Fluffy Mail!! Thanks Maz after my wash load is dry, you may have something if you want it. I have a BBB that popped a snap, so no use to me, but you can have it!

We are all sickies here. The GP said to give Jovie cough syrup so she could sleep, but its caused diarrhoea. Yuck, so her nappies are lovely atm.

Gigi - I'm with you, I'll have to start thinking about training pants etc... the one thing is we have some size 3 "undies" that are terry & have extra layering in the middle. They leak like mad when there is a wee, but thats what we used with Matilda. I think we may still use them with Jovie.

    WOHB: BBB & PUL cover.

PINK - i found great info about MCN and chilcare centres on the Bubblebubs site. It gives you links to the relevant Children's Service Act in your state. I printed that out and also the "What is in a Disposable" link on the Nurture Nappies site.

had same situation as you, got told NO WAY, but i insisted and then was told, no worries. The day to day staff were brilliant with the MCN, it was the admin staff that had the (initial) problem. As soon as i said "But under the CHildren's Services Act . . . " they folded liek a house of cards.

At our first CCC place, the staff wiped the children with wet flannels.
At our new CCC place, the staff wipe the children with wet paper hand towels.
At both places, they shake whatever they can into the loo (i provide flushable liners) and the rest is rolled up and put inside the wetbag i provide.

She has been the only child in MCN at both places.

So with 12 ply 100% wool, and lanolised, i doubt it could be the shorties. Sounds like the nappy might be the issue. My bub sleeps in 16 layers of bamboo, sounds alot doesn't it?
What fabric is the 12 layers your bub is in?

Katones - expecting a bub, it's hard to know EXACTLY what size they will come out, so i would suggest you have a few different sized covers in prep - to work it out when bubs arrives. Just don't wash them all, keep tags on, so if you try them on and discover they're too small for your purpose, you can exchange/get refund etc. This is much simpler if you have NOT washed the product, and only briefly tried it on.

AnnaBelle - baby beehinds site is esp good at explaining the wash n care routine. There's alot to take in at the start of the MCN journey.

WOTBB: she's at childcare today, so when i left her at 1pm, she was in a PUL Swaddlebees pocket with cotton velour inner. Sidesnaps.
For the childcare worker, i label the front of the nappies (with a label that says FRONT). LOL. Otherwise they get put on back to front.

Just thinking out loud - with regard to CC centres - what if you provided disposable liners would the staff there be prepared to just peel them off and pop them into the bin for you??

Just had a thought.... The nappies I was looking at on ebay (110278883304) what was the problem with them that everyone saw? Just so I know what to look out for. Also would it work to buy cheaper pocket nappies from ebay & then get decent boosters to go in them? Or wouldn't that work?

you'd still be looking at the same price as buying a fairly decent pocket babe.

there are Ittibitti d'lishes for $21.95 (AIO) at IB atm..they are great..we have 8 *gulp* medium's and 5 larges...im personally thinking about getting some more fitteds like the boo's cause I find them a great fit (but they need a cover)

Kimbaz is having a sale at her store..check out what she has to offer...I know she has Bum G's and although they dont work for us (due to the materials) alot of the girls swear by them.

have you checked your po box today honey

No I haven't had a chance to get down there with Zander having a cold & it being freezing here today. I'm hoping Aaron gets home before they close at 5.30. So it looks like Ittis are the way to go from all my research, it's just such a big outlay at once to get her into cloth full time. I guess I'll just have to go slowly & get her there gradually.

    Sarah
I bought 10 x baby cheeks seconds on ebay for $117. SO about $11 a pocket nappy and they are fabbo!
No insert as i did what you suggested and bought bamboo and made inserts.

THey often come up on ebay - i will see if i can find their store for you when they have a dodgy batch but mine were all perfect - just like the IB delish seconds... cant find the faults their either.

Sarah, that's what we did. I brought some stuff before he was born but wanted to wait and see what worked and fitted us best. I highly recommend BumGs, we have 10 and they make up the majority of our stash but must admit...I'm slowly falling in love with our IB d'lish...thinking about getting a few more, but this is only because he is in the large size now and we won't have to buy more as he grows. I definitely prefer a OSFA nappy for this reason. I don't want to be buying new nappies every time he goes up a size (with the exception of a few show offs like BP )

Also, a lot of the sites have layby so you can buy now and pay them off gradually if that works better. I've done it a few times now and love it.

In hindsight, I wish I'd used a chunk of our baby bonus to just buy them all, but had Ob fees, IVF debt etc...

Sarah, Maz is right. You really are best getting a well known nappy. You may pay a little more to start with but in the long run.... The nappy you listed from ebay seems ok, but its a matter of the fit etc.
Now I will admit to something I am ashamed of LOL, I bough a 3 pack of these 300248062491 the other week It was $30 for 3, I thought ah what the hell I will give it a go. They are crap. I didn't even take them all out of the packet. I simply emailed the seller & arrange to return them. The seller was great no faults there. She doesn't make the nappy so didn't know too much about them but really it was soooo not worth it.
Your best to build up your stash with a few good known brands that you may need to buy new & then find what you like & snap them up cheap on buy 4 baby & or swaps.

sarah, I bought most of my stash when I was about 35 weeks pg with Emily. So it really put a dent in the wallet, but I bought everything on sale, and saved quite a few $$ as I got discounts like free postage etc.
Like Maz said, you can get Itti Bitti's on sale atm, and today I bought some more baby beehinds magicalls which are on sale as well (the old style).
At least if you buy a brand that's reputable, if it doesn't suit, you'll be able to re-sell it quite easily.
And if you're unsure of what style/sizing would suit, I'm always happy to send you something to try out before you buy. I have itti bittis & magicalls in small & medium, and bbh bamboo fitted.

Annabelle - i know Melham has a few AS NEW Baby Bee hinds bamboos that she is wanting to pass on - you could PM her and ask about them!

BTW - out of curiousity... WHO used lanoish and WHO used Spray on lanolin?
Does one work better than the other?
