Mmm all these scrummy names....mmm.
Maz, I really don't know! I love all Minky! :D I love my brown minky nappies cos I think it looks like little bear bottoms, but I love bright colours too...so I guess that's some sort of clue...I like bright minky better than pale minky?
Nelle - did you get Silas from Heroes? Just always wondered ;)
And yes - redheads are TNT - he is a strawberry blonde - and she's showing the same colours - gawd help me - I'm already going grey..
Nappy stuff - hmmm.. ok..... uh.... sugarpeas cover still rocks my world. I think I would definitely swap some of my PUL covers for another one of those!!!! Hmm.. maybe I should convince my mum its a good xmas present.. even though we don't do xmas.. hmmm...
WOAB: Happy Heiny for the unhappy heiny monster that he is
WOMB: ummm.. crap.. can't remember. something that needed a cover.
**** MELBEL!!!!!!!!!!! You were 1 of my 1st guesses!!! scroll back a few pages, see see?? :cheer::bluecheer::stickyvibesgirl::stickyvibesboy : I am sooooooo happy for you hun!!!
Maz, Hun I would come, but I will either be about to pop or have a newborn by then. Airlines won't let me fly too late.
Hmmm, nappies.....
Sarah is sick so they are in sposies at the moment. I am still waiting for DH to take care of the poos (cant do it with this MS, it makes me puke) so as soon as he squirts them, I will do a heap of washing! I need a LS!!!
Scan tomorrow, then I can see whether I am allowed to buy more nappies!!! I will let you all know!!
WOTB: Sposies :( I have enough washing with puke ATM from Sarah :(
Maz depends on the timing of it all.... I will be in Brissy in March for a wedding & May for a birth!! Family is coming out in May.... so there ya go.
What does
WOAB:
WOMB:
mean?
WOHB stands for What's on his/her Butt!!
In the case you are asking the A is for Aricyn and the M is for Mehkelti - two in cloth are distinguished by their letters ;)
hey Cm - how you going babe? You make sure you keep your beautiful bum in here now...you hear me
I have to cut bamboo fleece :( I so dont wanna but it has to be washed.
Jed folded the nappies tonight...stuffed nearly all of them up but hey atleast he was trying.

WOVB - Sammi strawberry shortcake HB
How are you ohmygodimamum...hmmm what can we call you for short..OMG!!! hehehehe
are you new to MCN's or have you been using them with your children?
Heheh I'm okay Maz, getting 'better' - how are you hon?
Look at Mateauz, he looks so grown up!
I will try and keep shuffling my butt in here more often. Has been a while ;)
WOHB: Whizzkidz Nightz with ummm Maz-a-licious Sunny Bum :nahnah:
big shout out to Raven and Fiona Jill - not much longer heh? You're both in my thoughts!
Today i found out bilby's Primary Caregiver (at childcare) has been putting bilby's USED flushable liners IN THE NAPPY BIN (with the sposies) instead of flushing them down the loo! :wall::wall::wall: i explained to her why you flush a flushable liner! and why it's a public safety issue (and council bye-law) that poo must go down the loo! sposies OR cloth.
She looked at me, like a lightbulb had just switched on.
She had nodded at me when we started there (three months ago) so i had just assumed - as you do - that she had been flushing them.
for anyone after cute xmas nappies, today i saw heaps of xmas print aio's on ozebabytrends, they were bubblebubs and cushie tushies (all aio's).
wish i had an excuse to buy a mandy mac night nappy, i wanna see one!!
gigi - glad she finally had a lightbulb moment! lol Funny how many people dont know they arent supposed to throw poo in the bin.. and especially when you spend the extra $$ for flushables to do the right thing!
Looked at the xmas nappies how cute are they! i saw they also have happy heinys on special for $16!
But no more nappies here... have to deal with what i have for now :)
WOAB... i have no idea.. DH put something on there... i think Haute
WOEB... Sposie :( still
Yay Mel. Congrats!
:hooray: :stickyvibesboy:
All the very best for the pregnancy... got all my bits crossed for you :o
Mmmm... nappy related: Manageed to talk a friend into going cloth for her next baby (due May)... gonna buy her some BumGenius & itti bittis.. Reckon the BG will do ok for Childcare? What do others use for CC?
WOHB: Rockmelon IB
I use BumG's for childcare ;)
I will be tackling CC on Monday, but only for Sarah, so they will only get 2 nappies, and plenty of undies and clothes ;)
Well, FJ and Ness, and whoever else said that there is only 1 bubba - YOU WERE RIGHT. The Parasite's HB was 141. Oh, AND, I talked DH into letting my layby that change table!!! He liked it enough, and shook the thing as hard as he could to make sure it was stable!!! We also layby'd the travel system I wanted. Now I have to sell some prams coz the deal was that I would cull my pram collection.
