throat aswell.
Hard to say if he's getting worse. It looks like the spots are fading now but the crying has gotten worse. The doctor said he'll be fine to not eat (including his milk) for a few days so I'm trying not to worry when he doesn't eat... its so hard not to worry though!
Hoping this is near the end of the virus. It's amazing how long 3 days can seem when your child is so sick
I'm going to try & sneak a shower before he wakes up.....
