Anna - nah not really. I did to start with - and then (I think it was winter) my nappies just wouldn't get dry in the weather (and I was reluctant to throw them in the dryer) so I just put a GK together one night - and went from there! Its now my fav.
Envoy nappies are new to the scene but so far havent heard any bad reports...they are quite wide in the crotch area so think if you prefer narrow nappies or wider ones on your bubs....otherwise they seem to be a great nappy. Sugar shots are great also and are the opposite quite narrow so again think what kind of bubs you have.

I am due to go back to work in April.. and the few times i have left Jack with his nanny (yes she is an old goat!!!) he ends up in a sposies!!! NOW i refuse to buy sposies..BUT DH says we are going to have to buy sposies for her to use...thing is..i don't want him in sposies at all..how am i going to do this??? AND.....she has a thing with CURASH cream!!!! spreads it everywhere!!!! I AM SOOOOO SCARED
any suggestions??

My mum is like that too - well not as much anymore - but she was shocking. I always said that if she wanted to use sposies - she has to supply them cos I'm not supplying them when we have perfectly good nappies there to use. but I gave her bumg's and other easy pockets so she just feels comfortable with them. Although, she did say to me that she would be happy using the old style cloth - weirdo!!!
I supply bum cream to everyone with strict instructions to not use anything else. I took all the creams away from my MIL so she couldnt' use anything but what I provided ..lol
she is a stoopid ol so & so....
may just have to buy some moo goo incase.. and just pack "nanny-goat" friendly nappies...ones with velcro :)

a while back,mum said something about having sposies at her place when i go back to work (she'll have granma day once a week) - i said i wasn't paying for them, and why would she want to waste money when i'd supply cloth and i'd be the one doing the washing. this was when i was about 6 weeks. fast forward 14 weeks, and now mum is not only keen on using mcn's, she sat with me the other night asking questions, scoping out sites, and "helping" me to order nappies! i think she's had a bit of a turn around since seeing some of the stash i'm building up! she even asked what spesh washing requirements there were in case bubba were having a bad day nappy wise... mentioned having a stash of flats and spare covers just in case - talk about a back flip!
i know she'll respect me and only use the creams i ok as she raised me with my super sensitive skin and knows that even simple stuff that is "normal" for a bubba may not be appropriate for my baby
it's been a big turnaround - and i'm kinda glad - i wouldn't have argued with her on the sposies front, prolly just wouldn't have let "granma" day happen - given my dad is a night shift worker that sleeps most of the day and wouldn't get out to my place, without that one day a week, he wouldnt see his grandaughter much - their loss...
Anna I have 3 NN. 2 Sandmans and one Mirabai which I love love love. The Mirabai is my favourite :) Gorgeous bamboo velour and with a wool cover we haven't had any leaks or wet throughs, It is so thick and thirsty. Def reccomend and it's cheaper then a lot of NN too :)
Kat simple, tell her your the parent and she WILL use ONLY what you supply or find another nanny. That is rediculous!
Its funny how these people think that sposies just make their life easier....how? When you explain (especially with AIO) all they have to do that is different is keep the nappy for you to wash rather than put in the bin, how hard can it be???? :wall: Most people I have explained that to, you can see them thinking and then suddenly the penny drops and they are keen on finding out more! And if you supply everything they need, wipes, solutions, creams and wetbags they have no excuse but to follow your wishes for your child. If they don't I'd be seriously asking why and revoking their visitation rights! :lol:
I have a question for all those experienced MCNers out there. Jett is in small nappies, little skinny legs, little skinny waist and hips, but I think their may be a chafing issue. He keeps getting red raw spots on the top of his willy and just next to that on his sack. They are the same places every time, and sometimes he gets it just above it all where the nappy sits. He is in mainly IB but I have tried other nappies and natural fibres and it seems to happen with all of them. At first I thought heat, then maybe strong wees, but I think it may be a lack of crotch room.... what do you all think? I tried snapping the nappies a bit looser but they threaten to fall off...just a little too loose! I tried Medium IB but the fit around the legs is a bit dodgy. He's only 6kgs! It all clears up with a night in sposies and the zinc based nappy cream our local chemist makes up, but then we start again.
I have said the same to many people - If you want sposies, you buy them!! I only buy them when we are going away or Em is having another dairy challenge (not looking forward to next month :()

Anna - I use the minky outer CT's with extra boosting usually. I also have a WC and a custom Dorothy the Dinosaur. Most fitteds are good for night use with a booster between the outside of the nappy and the cover. If you can be bothered knitting then you can make your own soakers for about $12 each with 8ply wool from Big W. They take 4 balls of wool each.
Well Em is a notorious nappy remover. She has figured out snaps :( We have to make sure she has something over her nappies most of the time now :(
ali i feel sorry for you! DD did it twice tonight, after the second time i refused to allow her out of bed, i ignored her and she gave up and went to sleep!

It has been brought to our attention, that over our holiday break a seller on ebay cab012008 has been selling nappies that she is marketing as being “Cheeky Butts ”
These are NOT made by us and use a completely different fabric construction to our Bum-Boos which consists of 2 body layers of Bamboo fleece and an internal layer of Hemp, with an additions sewn in booster of 2 layers of hemp. The Bum Boos also come with a 2 layer bamboo and 2 layer Hemp Lay in Booster.
Last year we were sent a couple of these by a buyer who brought them under the name Baby Roo as seen on her website planetshop (the label sewn on to them) they are copies made in china, the stitching and sewing was shocking on the samples we received. We spoke to Tracy Bruce from the Planet Shop in Kewarra Beach Townsville who is the seller of these, and confirmed where she had brought them from and that they were indeed cheap bad copies of our nappy after speaking with the manufacturer.
She then agreed to stop selling them, as we preferred this option to legal undertakings, which we are now looking into.
All Cheeky Butts Nappies and Licenced Work at Home Mums nappies have our label. No nappies are ever unlabelled.

