Best nappy bag for cloth nappies?

I ordered a nappy bag off Ebay ages ago, and it looked heaps big (can't even remember the name of it now, but it was a browny colour )

Anyway - its crap. Doesn't fit my cloth in there. So I just end up taking an old backpack - which we hate cos the keys ALWAYS go to the bottom, or my phone, and its a PITA scrounging through the bag to find either the keys, or my phone, with a kidlet in my arms.

So which ones are pretty funky, and are good for cloth nappies?

One of the girls on OzEBaby I think it is makes one called a plus 1. Missy Mel has one and would probably be able to confirm.

Jols has one too, and I *think* she's pretty happy with it. I've read the NC girls raving about JuJuBe, and I really like my Isoki, apart from the fact that it's on the heavy side, being made of canvas and metal zips, but that means it's a lot tougher than most other bags.

I'm just using an Urban Originals tote bag. Not a proper nappy bag, but they come in beautiful prints and are HUGE, I fit all the kids stuff and mine. It has two side compartments where I put my phone and keys and another zip compartment on the other side. It also has two side pockets on the outside which I also use for keys etc at times.

Google Urban Originals and have a look at the website - although I must admit I've found MUCH groovier prints at a local shop that stocks them than I've seen online. I'm onto my second (sold the first one to a friend cause she saw it and loved it so much), it is red and has owls all over it. Luuuuurve it. You can also get matching purses.

I use a Fisher Price "bowling bag type" nappy bag. around $55. bought at Target in baby section where nappy bags are.

started off using knapsacks/backpacks. the ONE BLACK HOLE that everything nappy disappered into - did my head in. Every time i wanted to change bilbs whilst out, i had to virtually empty ENTIRE DMM BAG to find ANYTHING! grrrrrr to the max.

the bowling bag is not perfect, but a huge improvement.

i tried alot of nappy bags, by taking them off the shelf, laying them open (taking out stuffing) and literally putting in what i would put in for an outing, to see if they did the job or not. Most did not, most only fit disposables, not MCN.

it helped me work out what was important to me (in a nappy bag)
- zips or magnetic buttons to close
- bags that open right up so you can see at a glance, what is there
= separate compartments (not one big space)
- big space to put wetbag when full
- somewhere to stand up water bottle
- small secure pockets for essential stuff
- elasticised pockets
- not too deep
- good to have straps long enough that will go over pram if needed
- washable or wipedownable
- no PVC (fumes give me headaches)

the bowling bag has zippered external pockets on each side of the bag. (2)
the main section has a double zippered panel, inside this section, on each side is a compartment (3)
so i have the big main compartment left empty save for a wetbag
i store spare set of clothes in the internal compartment pocket 1
i have another internal compartment pocket 2 which i kept spare wraps, spare prefolds for nb stage, and spare nappies at later stages.

external pocket 1 has lots of separate pockets, great for Mum's Survival kid stuff
e.g breastpads, lipbalm, purse, phone etc

external pocket 2 has a divider for two sections, i keep the clean nappies in there

the bottle pockets at each end of the bag, i keep water bottle in one, snacks in tupperware cube containers in the other.

No funky print, just a serviceable black or red to choose from.

I think Julia Martinez is a name on ETSY that makes very FUNKY nappy bags and you can request stuff you like specifically.

I got a Gr8 expectations backpack duo which is really good. Bottom compartment fits in 4 MCN + covers. Front compartment holds wetbag. Main compartment fits multiple changes of clothes, 2 net pockets fits babylegs / socks / shoes / hat / spare formulae. And insulated side pocket for a bottle or some water.

The smaller bag is great for shopping centres, I put just a wetbag in it and a nappy and go back to the car to refill...

oooooooooooh yes missy mel DOES have a Kirrily Plus 1 Nappy Bag and I luuuuuuuuuuurv it!! It's so lush and it fits EVERYTHING in it and the matching change mat, wet bag and wipes bag get lots of compliments!! Oh and you can change it to a backpack, take both bags or just 1! It is the best money I have spent so far on ANYTHING! Oh and did I mention you get to pick your own fabric??
It's got a thing on it for your keys too!! So no more lost keys (or you can get a matching key fob for $15)
