kat - i have a hemp i dont use you could have had :P
I dont know anything about Magicalls but peapods are only at most $19.95 and work best on chubby bubs thats my advice there.
With the moogoo, here's what I use:
* daily @ childcare - skin milk (in tube not tub)
* nightly @ home and also first change of the day - full cream udder cream
And when we have mega-redness or blistering
* soothing cream
Despite my best efforts, we still get blisters, but only once (teething!) and that's cleared up in under 30 hours.
Maz - nice warm weather up your way, time to test swim nappy soon!

woHB - zappy with PUL cover. Waiting for the after-tea poo before bedtime.
LS status: still waiting. DH advises that our loo fills from the bottom not the top which makes it interesting. And has made me promise not to do it. (why did I agree?)
Kaz - I've only got the one in the tube - but I *think* his rash is clearing up... fingers crossed anyway, its been a hell one. But the blisters are dissolving and skin is coming away so I think thats what happens when it gets better... isn't it?? LOL

Peapods - We had a peapod for DD when she was first in cloth but it was the first nappy she outgrew so I was a bit annoyed - I think we only got maybe 6wks out of it before it started leaking as it was too small.
Magicall - had one of the earlier ones with velcro and didn't like it but have got one of the new ones and it isn't too bad, the minky ones are really nice too.
Ali - give us a buzz if you need nappy rash cream I have a tonne here, healing hippo and mother earth naturals.

Pink - what is it about pockets that make you think they will wick?
As long as
- the pocket isn't so old that the PUL has stopped being waterproof
- there is sufficient absorbent fabric in the pocket cavity, for your child's output, only you as their parent will get to find out exactly how much absorbent material they will need per nappy wear
- you put an appropriate size insert in the pocket cavity (if you put a very narrow insert, into a wide crotch pocket, that will wick. if you have a wide nappy, use a wide insert. if you have a narrow pocket, use a narrow insert.
- the nappy is not left on too long
Follow those guidelines, your pocket shouldn't wick.
i notice on the pocket brand websites (like greenkids and happy heiny) they put the plain colours for ANY time, and the prints only for short wears e.g DAY time, so i think that is a subtle hint that block colour PUL is a safer bet - if you have to choose btwen print or plain PUL.

bilbs is still on the baby nurofen and making very loud noises struggling for air as she feeds, but perked up a bit this arvo. She played with a pile of boosters for 15 mins on the change table, then took them to the flip out sofa, played with them for about 30 mins there, then put the boosters in the push truck (that holds blocks) and wheeled them around for another 15mins. All that fun, out of nappy boosters!!
her fun is to make piles of them, patting EACH one as she carefully puts it down!
dh thinks she is imitating me sorting laundry (!!!).

Arimeh - i dry MCN in the shade (indoors actually) and put the stiff ones (fitteds and inserts) thru the drier for three minutes. Do you think three minutes is bad for the environment? i've been telling myself, "it's only three minutes". WDYT?
Katones - great your small peapods worked for you, did it pass the Poo Explosion test? I am SO impressed you cooked dinner!!! wow! i am still not at the stage TWO YEARS later. not kidding. you are a STAR katones.

Kat, yay on no explosions! Isn't it a wonderful feeling. You must have channelled your leaks over to us today - we had a BumG leak (just for something new and exciting :rolleyes:), and then a BP leak during a nap :dunno:. *sigh*. And he had a ginormous poo five minutes after putting on his night nappy, that I had so cleverly put a liner in just in case he had a poo, which of course went all over the nappy too.
I got two lots of fluffy mail today!!! My b4b cheetah blueberry, and a new ring sling. And I've still got my greenkids order on the way! We just got our tax returns done and are getting back $1500!! :leap: But I think that we will put it in the bank and be good... (yeah right!!).

Suse - I jinxed myself - last night was a crappy night for both of them. Think her problem was she's a bit snuffly so it was waking her up (obviously cos its hard to breathe!!) And DS has had high temps - 3rd day in a row now - so unsure what is happening... but he was up at 3.30 as well for some more panadol, a cudde from mum and a drink of water.
Ali - thanks for the idea of the extra booster - I added the Baby Beehinds one to the outside of the BBB last night - and she only wet through half of it.. yay...
Better go .. Miss M is grunting (yes.. my girl child grunts alot.. )

Had a HUGE leak before - haute - he peed everywhere - must of been holding it while sleeping and then let the flood gates go!!!!! Ewwwwwwwwwwwww..... now his mattress cover (thank god I use one) is hanging out to dry....
And now, since he is sick - he's back in bed with a muslin wrap over him and straight on the mattress... fingers crossed he doesn't pee big like that again (although he does have a little plastic wrap/bag over his doodle to catch the wee cos we have to get a sample.. so that might catch most of it before testing the itti bitti!!!!

i have a prefold (thanks Maz!!) i have a liner in it (micro-fleece) do i need to do anything else to it prior to putting it on Jack (well it is on him now..)

