No, no snow here but it was like 5 degree outside.
Just a quickie to say That's bloody cold!!
(And I thought it's been cold the last couple of nights because it got down to about 20 lol.

To all those with nappy blowouts, wet beds, spraying poo, massive bills and otherwise had crappy days -

To those who have successfully sewed, fixed washing machines, found soakers and had good days - YAY!

I am contemplating getting a couple of Greenkids. Not because I need 'em, but just so I know what I missed out on by getting heaps of BumGs instead. Also the Zebra Stripe Minkytimes is tres adorable. And I do need more nappies that go with black Bonds tee-shirts (well, that's a lie, black Bonds tees go with all nappies!!). And it's been a while since I've had new fluffy mail.

Mummy Tummy - i'm pretty sure that itti bitti aio's use SUEDECLOTH for the inner layer. Some baby's skin reacts to synthetic fabrics that are used for inners of MCN, e.g suedecloth or microfleece. I have a DD who reacts to both.

Do you have ANY nappies that don't have a suedecloth inner to test out that theory?

Saram - i just wet a facewasher with water to clean at nappy time. THe loopy side "grabs" the poo really well.

Christy - i'm so glad the airline helped you out.

Suse - loved hearing about your crocodile roll solution. We have a shoebox of "distractions" on the nappy bookshelf. nodding at you alot!!!

KATONES - sprayable poo hey? do you have covers with leg gussets? i LURVED those for containing those explosive, runny messes.

Nelle - how is your carpet hon? (pins Gold Medal on you for cleanign that up).

MAZ - glad you had a good time at the expo

SKITTLEBUB - sounds like you had fun too!

    WARNING:

Yes, i thought my ironing days were over.
But DH has ironing board out regularly, has to iron "work shirt" each morning (no matter i say, why not iron the week's shirts at ONE time, he won't listen)
    anyhoo, i digree
i have been collecting GAZILLIONS of washed, flushable liners
cos the poo ones gets flushed, and the wet ones go thru the nappy wash load
they end up all screwed up and i never get round to unscrewing/unravelling them, too hard, too timeconsuming
tonight i saw some, i was near teh ironing board, and suddenly thought - crinkled up paper - iron - hmmmm?
so i put said theory to the test
now have perfect flat flushable liners that i can re-use in bilby's MCN
so if you are still with me this far in
i've found a way to re-use the wet flushable liners, without the dreaded Crinkle Factor.
and i sure won't be doing it often, just once in a blue moon, do HEAPS at once.

OK, the rest of you can look back now
crisis averted, no more talk of the "I" word i promise!!!

ME: i had the most fantastic sewing day with Ness, who despite being the DAY before her house is about to be painted, shared her sewing knowledge, her machines and her snapping prowess with me, i am SO LUCKY!!!! I was like a pig in the proverbial, to be let loose on WORKING sewing machines!!!

Can't believe how much sewing we got done, it was magic. Inbetween cuddling the gorgy Miz MJ and admiring Miz T's very glittery artwork.

Last night, i swear, some small items i was trying to overlock around (on my broken machine), the machine would need to be rethreaded continously, like EVERY TEN CMS!!!! FFS!!!! much swearing was going down i can tell you.

ALI - glad you found The Missing Soaker. But the Washing Machine Saga continues!!! grrrr to that! Is your dh been deployed already?

what is the rise like on the wild child for her? FJ can tell you about the different sizes of that brand, i think one is longer in the rise than the other.

once you do up a nappy, if you stand your child up, and RECHECK for tummy gape, red0 if it NOW looks a bit loose, that can stop some leak issues.
Cos it's not just LEG GAPE that is importatn, it's also TUMMY GAPE - ESP with the night nappy.

Does the cover you have over the WIld Child adequately cover 100% of the nappy, especially the rise?

FALGUNI - where for art thou?

RAVEN - well we know where you'll be! recovering after a hectic Baby Expo!!

    mwah!

Jay-zus - all these single digits for weather - I don't like that!! TOOO COOOOLD...

We think its pretty chilly this morning - its 16 degrees.. lol

Gigi - I don't think the rise is very high - it wasn't a night nappy - just one that i had on her between her bath time and bedtime - so I was surprised that it leaked, but yeah, I was in a hurry cos DS was in the loungeroom by himself being VERY quiet, so it was a bit of a rush job. First time it has leaked on me - so I'm guessing it was a Mellie fault rather than a nappy fault And way to go on the "I" "RO" "NING"... I wish I could get my butt into gear to do some here!!! I'm so friggin lazy..