I managed to get DH to squirt the nappies finally! So I have some in the machine!! But the wet is starting to arrive, so they aren't getting much sun.
WOTB: Sposies, but tonight they will be back in cloth!
i didnt know chilcare centres allowed cloth nappies anymore? which is odd in itself coz hello what did they use before disposables?? mine doesnt, they have to be sent in a disposable and will only use disposables until they go home
I haven't had anyone say no to cloth yet :) But I know some prefer you not use cloth. I just say I prefer not to use disposables.
So far all four centres I have been with (yes we get around ) are all ecstatic to use cloth as we are the only family that do. The girls there love them!!! (And for the record, they NEVER dispose of the poo down the toilet, they fold it up in the nappy for me to deal with at home.. really.. is it that difficult to turn around and flick it into the toilet? anyhoooo)
Ali - woohoo on the healthy parasite ;) With a heartbeat like that, I'm gonna say BOY for you honey.
Nettie - I use BumG's (and some Happy's if we run out) for DS - and will be using BumG's and MD's for DD - starting Monday :(
WOTB's: night nappys - BBB for her, GK Minky for him.
Nettie, i look at multiple parenting forums, and the topic of MCN and CCC comes up quite often. From reading those, i'd say the answer to "what do i send" is varied. It's also about
- age of child e.g the people who answer "fitteds with covers" often have the younger bubs with runny poo.
- what suits the child fit wise
but reading those types of threads made me decide to send multiples of the same type and same brand - so CCC worker only has to learn ONE way. Some people send varieties and different brands, but i wanted to make it as easy as, for our CCC.
so i got 7 of a type and brand that suit my bub. Both centres we've used, and also creches that i've used on a once off basis, no worker had a problem with the MCN - after i showed them how to do it once. and showed them the wetbag.
we happen to use sized swaddlebee PUL pocket that are sidesnappers. I wouldn't say that would be the case for every bub in CCC, they just suit my child's shape and give us great pootainment.
So, i would say to another person, pick a type that is a good fit for YOUR child and send X of those. (if bumgenius fit your child well, send a quantity of those). Make sure the team leader knows how your child's MCN is to be put on them (leg seal means no leaks etc), and how to use wetbag (zip it up, don't have to tie up EVERY pooey nappy in a plastic bag as well, put poo in the loo).
if child has formed poos, flushable liners are great, but double check they understand this really does mean you PUT THE LINER IN THE LOO! as i just found out, nodding yes, doesn't always meant they got it!
Ask about how they clean the kids. the 1st CCC we went to, they used wet cloth wipes on all kids. the 2nd CCC we go to now, they use wet paper towels, on all children. SOme might use commercial wipes, or ask you to provide your own.
the bubblebubs site has info about MCN and child care centres - including links to the Children's Services Acts around the various Aust. states. I printed that out to show the CCC (i didn't need to, but had it in my bag, just in case).
if a CCC wouldn't use MCN on my child, i would just say "bilby is allergic to the chemicals in sposies". CCC adapt themselves to your child's food allergies, and skin allergies, so cloth cos it's safer, or doesn't make your kid rash, is no different to me.
nurture nappies (under the INFO link at the top, going across) has a link called "What is in a disposable". i printed that out to show the CCC, in case i got any opposition, but didn't need to.
i was so keen to use MCN at CCC (it's part of bilby's normal life) that if we struck CCC who WOULDN"T use cloth, i would have gone elsewhere. i have that option, living in a city, i realise people living in smaller areas, may not have that choice. But given what the Children's Services Act says, i don't see how they can turn you down. Unfortunately their guidelines are SO out of date, talking about flats and pilchers!!! i had to educate them about MODERN cloth nappies and how the pockets WERE waterproof and did not need a silly PILCHER over the top!
the childcare workers have been fine with using MCN on bilbs each day. she has been in childcare for 6 - 8 months, not one sposie has been on her.
WOTBB: whizz kidz nightz with bear bottoms fleece pullup soaker
Seriously??? wow there ya go!! learn xomething new everyday!!! So what do they do with the poop in sposies?
I didn't know it was a rule cos there was one occasion that a nappy was sent home with a skiddy so obviosky someone had disposed of the poo!! Whoops - and here I was thinking they were just lazy!!! My bad....
It's funny because we know they wouldn't think twice about just binning a disposable - hardly anyone knows you're supposed to scrape a sposie too, except for all us clothies ...