MUMMY TUMMY - have you tried him in nappies that do up with SNAPPIES, or with SIDE SNAPS? does he get the chafing with those too?
itti bittis have an inner of suedecloth i think, is it possible he is reacting to suedecloth?
ALIOOPS - is your letterbox still full of water? can you hammer a nail through the bottom of it, to let water out?
ANNAT - night nappies - whether to use a day nappy heavily boosted, or to use a specialised night nappy - often it comes down to "do you have a heavy wetter or not"?
And a word about boosting the nappy for a night wear. if AFTER boosting, you try to do up the nappy on your bub, and there is much leg gape, STOP, undo the nappy, take out some boosting, do up the nappy and instead, put the extra boosting BETWEEN the outside of the fitted nappy, and the cover. This is called OUTER boosting.
cos leg gape is the enemy, avoid it at all costs!
if using a AIO as your night nappy, if you boost that, and you get leg gape - well you got nowhere to go with that, cos you can't glue a booster to the outisde of an AIO!
if your bub wakes often for a feed, you might be changing so often anyhoo, that a night nappy is not needed for a while. some bubs "hold on" most of the night or are light wetters. they're all different

the teething poos are the one reason that justifies our night nappy collection!!
TERU = was it you posting about the smelly wee? that's the ammonia. does get worse when they're teething. i wash daily (in hot water) because of it.
NEWBORN STASH? who was asking about what else you need?
- nappy free time mat
- nappy rash cream that is NOT petroleum based (for beginnings of nappy rash)
- nappy rash cream that IS petroleum based (JIC of really bad rash, when NOTHING else is working)
- baby powder (Gaia) for the sweaty chubby thighs phase
- half a metre of micropolarfleece, to cut up into liners, buy it at spotlight
- nb sized bamboo boosters from sustainablehempproducts
- cloth breastpads like the minky ones from mazalicious
- a big pile (30 - 40) cotton velour facewashers to use as your cloth wipes
- a water spray bottle
- a clothes horse
- some zippered laundry bags for keepign some nappies separate e.g dark fleece - so the white linty mcn dont malt allover your dark fleece mcn
- a wetbag or two for going out
= a pail liner wetbag for trips away
- a portable change mat for the nappy bag
- washing instructions on a sheet, stuck near washer, JIC helpful rellies attempt to wash the mcn, after the birth
you don't want them ruining your mcn, it does happen, many people on this thread can give you examples
use for that bmaboo fleece?
hotwash it twice
hotdry it twice
iron it flat on the edges, it tends to curl up
you could cut out two 30 x 30cm squares, overlock them together, that's a bamboo foldup.
doesnt' matter if it's fluffy or smooth side out.
i would keep it to two layers max, to give you quicker drying time.
two layers of 30 x 40, overlocked together, for when baby is past nb stage
these very simple trifolds (cos you fold them in three to use them) are
- THE actual nappy (inside a leg gusset cover) when baby is a nb
- the insert in a pocket nappy, the booster in a night nappy, when baby is past nb stage
so you just keep using them, but in different ways.
my fave trifolds are one layer bamboo fleece, one layer bamboo terry, but two layers of b fleece is still very useful.

well Gab wore her lou lou yesterday .. it only got washed once then on to her butt... it did leak a bit ..but im sure i gotta wash it more and boost it a bit , as i thought that anything with a hidden layer of PUL esp QC will be prone to leaks !
any way .. Nixon got up at 4 am to do wees on the potty !! his NN was dry too .. aww so proud .. BUT he never went back to sleep .. sooo tired me is ..
Oh and my mum has issues with MCN too ... too bad i got no sposies in this house !!
and MOO GOO is great stuff for the chafing ... Gabriella is 5 mths and 6kgs too .. but she aint skinny , sometimes i have to make sure i haven done the nappy up over her fat rolls .. gotta make sure its right up near her crotch :lol:

I have tried side snaps, I have a Berry Plush nappy, but because I only have one it is slower on the rotation. It also doesn't fit him well, it could be me not getting the adjustment right but it never seems to sit right after I have picked him up off the changetable. I might take a little more notice next time I use it though. I have tried a snappy and again, I am the novice. I can never get it to grip where I want it to and then the wings fall out from under it.... aggghhhh I am just a nightmare at using them!! I need some one-on-one instruction!! :rofl: Yes IB do have suedecloth as the inner and I did think that, but he still seems to be getting the reaction from some of the other non-suede inners, such as Bubblebubs velour. I am thinking though that I might get some fleece and cut up for liners to see if it is the suedecloth. The only reason I am not thinking it is a reaction to the suedecloth is because it never affects his bum or all the other parts it is touching, just his poor willy and sack!! And not always his whole willy, just the top of it like it is rubbing on the nappy.
Any other suggestions for AIO nappies (I couldn't convince DH to use the fitteds and covers, they are just for Mummy to use at home!!) that have a narrow crotch, lowish rise and don't have a suedecloth inner?
