I honestly didnt cope with the cloth at all .. i think i am only ready to try again now.

I really hope it doesn't sound as though I am rubbing it in. Im just surprised at how well its going. I was getting worried towards the end seems everyone was saying how hard its been.
Im very early days lets not forget lol.
FJ *wolf whistles* Nice Avvy!!!
We all know what works for 1 bub doesnt work for another, for some mummies, cloth is too much in the early days, while you are spending your time BFing for ages. Dont feel guilty for either handling it or not. The nappies are not the most important part of the NB stage, the feeding is. PP, you are doing just fine, when you are ready you will go back to cloth, but wait till you are ready.
Mel - I stripped everything, our hot water only goes up to 50 degrees though, so the PUL was safe at that temp.
I am worried about my poor nappies :( Em stole some Mac and Cheese from a little boy at MG this morning. I know within the next 48 hours she will have diahorrea :( I hope she doesn't get sick this time though :( I dont think I could deal with another round of AB poo right now.
when i go out next i am going out in cloth :)
we had a leakage today :( picked DS up and thought hmmm why are you wet??? he had peed BIG time....and i don't think i had the nappy on tight enough :)
WOJB ~ FJ NB fitted Jack (2nd one in an hour as he shiat in one that i had just put on him) /Maz minkee cover
Fj - no not at all! i am honestly happy for you - you are doing great!!!
I am looking forward to getting back into cloth soon - just have all these sposies left that i want to use so i dont waste $$ - he is almost too big for the nb sposies!
I tried him in the bbb and still gape at the legs at the smallest at his waist so not sure... will you use the small or long booster??
For those interested - i sewed up ashleys 2008 christmas dress! ...
https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...hp?photo=10715
I was gonna ask were you got the dress from PP...its gorgeous! be proud :) oh and on the sposies....if you still have some left...sell them on ebay..loving ebay atm for sellign stuff :)
As for using cloth from the start.....I think we have to do what we can do. I found it was my way of escaping my babies for a min pegging them out and was very upset in hossy At the royal childrens when I had to use sposies cause all my MCN were at home. I did find it hard to undertand why some of you couldnt use them right from word go, please dont think im being *****y...I just didnt think thats all. So sorry in advance for thinking that IFYKWIM
Some of us can BF and some cant...some can use MCN from the start, some cant...WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT...WE ARE ALL ENIQUE and Ive learnt quiet a bit over the last few weeks about these things.
I think I'll run away now and hide in a hole
Nice Av FJ
PP- great job on the dress!!!
ohhh just want to show some pics of my girl
https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...r=8441&cat=500
WOMB: itti bitti
WOAB: nothing... trying to catch her and have given up
Maz - why are you running into a hole you dag! :) I am not sure that it isnt a 'cant use them' more than a trying to cope with the transition of 2 babies under 16 months that i needed to stop and simplify for a few weeks.
Ness- that girl is so cute!! love the mirror pic! lol classic
where have you been hiding Maz?? i missed you today!!!
WOJB ~ FJ NB fitted Jack / Maz minkee cover (same as before coz he is still sleeping!!)
Well you havent offended me :) and i am sure no one else will take it to heart!
I know what you mean about them growing up so fast! i just weighed ds and he is 4.6kg - so not long till be chubbers up for the bbb!!
WOAB - Baby cheeks
WOEB - sposie

MAZ - HE WALKED??!!!! OMG!!!! HOW BRILLIANT!!!!
:leap: :leap: :leap:
And I'm happy saying that I had DD in cloth (full time) from about 2 weeks - and that was dealing with a horrid infection that left me crying on the floor - so I think that was good enough for me.. lol
Ness - such a cutie pie you have there!!!!!! Gorgeous locks on her..
PP - thats a great dress!!!!! I wish I could sew... :( Thank god people make clothes cos if it was left up to me - my kids would be naked all the time!!!! lol
No nappy news. Montessori got rid of a poop for me today - so that was nice of them :) They also made sure DS had a great day!!!! Gotta love alternative places ;)
WOAB: Errrr... let me see.... looks like a baby kanga from here - can't be positive though DH put it on him and he's running around the house screaming for daddy who just left to go up the street...
WOMB: Cuddlebuns (the princess one - cos she is one) and swaddlebees cover.
Maz- thats fantastic!!!!!!! well done boy
Ari- hehe sewing takes time.. but its easy to learn!!
Kat- what a spunky on eyo have there.. still sleeping.. go your lucky!!
Katones:
do you have a wetbag? as soon as i got one of those, i felt a bit more confident to do it. (The Secret Confidence Weapon) but the First Time, yes, it was daunting to me too. but it was easier than i expected. the only diff is, cloth mums TAKE HOME the used nappy (hence need for the wetbag to trap smell). and many nappy bags sold in shops, cater for disposables - which are tiny compard to cloth nappies. it took me a while to find a suitable nappy bag.
