uh.. dunno then.. mine has snaps but I don't know if they are wider or slimmer than before in the crutch.. I think they are pretty wide myself.. but wider compared to what.. lol
I have no idea. Are they good as a brand atleast? From memory quite a few in here have mentioned owning them so cant be all bad!
Not too bad. The breathable ones feel damp on the outside though even though their not (its the evaporation thing I think)
I'm not the biggest fan of front snapping nappies however, so I probably don't like them as much for that reason - but as a nappy they do pretty good. They only come with microfibre inserts though - and I use two with DS, but if you had an amazingly heavy wetter you would need something more heavy duty. They do about 2 - 2.5 hours on him before they start leaking or hanging down really low cos they are so full of pee
I always boost my nappies anyway JIC I get sidetracked and miss an extra change there :)
What are Green kids like?
I LURRRRVE MY GREEN KIDS..
One of my favourites
I have a green kids and a happy heiny - both of which I LOVE - but they have been leaking a bit lately... any idea why???
Heidi - where are they leaking?
anna- that would explain y the one i bought off B4B seem so much bigger than the ones i bought new :D the newer ones r slimmer & in many way like a BG. i have both the snap & velcro ones n they r both as good..i own 3 diff types of OSFMs & waitin on my GKs so will let u know then haha
ive been happy with my magicalls so far. Surprised that bubs able to fit into them though (i have Ms) hehe. Havent had any leakages yet so with the bamboo insert it means i can skip the early morning change when i feed him LOL
WOHB: PURPLE magicalls (yet another thing DP wasnt too impressed with)
Teru - how much does your Ds weigh now and how much was he born? Do you use the newborn or small magicalls?
dragon was born 3kg. at 8wk checkup he was just under 5kg...he's heavier now but not exactly sure how much he weighs. Was originally plannin to buy Smalls but the demonstrator convinced me that i'll get more wear out of Ms. Lucky i listened :) i heard NBs r a waste & if u got enough nappies to last a few weeks, id say skip the Smalls too! unless u can get them off B4B cheap. keep this in mind though, they're AIOs so take MUCH longer to dry than pockets so u might not want to use them in the 1st mth or so as ur constantly changing!
AnnaT - the old Haute pockets were out about 15mths ago and were replaced by a much trimmer design and are now Australian owned whereas before they were UK owned. They come in snaps and velcro but the snaps only have a weight imit of 13.9kg and the velcro 16kg. I would def check if they are breathables or traditional, some people don't like the breathables although I find they work fine. Are they new or second hand? If second hand or on ebay or such you might ask for a photo of the inside of the PUL as the first batch of Hautes had a lot of problems with PUL lifting from the inner of the nappy. I have 3 hautes, I like the fit but they are sometimes difficult to stuffwith the two microfibre inserts I have some tips though if you go ahead. I often use a BumG insert in mine now.
Lilprecious - I think it depends on how often you want to wash too. I only had 24 flats and 5 MCN but I washed everyday and threw them in the dryer at night and was fine.
Oh swim nappy - Imse vimse have snaps on one side which I like as DD can step in one side and do up the other side.
back when i was investigating the Narrow and Wide crotch nappy scenarios - i remember 15 - 17 cm being the width that were too wide for us, and 12 cm wide was just fine n dandy.
i think of happy heiny, bumgenius, greenkids type "full coverage" nappies, as the wide crotch
and swaddlebees (the sized ones), itti bitti, as the narrow crotch styles.
i cannot work out why so many kids can handle BOTH wide and narrow crotch styles, cos from hearing what is in people's stashes, this is what i notice. So obv bilbs is a freak.
just my potted empirical research, after having a bub who even when she had the three rolls of fat on each thigh, still had and still has a narrow crotch as a two year old now.
BEATRIX - if you're lurking - i didn't know you had a LS! i could have sworn you told me you didn't have one (due to inquisitive big sisters). good luck with move/xmas confusion etc.
HEIDI - nappylicious are a OSFA nappy, just google the name, and the website will come up.
for the flexiwraps by tots bots, nurture nappies sell them, look up that website, click on covers, PUL, or search by brand for TOTS BOTS, and the weight ranges for each size will be listed.
WOTBB: royal purple kester kovers AIO night nappy and a singlet - bit muggy tonight.
any single mummies on this thread?
i have worked out, if i leave dh, rent (the cheapest places i can find) will be 50% of my income. Does anyone else pay THAT much in rent? Can you survive like that? am i being a wuss, or is 50% a BIG percentage to be paying in rent?
Gigi - sometimes you can apply for rent assistance from centrelink in situations like that! Sorry to hear your ina situation where you need to be making decisions like that:hug:
As for the wide crotch/narrow crotch - I prefer the wide crotch as Ari is a big bottomed girl but I find the swaddlebees are OK on her but the itti's just didn't have the coverage in the backside. so overall I go for wide crotch over narrow so bilby isn't a freak :-)
Im in Gov Housing and my rent is only $240 a f/n. I get around the $1000 mark a f/n.
Missymoo - new threads are started by the moderators when the thread reaches the maximum number of posts per thread (300).
Heidi - the flexiwrap stats are:
Size 0 2-5.5kg Waist 28-44cm Leg14-20cm Rise 40cm
Size 1 4.5-9 kg Waists 32-46cm Leg 18-22cm Rise 43cm
On newborn stash stuff - Euan was 4.2kg, so I used BumGs from day one, and TotsBots size 1s and Thirsties covers. I didn't branch out until E was about six weeks old, when I got my first BP and my sugarpeas wool in one. I'd be interested to see if cute tooshies work on a newbie, I think they might go tight enough in the legs, and they'd be lovely and soft.
Um, that's it from me, hopefully he with the sore teethies will go to sleep soon and so can I.
WOHB: FJ night nappy and wool soaker
ETA: hugs to you Gigi sweet - things really aren't getting better for you with DH, are they? I'm so sorry that you're going through this.
ETA 2: I can use both wide and narrow crotch on Euan, but he suits narrow much better. My big thing is for side snapping over front snapping nappies - I really don't get a good fit with front snapping.
Babe I can't use narrow crotches on my girls. Leaks galore!! SO if Bilbs is a freak so are my kids ;)
Sarah and Anna - Yep any time is fine for me. DH doesnt finish work till the 23rd but has been knocking off early most days since most of the guys are on leave and they are basically setting up for the section to be closed for 12 days. They are on skeleton staff at the moment.
I need to do some more washing. It is time to do a nappy load again but we also need clothes for our holidays. Oh and exciting news, Mum and Dad are changing there trip back to while DH is away!!! I will get a break in that 12 weeks!!!!!
WOTB: some sort of CT and booster combo that DH did.