Night nappies - (Suse & Gigi - you both use the WKN - I'm just curious, do you boost with anything extra? Fleece Covers work okay?)
Does anyone have tummy sleepers that wet through their sheets everynight? I'm starting to think we might go back to disposables for night nappies because we really can't afford longies/shorties/soakers at the moment and he is wetting through soo often I am sick of changing sheets, airing the lambskin and having mine and or his bed smelling like wee.
We have been using
BBB's
WKNightz
Snoozywuns
Cute Tooshie
With extra BB Trifold, Maz-a-licious Booster, or 2 x mini Microfibre inserts. & Maz-a-licious minkee/fleecies.
I need to go up a cover size (I know that is half the tummy wetting problem becuase the cover rise is too short), but does anyone have any recommendations for high rise night nappies? The best I have so far is using a HH or BumG or largest setting with extra stuffing and he always comes out more dry in the morning.
Argh what a convoluted ramble, if anyone can make sense of that would be much appreciated, I don't even know what I was trying to get at anymore.
AJ - what size is he? i could send you DS's longies to try over the snoozywun if you like? Always worked here - he is a tummy sleeper too. They are at the top of his cupboard at the moment cos its far too hot here for longies - he's in his shorties now.
Lemme know babe.
Hey Gigi - our bubs had matching bums last night! LOL!
Ash, I've PM'd you about night nappies, OK hon. But yeah, I think you'd do well do have something that works as a really harry highpants. The bear bottoms fleece covers are 300gsm MM Windpro, and have a rise that comes up to the armpits (almost). They are ace.
ETA: Mel - they just bin the poo with sposies. Dunno if they have an exemption from the rules re: waste disposal or whether it just gets 'ignored'.
WOHB: Dunno, daddy changed him and let me have a sleep in (love the man). He's now been having a nap for nearly two hours :o so I get to have a cup of tea in peace. I just checked - it's a BumG with a TotsBots cover - our new safeguard against the BumG leaks
We use all our nappies at daycare, either pockets or aio they are all made up so they all go on the same way anyway. We have always had a good reaction from childcare with nappies and they will usually rinse them and they have a little squirt for the poopy ones. I did get a phone call the other day asking if we could bring in a sealable nappy bucket as before that we had just been using our big swaddlebees wetbag. Apparently for accrediatation they needed to have a sealable nappy bucket. they all were gloves when changing nappies anyway so I don't see why they would have a problem with poo, after all they have to wipe it off the kids butt don't they? What's the difference?
Thanks for the info on the different websites Gigi I had a lady at reusable nappy week say she had been told by her daycare they wouldn't use cloth and I told her that I had seen you post links to some rules before that support cloth so off to check those out - Thanks
cookie - no matter how good your night nappy is, unless you have a cover that SUFFICIENTLY covers the night nappy, you're gonna have problems.
any nappy, day or night, needs to be 100% covered by the cover, and with NIGHT nappies, it's even MORE crucial - cos of the wiggling, and moving that goes on all night.
any boosting you add, make sure AFTER you boost INSIDE the nappy, that you still have leg seal, there should be NO GAPES.. if you have gapes, consider OUTER BOOSTING.
you do up night nappy as usual, then take BOOSTING and add that OUTSIDE the ngiht nappy but INSIDE the night cover. (but the cover needs to be big enough to cover ALL of that night nappy, the outer boosting, WITHOUT giving you leg gape of the cover.
once all of this is on bubs, you should see LEG SEAL, not LEG GAPE. If you have leg gape, the cover is too small for your needs. The cover will probably fit your day nappies fine, but is not big enough for night nappying.
Happy Heiny seems a high rise product, does it come as high up on your bub as your night cover does? e.g above or below the navel.
before you go shelling out for high rise night nappies, i would try a high rise night cover in a big enough size FIRST, because that might be all you need - to make your current night nappies work. (unless you can see way more bottom crack than is desired, already in those night nappies).
but if you do get night nappies with a higher rise, the cover will need to be even bigger again. (rise especially). that's why i love the woollies with the drawstring, you get such a big weight range with them, soooo adjustable. you can buy them, technically too big, bring it all in with the drawstring. so the woolly lasts your child a much longer time cos they have all that growing room.
it really helps to go shopping for a night nappy, with your child's rise measurement, so you know what you are after. it's expensive to buy the night nappies, HOPING the rise will be long enough, cos it is for other people's babies. Email the maker, with your child's rise and ask their opinion BEFORE buying.
measure the rise of the night nappies you already have.
notice how close or far that is from your child's rise measurement.
compare that to the night nappies you find online (the rise).
