Hi again, we are progressing to full time MCN use yay! DS has been in cloth all day. So far it has been Magic-Alls and I have a question about them...they seem to be leaking through the front, right through the outer layer. THis is the first time it's happened. I've just been using the bamboo insert that comes with the magic-alls. Do I need to use another layer in the pocket or am I just doing something wrong?
WOHB: Magic-All white
nelle where using the potty!!
well i got 2 lots of fluffy mail :)
Got my itti bitti (purple medium) not sure if i like the colour :( is very bloody bright!!!
& i got my fluffies from FJ!!!!! OMG they are simply the cutest ever!!!! soo tiny, i am sure our Jack will look gorgeous in his fitted Jacks FJ!!! with his Maz cover :) simply cannot wait for my boy to arrive...
DYEING and SALT
does it work AFTER you have done the dyeing, or only if you add the salt at the DYEING process? I put in a cup of salt AS i was doing the dyeing (it said to on the back of the DYLON bottle).
How much salt do i need?
to add to a washload of altready dyed stuff? or to soak in a bucket? for how long?
thanks in advance - i REALLY don't want to have to separately wash these things (for weeks) if i don't have to.
the vinegar soak didn't do much as far as i can tell. Now i'm all confused, if i didn't read about the half vinegar/half water soak from this thread, i have no idea where i DID see it. i thought this was the only forum i looked at where people like to dye stuff. argh.
FJ - i worked out the LILY thang, love it, what a lovely personal idea, love it.
Pink - what a crackup, to hear you talk of knitting being slow! you sound like the fastest knitter ever! i'm sure in the last few weeks, you mention you're starting to knit something, then (it seems to me) your next post, put up link to photo of finished product! i think you are Super Knitter!!!
Kazbah, "baggymail" - that's a good one!! Hope you post pics of Angus in his cowprinty stuff!
Welcome back Lil Precious! Looking after sick kids takes alot out of you.
Queen M - no hon, i was not bagging you out for knitting somethign unusual, i really meant it sincerely! Now i am awake up to wool being wonderful for ALL sorts of things, that pre-baby, i didn't know it could do, my mind is much more open to "the wonderfulness of wool"!!!
Alioops - thinking of you, hoping you're ok
Raven - the little squirt DOES take some getting used to. The lever is so sensitive, it took me a while to work out how to get to HALF without squirting myself to kingdom come!
Caleb sounds a brilliant eater - at Fasta Pasta, i can get bilby to eat exactly ZIP. shakes her head "NO WAY" to the free bread, our garlic bread, the cheesy macaroni, our meals.
All this talk of toilet training - another chapter begins heh? I THOUGHT bilby was becoming toilet aware, for a few days she was patting her nappy when she did a poo. But now, she keeps doign that even when it's not true, so bang goes that idea.
WOTBB: she's at childcare, so PUL Swaddlebees pockets with organic velour inners.
She's up to her 4th childcare worker in 9 days (meant to only have ONE primary caregiver there) cos HER worker is on holidays. So each of these FOUR workers have coped with the MCN just fine. it can be done - if the will is there. Thankfully our childcare centre has that "will".
Nessa - i'm going to attempt to put my antiquated overlocker in for a service this afternoon, hope it's ready in time for our sewing day, this coming Wednesday - i have SO MUCH sewing to do, i have no idea where to start!!!
Maz - i'm with you, would be interested in IB boo seconds too, but if i saw them, i would let you know ASAP, now i know you're after them for M.
If anyone has medium or large PUL swaddlebee pockets with organic velour inner, selling 2nd hand, please email me at g.j@internode.on.net
Got told again today, "you should wean her ASAP" and "don't you give her cow's milk? why not?" - grrrr, why does it feel like everyone disapproves of a 21 month old being BF? :wall: I don't comment or judge those people for what they give their bub, so why do they feel the need to judge me! it's not like i'm giving her crack cocaine!!!
I repeat my question about the meetup
i thought it was Sept 13th, is it Sept 6th now?
COuld somebody let me know please?
FJ - I ended up ordering 3 small & 3 med
ETA - Gigi - the PM i got said the 13th
I have NOT bought any of the Itti Bitti's in small i will just use flats and decent covers over them til we get into the ittis... although i do have some small nappies for when bub is NB so shall use them aswell... and now after getting my hands on some of FJ fitteds.. i am in love....
Laranna - Have you washed them enough times to increase the absorbancy of the bamboo>
and perhaps you may need to change a little more frequently?
I havent used the Magicalls as yet. I have a few in large for DD but they are way too big :)
GIGI - when i have only 1 pair longies and 1 soaker.. . everytime they are wet i think damn i need to knit faster! lol.
And as for the weaning... what idiots! I am putting DD back on breast in her cup at night in 2 months (when my milk comes back in)... DH thinks it grose but i dont care that is what it is there for!
Well i got my very last pay check for the next 12 months so unfortunately NO MORE FLUFFY MAIL FOR ME :( sob sob. I will have to do with the 60+ mcns/prefolds i already have.
Going to get a mattress this weekend and set up DD's big bed... any one reccommend a brand that they like?
WOHB - BBB + PUL
PP - yep I washed and dried them 3 times before using them. DS was only in this one for about an hour and a half...is that pretty normal for cloth?
I hope its not the 6th Gigi cos I won't be here!!! PMSL...you'll all have to let yourselves in!
Re the salt thing...you use heaps probably a 2 -3 cups to a laundry tub as a rough guide and you can add it any time even to bought clothes if they run.
Have to share my poosplosion experience last night....... we have a save water thing here "if it's yellow let it mellow" philosophy. Well go to do number 2's late last night so obviously have to flush this time but the toilet got blocked!! And it was the ensuite toilet and hubby was already asleep in the spare room cos of his bad back...... so I think okay I will leave it till the morning and get him to plunger it then.......think again...the smell brewed and permeated into the bedroom...BY 3 am I could stand it no more and had to get up and go find the plunger and spend an hour tryng to unblock it...was very gross brown poohy water!! No joy so at 4am I end up waking up hubby to crawl into the spare bed with him and he decides to get up to have a look...what does he do to the toilet which is half full of water? He flushes it! Water and pooh all over the floor!! Fifteen miniutes later he finally gets it unblocked so now I have spent today bleaching the bejeezes out of my ensuite to get rid of all the nasties....eeewwwww grosss!!!!!
Laranna - yeah usually 2 hrs i change the AIO's - the fitted with a wool cover can last me up to 4 if neded.
You will find after about 10 washes they will be heaps better! just keep in mind and change regularly and you will notice they can each time last a little longer!
Cool thanks PP :) yeah he was in a BBB with a PUL cover yesterday and that lasted almost 4 hours...
Wow I must have a relatively light wetter.
Laranna - so good to se eyou in here hon. get your hands on some IB's for future down the track if you can...they are worth their weight in gold.
gigi - might be able to help you out babe
ahhh kids...anyone want a 6yo and 8 yo atm...driving me INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WEll the cheapest i can find the soap nuts is at baby eco store. 500gm - for $21.99 delivered...
should i get that much or trial first?
nelle??
melbel - at your toilet episode!!!
All this talk of IB's on sale, I'm sooo tempted but I can't. I'm waiting on fluffy mail as it is. Then I think I'm done with buying nappies :( I just need to offload my smalls now.
Maybe I'll have to have a third baby
Doooo eeeeet Jodi :p
Well I can't buy any nappies at the moment. I can't even buy milk (not that I need it, went shopping yesterday) as I have a massive $5 in my bank account. What a week of bills I have had!