Pneumonia! wow, sorry to hear that Mummy of 3.
FJ - we used cloth (prefolds and cover) from 5 days in, (and i had trouble walking upright for months but only had one baby), it's different for everyone, but there are plenty of stories of parents using cloth right from the start too.
Arimeh
- a strip wash is to strip back excess washing detergent (using gentle dishwashing detergent).
- A de-stink wash is another animal altogether (bicarb and vinegar wash to remove smells, just do it to the inserts/boosters). i found microfibre held onto the urine smell more.
Alioops - i wash at 60 degrees 100% and our PUL is fine.
How is EM's tummy? (or other end really!). i hope for YOUR tummy's sake, she is ok!!
love the bubby photos eeryone, keep em coming.
MAZ - woot on M taking his first steps! that's grand Maz!
where did i read the other day?
MCN mummy tells friend - i save so much money using MCN, it's great
Friend says: how would it save me money, we use two disposables per day, it's cheap
MCN mummy: (in shock)
gigi thinks: that's child abuse
childcare workers tell me stories of babies who come to the centre in the morning, in the SAME nappy the CC worker put on that baby the night before as their "going home nappy".
WOTBB: lotus night nappy with disana woolly pullup (i still haven't shrunk it, yeh!)
i put ( tried on ) on her small blueberry training pants today, amazed at how big they run, she couldn't pull them up and down by herself, LOVED herself in them, did a little dance, Madame has decided zebra stripes are awright! they're a bit boofy. rise wise they were ok, but yeh, the only way i can think to describe teh too bigness part is "boofy".
ECAPRIS is going to have her baby very soon. best of luck Rachel! a sibling for Angus.
kat - Gigi's so right about the wetbag being the Secret Confidence Weapon! Of course, I have a red one. And a black one. And a blue one just for something completely outrageous!! Only issue I've ever had was after a big day at the mall *shudder*, too much shopping in my bag already, so I had the wetbag clipped to the pram and the guy at the entrance to KMart or whatever wanted to check all my bags! He didn't expect that...
good idea to make up a pile of DH-friendly nappies! I put printed instructions with diagrams on the wall next to the change table (and the washing machine too) in the hope that one of these days my DP will be able to put a nappy on DS unassisted... other than a BumG, anyway. He likes them.
Gigi -I used to cook for a childcare centre, but some of the tales the parents and staff would tell me about what kids ate at other centres was just plain frightening, and sometimes heartbreaking. :o:
childcare workers tell me stories of babies who come to the centre in the morning, in the SAME nappy the CC worker put on that baby the night before as their "going home nappy"
Maz - WTG Mateauz!
Gorgeous pics everyone!
oh-oh spaghetti-os! DS is screaming... BBL
WOHB: BumG
Maz - look at those first steps!! great!!
Mel - Montessori sounds great. i remember christy telling me about it - and yay for no stinky nappies coming home! the sewing.. i taught myself by just having a play.. still learning!:P
Nana - hi! havent spoken to you yet lol so hi!
Ness - HOws the house hold this morning??? and your eye?
gigi - if we put all our bubs photos up - you must show up a pic of those zebra training pants!!!
On another note... i woke up this mornign (after ANOTHER LONNNNNG night) to find DH had put the nappies on wash... awww... warm water prerinse.. and even remembered to wash wash with the soap nuts! :) so very proud!
Well after all the talk yesterday about nb in cloth... i have ventured to put DS in one of his pockets.... his happy heiny! :)
https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...hp?photo=10745
WOAB - BG Blue
WOEB - Lamby HH
lol PP! hi! can I borrow your DH? just to give mine a few lessons on laundry?
Ok, first lessons in NB cloth...
When using a prefold (or I guess any fitted style) make sure the cover is coving all of the nappy. Yes even the little bit that is exposed at the back, wee WILL travel that far & WILL wick on to clothes
AI2 styles of nappies really are made for SHORT wear. Example: a white Minkee Bettlebum will not last a 4 hour sleep.
Yes at less then a week old, some sort of "night" nappy will be needed. Just not necessarally going to be at night the long stretch happens
So so far 2 leaks. But more wicking then "leaks"
Off to do a load of washing.
Iain- Cotton prefold & minkee cover (me thinks I will be washing sheets when he wakes, no way that will last more then an hour if he stays asleep LOL
Isla - choc dlish
well i ventured out with Jack in a cloth nappy :D (even if it was just to woolies!!)
and boy did he look cute!! and afew people stared at his fluffy bum!! he had an orange t-shirt on that said "driving daddy round the bend" and a rockmelon IB... DAMN i didn't take a picture :(
WOJB ~ peppermint IB
YAY congratulations Katones :) Now go shopping and change his nappy in the parents room! :)
Well done Kat!!!
Fluffy mail has arrived!! 4 small magicalls, 2 Wahms, 2 fluffies and a maternity top!!
