Hey ladies! Yay I can post! Had to kill some time in chat while I was waiting... turns out I have nothing interesting to say though!

Got my "Mama mail" yesterday, well, half of it anywho (ordered from 2 different stores at the CP shop), they are cute! Never thought I'd say that about pads but there you go lol.

    I googled 'flongies' 'cause I am onto my new "thing"... knitting has fallen by the wayside (suprise, suprise..!) & I'm sewing now. I made a sleeping bag for the Punk - she's wearing it now & I am super proud even if it's a bit dodgey... it's lined & everything... that's what I wanted snaps for. ...ah I digress!! SO, I googled 'flongies pattern' or sumant & look what I got;
    https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...es-56-a-5.html

SO WEIRD seeing Gigi asking for info, Raven asking what flongies are, even FJ, obviously pre-FJ snap in flongie making lol. The upside of finding that is that then I remembered that I had had this urge before & the wonderful Gigi had emailed me a tonne of info which I then searched my inbox & found (thanks again hun!!) so yay - will be making some tomorrow night or friday.

Maz - DP came home this evening & says "So how much is this baby expo going to cost?!" and when I said "Free." he was so dissappointed... he was in the chemist & picked up a bunch of free tickets lol, thought he was saving the day!

To the girls wanting to know how many MCN to get - IMO too many are never enough! Seriously though it depends on how often you do/want to wash for a start... I have over 35 & still run out but I am one lazy SOB. When things look dire I have about a gazillion terry flats to fall back on.

My top 5 nappies are (in no particular order):

    Ittis
    Bumwear
    Swaddlebees
    Babybeehinds fitted
    Berry Plush

WOPB: BBH & Maz zebra cover.

Hi girls... isnt it gorgeous when your bub starts telling you she wants her nappy changed by grabbing a MCN and walking to the bathroom...

Now if she can only decide if she is a BG or a BBB girl!

    lol

rhyb peapods aren't all that bad, just there are better about and I'd rather my stash wasn't made out of too many of them. We did have a time where we had 6 but as Caleb grew out of them I chose to replace them with others that worked better for us. Work out how many you need by figuring out how many nappy changes you'd do which would be 6-8 as cloth needs changing more often then sposies. Doubt they would last the night even with boosting though so you may need to consider other options there.
TBH they did work for a bit or I wouldn't have gone back for more. I suggest you get a few and find out what you think before buying too many of the same. I would give that advice about most nappies too, not just peapods

QM thanks for the trip down memory lane

    Very cute PP!

Christy Maz put out a call for a swap last week. Shoot her a PM about it

MummyTummy what about berry plush or blueberry pockets? Not as trim as ittis (nothing is really!) but nice all the same. Where abouts do you live? Theweewuns is in Emerald and Janie will let you go to her home for a look see! I highly recommend it Nappy heaven and the best bit is you can see before you buy!

Suse you have a little wriggler there don't you! Caleb gets a bit of bunching but not that much.

Jols ROFL yes indeed I do...

Raven, i think Maz only got 4 people interested in the swap she said it would be worthwhile if we had about 8+ people....

QUEEN MABEL: how do you think i got the little bit of knowledge i have now? I asked MILLIONS of questions all thru pregnancy, then bilbs arrived and i had HEAPS more - and online people (Nelle, Maz, Raven etc on this forum) were soooo generous in teaching me. So now bilbs is older and i don't have so many questions (but still some!), i can return the favour "pay it forward" etc. That's what all us oldtimers are doing! I give the extra oldtimers a rest in typing out the same old same old, cos they took the time to type it all out for me when i needed it.

that was fun looking back at our old thread - when Tracey was around heaps (Zyon's mum) and Skye. and that was only a year ago!!!

Katones - sounds like Christy has BBB's - PM her?
Pssst Katones, there are some Itti's in the swap list already, i could tell you how i know, but then i would have to swear you to secrecy, and you're too far away to bribe me (with childslave free chocolate of course!!).

Pink - wow Ashley is certainly Miz Independence!!!

Suse - i meant to tell you, when we started using FLUSHABLE liners, we were using them on their lonesomes - and got the bunching you describe. Ever since we've been using the combination of flannellette liner AND flushable liner on top, the bunching has all but disappeared! So, one more thing to try, hope you have success with it like we have. i found this out by pure accident, but hell, if it works, why not?

MummyTummy - to see nappies in real life

    - surf the net
Nappycino - join the forum, visit your state's section to find out when next Nappycino meetups are on. At these meetups, members bring MCN along to show n tell.

Ozclothnappies - join the yahoo group. This site has a database of people who list themselves for you to email and arrange a time to go see their MCN stash. you look up who is nearest you.

there are also ozclothnappy meetups in various states, i know the Perth one seems to be very active. If you're on the ozclothnappies mailing list, you'll get to hear about them.

there is also a database of IN REAL LIFE MCN Shops to browse thru (on ozclothnappies), click on your state and see where they are.

Look up modernclothnappies for information on REUSABLE NAPPY WEEK coming up in october. Click on your state and events to see what is planned near you.

If NOTHING is near you, when you go to various MCN sites, always check if they have RETAILERS or CONSULTANTS links on their site.

    hth

WOTBB: Kester Kovers AIO cos dh lurves them, and no wing droop EVEN on a front snapper on our sidesnappin bilbster.

I am on a paraben-free crusade right now (tossing out any products that have parabens in the ingredients) and i was very pleased to discover that the Nature babycare wipes we use when out, do NOT have parabens in them. Yeh!
(Parabens are a preservative i have found in my foundation, moisturiser, deodorant, sunscreen, etc etc - all i have tossed in last week, slowly working out how to replace them with paraben free products.

i found paraben-free baby sunscreen at nurture nappies - yeh

Parabens can produce miscarriages, do produce skin irritations with many people!! and they are put in SKIN products!!!!)
Didn't need to toss my hair products, cos already using the Moo Goo natural stuff.

gee it's hard work to keep up with what IS and ISN"T safe!

must go and check if parabens are in our nappy rash creams

Mel, you should be safe, parabens aren't found under rocks. :P: They are not nice at all... SLS (sodium laureth sulfate) is another one. If you google Akin skincare or the purist company there's some really good info about what is bad and why.

Gigi, as always my love, you are Goddess-like in your clothy wisdom. I bow down to you...

Maz, I'm gonna PM you about the swap, but maybe not tonight, prolly tomorrow...