I found the perfect change table at babies galore today. Pity about the price. It had 4 drawers - Big enough for our stash and a change top. I think we might end up just getting a solid tallboy from a furniture shop and putting a mat on it :rolleyes: DH knows I really want this one though, and coz it is scratch and dent stock it is around $400, from around $600. I really want it and I know where to put it too.
I have decided that the change table is going in one of the main living areas of the house. The nappies can't stay in any of the bedrooms because whoever has them in their room will be asleep when someone else needs a change.

Ali - we did the tall boy/change mat thing & I loved it.... I had little "pockets" or like shoe boxes without lids for liners, lotions, wipes, snappies, etc etc... and I liked it that way.... IKWYM when you find something that is perfect just a bit $$.

We have a chagne table in the spare bathroom and everything set up there for both kids for that same reason. One common area to go to - if it was in a room then you need 2 of everything.. and if you only have one then - you disturb a baby if the other need a change iykwim

I have given up on nb cloth. I just cant do it.
DS seems to react to the magicalls, and i find the other mcns too bulky for his little frame.
He screams and cant bend in them and then is settled in a sposie!
With the 1 hr of screaming after every feed - the thickness around his belly doesnt doesnt work... so i have to give them up and go to sposies until he is a little bigger.
So if anyone knows of anyone looking for NB MCN's or covers pm me and i will let you know what i have.

Ali: I have a change table like the one you described and it is AWESOME! The best part of it was that it was given to me FREE by a friend who had her SEVENTH child three months before DS was born and therefore no longer needed it. I use it for DS's clothes though and keep all the nappies in the cupboard nearby! I also have it positioned near a shelving unit which holds the wipes, nappy rash cream, etc. If you really want it and can't rig a tall boy to do the same job then I say splurge and buy it! Or check on ebay and see if you can find a used one on there! I've seen a couple now and then.
Pink Palace: Don't feel bad about not being able to do cloth on a NB! You gave it a shot but if DS is more comfortable in sposies I say go with them. No sense in making him uncomfortable and stressing yourself out with his crying! I have GRAND intentions of using cloth full time on my next one (and NO I'm not pregnant MAZ *grin*) but if it doesn't work I'll keep the little one in sposies until cloth full time will work for us! You will get there!!
Poor DS has started sneezing, coughing and he has a VERY runny nose! We leave for the states a week from tomorrow so I hope he comes good SOON!

Its hard to do a newborn in cloth... (although putting them in the nappy is easier than a toddler on the run!!)

Had an incident today - DS came over to us (wearing his sisters IB) and said.. yuckkkk.. poo poo.. and me and DH were like.. hmm.. he must of done a poo cos the stench was incredible.. then we notice his hands.. hmmm.. covered with something.. ****.. GROSS.. he had reached into the back of his nappy and yup - it was everywhere.. of course I freaked a little (cos he had been walking around touching everything) and going yuck yuck .. gross.. ewww... yukkoo.. and he started freaking out.. lol.. I laugh about it now.. he's like.. mummyyy... mummmyyyy.. MUMMMYYYYYY.... nearly crying.. poor bugger.. well thats my news..

PP - I don't suppose you'd consider flats? I used flats with a couple of maz's covers, a motherease rikki & a bbh wrap & it really worked for us. Janie will tell you too how that 'old school' stuff not only works (imagine that!!) but is easy too; so easy that when I got a decent stash of MCN & started relegating the terry flats to 'emergency only' my darling DP rebelled; "I don't know how these work! I only know how to fold a nappy...!!". Just a thought, if you were dissappointed with the NB cloth experience. ;)
:hug: Plenty of time PP. I'll second or third or whatever the flanny flat/prefold with cover option. Much trimmer, the Baby BeeHinds didn't come out til 4-6 weeks here, at least.
Do whatever you need to do to survive though, if it's no longer fun, then walk away (just for a little while, then come back and try again). :)

i wouldn't go judging POCKETS in general, by two brands, there are so many more out there. i send bilbs to childcare in pockets, if they wicked, the workers would have complained by now. I put her in pockets to go in the car, and whatever MCN can stay waterproof for a car ride - i consider bullet proof. That said, i know if i stuffed the pockets incorrectly, or not enough for bilbs, i would EXPECT them to wick. Like if i said a car wouldn't go, but you knew i didn't put petrol in it - you would tell me to put petrol in it.

Christy - i hear you, the week will pass, and you'll be back in cloth.
Katones - a nb prefold with a microfleece liner on top, in a snug cover - that's all you need. i just padfolded, didn't even use the snappi (in leg gusset covers). without leg gusset covers, i think snappi-ing would be good.
ALioops - changetable sound excellent - will it fit in your bathroom or laundry or living area?

I have a new love - Sugarpeas wool cover - omg.. its brilliant - not only does the Medium still fit DS - but it also went great last night over Miss M's BBB for the entire night - no leaks!!
I'm loving it I must say....
Tired now though - DS still has his temp - 4 days and counting. Docs couldn't find anything wrong so I just have to keep giving him panadol. Yay. What a solution. :rolleyes:

mel - i find nurofen is much better at temps! but that is personal opinion... big hugs... still no word on ashley although her blisters on her mouth look better :)