I did the grocery shopping last night and found some cleaning cloths that I thought I would give a go as boosters. They are 82% bamboo and 18% corn fibre. DO they sound like they would be good, or only use as cleaning cloths?
WOEB: BumG
shall brave going out shppoing next week.. is too damn HOT to go anywhere now...
where do i get these wetbags?
Yay Kat - well done
I can't believe people leave their babies in nappies for that long!!!! Thats what is bad about disposables - that you can leave them on that long and it just keeps on sucking away that pee!!!! poor kiddies... :( I'm all sad now..
Anyhoo...
Nappy news - uh.. nope... getting the girls at daycare to have a go with some ittis today cos I ran out of "easy" nappies for Miss M...
i bumped into the gorgeous wardygirl (rach) today!!! longtime no see!! at the same place i saw her last- snugtime sleepingbag sale!! hehe was good to see an old face!
katones - Well done! Next challenge is to convert other mummies to MCN in the parents room! I've got Monkey Doodlez wetbags, from the wee wuns. Most online nappy places have a few different ones. Nurturenappies have some cute prints if you like, too. I like the monkey doodlez ones coz they have a strap and clip so you can hang them off the pram or whatever, coz they dont always have dirty dudz in them! Oh, and they come in RED! lol
ali - sounds interesting... maybe try the blue liquid test like on tv ads??
FJ - you have a newborn that sleeps more than 4 hours??? I wanted one of them! Can I get a refund, I think mine's broken... I know it's not exactly cloth, tho not exactly a sposie either, but I used some of the eenee pads with a flanny flat and a cover in the early days to prevent that leaking/wicking if bubs ever did go to sleep. They've been useless for anything else, I've since discovered...
WOHB: Black BP and flames babylegs. Showing off at the shops, and he fell asleep in the sling on the way home on the bus!
are the little bags that come with Peapods WETBAGS???
WOJB ~ (had to go check!!) purple magicall
sometimes i think mine is broken too!! especially when he won't sleep at night!!!
Kat - yep they sure are, but they will only fit 1 nappy in at a time.
Nana - might try that!! time to get out the pyrex jug and see how much they hold
WOTB: both wearing bumG's for nap time!
thanks Alioops!!! i have 2 of them sitting under the change table...
I put 1 of those cloths in a jug of water, and pulled it out when it was soaked, then sqeezed out a little of the water till it stopped dripping for a second, and it held 125ml, so I think they will work quite well, and at under $5 for a pack of 3 1 layer predominantly bamboo soakers, I think they are fine. They are 35cm squares. I found them at woolies ;)
Kat, They will be great to keep in your bag for shorter outings, when you are brave enough to spend the whole day out, you will need a bigger one.
The girls are still asleep, so WOTB has not changed
Oh, I got an order update!! My new Basix CT that I ordered on 1/10 has been posted!! The shipment arrived so all the backorders are going out now!! So I will get some more fluff on Monday or Tuesday!!
oh good... i shall pack them in our nappy bag :D BUT i am seriously NOT going to stay out all day anytime soon!!!
WOJB ~ same.. he is still sleeping (so he definatly isn't broken)
i want a new born again :( you girls make me cluck cluck clucky...
/off to find a husband thats nuts are attached to his body

We have anppy rash YET AGAIN!!!! friggen red heads and their super sensitive skin!!!!! I took his nappy off after 1 hour and the skin peeled away and bleed in 3 spots the size of a 20c piece.....so tonight im gonna be making more bamboo velour liners.
Its so muggy here atm....raining yet blah...all my nappies are being finished of in the dryer cause they just wont dry.
Jols - how is rach...OMG miss some of the old girls that dont come in here anymore :( like tiggy...anyone know were she is these days? Tracy...you stalker we know your about, rach...:( , LInda, Escaprac (other rach) who OMG Gigi is she due soon...I have to go stalking
i want a christmas nappy that say "my first christams" :(
anyone know where i can get one NOW????
WOJB ~ FJ Infant Jack / Maz minkee cover
Thanks Maz, lol at your ticker, but I know I am going to miss it after this bub, so I completely understand.
Well, I cant wait for DH's CC to arrive, then we can pay off everything and I can put the nappies away in the new change table. I dont know how I will wait 31 more weeks!!
she was great maz!! boys are both getting big!!!
helllllo
peapods do come in a wetbag, but not really big enough for a dirty nappy. great for wipes though!
Us - think one of Pips nappies is at CC as he came home in a flanno flat, haven't checked out the bag though. forgot it was RDO of the room leader today, and the relief isn't snap-friendly. (packed a BP and a starbumz)
WoHB - BBB with imsevimse cover.
Kat- i think Buzy bees on WAHMNAPS did a my 1st xmas one.. she does take custom orders.
ok annika is spreading spagetti everywhere
BBL