Does your bub sleep right thru? or wake for a feed?
I was at a baby shower today, the only clothie there, and bilby had the cutest butt around. Go, you little minky minx!
WOTBB: kester kovers AIO (dh's fave). at 11kgs, she fits both the medium long and the large sizes, both on the smallest settings. Even over that milk gut, yes indeed.
Suse: what a pain having to put a cover OVER a BG - that just seems so wrong.
TO much to catch up on again...dame it!!!!!
Gigi - I agree with you about the high cover aspect...we've been putting larges on Mateauz for night times becaus eof it...works so much better..and Ihave a few *cough* friends that I have made covers for that have asked for an extra 2 inches in the rise to compensate for bigger nappies.
Oh what kind of BP's have you given her babe?
Im covers in minkee fluff atm...had LOTS of fun and made some of the rainbow kind :) and oh um jingle bells also comes to mind
mateauz has 'old' blisters on his pee pee atm...they arent hurting him, not weeping but just look like old blisters. Thank god tooth number 2 is out and he's back to his normal happy self! I was sick of disgusting smelling wee nappy's and **** the pooh that comes out of him.
WOMB - purple BBH bamboo and a techno flame fleecie cover
WOVB - Strawberry shortcake HB yet again :)
i was informed today that urine is ALKALINE not ACIDIC. it's the AMONIA in urine that can cause nappy fabrics to degrade (if left in bucket too long), all this time i thought it was the ACIDITY that did it. And the ammonia apparently is what increases greatly around times of TEETHING etc. I think of it as the NAIL POLISH smell LOL.
Maz i think i have converted my friend to the IDEA of washable breastpads. She knows we use MCN but hasn't shown any interest and i don't want to risk our friendship by pushing things.
Sounds you like are in the festive spirit, Xmas in November heh? why not!
so Vy is only in NIGHT nappies now i guess? wow.
hope Matteauz heals up soon.
Isn't it sad when MCN is soooo freak like it would risk a friendship if you pushed it LOL
eta - Just looking on Ebay, BBH have their old magicals up for $15 with postage again. heaps there.
Wow Gigi, you are a wealth of information, whatever would we do without you? ;)
Thank you so much for your mammoth post it is very helpful! We boost on the outer of the nappy already and leg gape is usually okay i think it's just the rise... which is odd seeing as they almost still do up on the tightest snap setting and he isn't a tall boy.
Suse thanks for your PM darl - might wait til she is a little less busy IYKWIM and just look into some better covers for now. i expect he will be outwetting BBBs soon so I won't have much choice, but for now will just deal with it. Bear bottoms with MM fleece, i should be able to remember that.
Mel - thanks for the offer but we're pretty hot down here too at the moment, DS has been sleeping in nappies only  You're a gem though, thank you!
I got fluffy mail today & woohooo on bargains. I got two second hand GK anytimes with boosters, and an IB Funked-up AIO for $15 each and they are all in as new condition. She also threw in a Sandman so I am thrilled.
DS has just started unco crawling instead of just pulling himself along. He only gets three of four 'steps' before he goes back to dragging himself but it's cute. He can also sit himself up from his tummy by himself and toothie number four should cut soon.
WOHB: IB AIO
Gigi - how about I send you a few BP's for your friend so she can have a play with them :)...and NO I dont wnat anything for them babe....just the simple pleasure knowing that another person is converted to not throwing more into our landfill is enough. Xmas sales started in october everywere else to hon...im late considering others.
FJ - will call you back, my dame brother has turned up now....stupid $^&*(^%) visitors!!!!!
CM - I love it when you buy something and get an extra freebee...makes the whole MCN world feel beautiful. I cant believe he is upto tooth number 4! **** mateuaz has just gotten his 2nd
and YAY for me...no fluffy mail but we got our Ambah teething necklace..looks very noice
WOMB - lime green IB
PP any fluffy mail your end?
Im a little worried, I had stuff coming from Brissy that was sent last wednesday that hasn't tured up, & I would have thought your fluff sent thursday(?) would have arrived today also but nothing....
I sure hope QLD AP is just a little slow.....
On other news.... been getting some extramly mild tightenings today. Nothing major, not painful at all, just notice my belly going tight.
WOHB - A WC day dreamer that seriously needs to be changed!
PMSL, I don't think you need to worry just yet. You have at least a week to sort out a new phone Im sure LOL
New belly shot https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...hp?photo=10416
Happy EDD FJ :D Hope you tightenings aren't too uncomfortable...unless they're doing something constructive ;)
na, thats all they are, tightenings. No pain no gain & they ain't painful LOL