Suse - we have a zebra minky times here - I LOVE IT SOOOOO MUCH.......we use it for night times cos we think it is so great.

MT - I noticed when I first had DS in cloth - he would get red a few times if he hadn't worn the nappy before - but on the 2nd or 3rd use he was fine.

Speaking of red butts - he had a bit of a red - well - splotch really, near his.. uh.. balls.. hoping it doesn't turn into anything tooooo nasty - but he's teething and is a right little PITA - so I'd say it might just become worse......
Have I mentioned I hate TEETHING....

Ahh well.. better go clean up - or at least get out of my jarmies before Miss M wakes up.

    Room for one more?

I have been lurking in the cloth-bummed thread for a while and have decided to move DS into cloth full time. I'm not sure what has been stopping me, I had a "picture"of the kind of mumma I wanted to be and when the BF didn't work (due to a condition that prevents my body from making enough milk) I gave up on the lot. I have decided to work with the choices that I DO have. Just wondering if I can join in as I have heaps of questions....

    Hi girls!
Wondering what peoples opinions on iishfly and bubblebubs were?
I have an Iishyfly...its a medium and on the small side to be honest but great absorbency, snap finish and have 3 boosters that I continuously get confussed with

Bubble bubs..i bought a medium at the expo as it was brown minkee with cow tabs and **** fabo honey. Their a large fit as Jol's said and so easy...(they sort of remind me of a HB with the booster sewn in if that helps)-velcro closure to babe. I could have gone a large in the waist though but the rise would have been to much.

Welcome aboard monkey ask us anything you want

Fingers and flaps crossed Ali thats its all fixed now.

What colour thread would you use on cow print girls? I want to embroider something on the butt but Jed and Iargued last night...I said green he said brown now I dont know which one to use! dame it!!!

Im feeling the urge to go to SL.......

its cold here... and I just left most of my winter tops in Sydney.

MAZ!!!! Red cotton mate, red. Its hot with cow print. Although, Matilda had a cow wrap (monstar is the brand I think...) and she was totally addicted to it until she turned... well until I left it on the plane and couldn't afford to replace it. ANYway... back to topic.... it had a lime green ribbon around it & it was gorgeous as well.

BTW: the cow wrap came with a cow bottle (the lid had udders LMAO) and a cow nappy zipper bag. Absolutely beautiful... now its quite ironic with her cow milk allergy. She was Moo girl from day 2 in her cow prints In a fit of anger towards the poor cows I threw it all out after the allergy diagnosis.

Freeze dried nappies FJ? It was cold here last night but not quite that cold. I streaked across the house at 5am to let the cat in and froze! Mental note to self to get that cat flap installed.

Gigi how dare you speak such filthy words. I am offended! I think I'll put in a request to Kelly to add iron to the auto censor BTW I am shocked that the flushale liners survived the wash. I though the point of them was that they dissolved/broke down!

Maz do you think the BB looks a bigger fit than that red one I gave you?

PP I love BB an have a few newborn ones. The bigger sizes are VERY generous!

Cheekymonkey welcome Have you had a look around in the other cloth nappy threads? There is stacks of info there but I know it is heaps to take in! Feel free to ask anything you need to know.

Ali does your husband tinker? Mine does and keeps rebirthing my washing machine cos he's a tighta$$. Last tim he fixed the switchboard behind the dial..I thought it was a gonner for sure. I'm both amazed and annoyed that he keeps doing that cos I want a new one. I think 15 years out of a washing machine is good value!

I have been putting together a package for full time nap naps, what do you think?? DS is 9kgs.

    12 X Cute Tooshies
    9 X BBH Bamboo
    3 X Itti bittie D'lish (medium)
    2 X Medium pul (thirsties)
    2 X Large pul (thirsties)
2 x BBH wool covers (medium)
2 X BBH wool covers (large)

Opinions? Should I try a different soaker (longies or shorties or in betweenies)???? Should I have some extra boosters? It's a big outlay, but works out cheaper that buying individually but I don't want to make the wrong decision............
