LOL mel... small fold...would be like a g-string on Jack hehehehehe and he is in medium IB's first lot of snaps off the smallest snapping...
katones it was me who swears by bicarb... my life would not be the same without bi carb soda... my house would not be clean, my nappies would stink (more ;)) and my hair... would still be chemically treated....
Sorry... I'll get off my tangent with bicarb (when it stops working :p)
AHHHHH its to hot
hi ya chickies.....my eyes are sweating its that bad!

Chrsity- can you share you bicard hair treatment trick..... please I know it not nappy related but i live hair stuff too.
Rayray- snap we were posting same time!
still hot here to 40 degrees and it 9:10pm... can see its not cooling down anytime soon
but on the good point my nappies are dry within hr
it was meant to be 41 today, but went over 45 (!!!) and i spent from 11.30 - 6pm at a big shopping centre, to escape the heat. Whilst there, bilby had a Nappy from Hell, so i feel qualified to give you an answer.
- i opened said Nappy from Hell in the Parents Room change area
- thought Oh MY GOD
- then i relaxed cos i remembered there was a flushable liner inside that nappy
- picked up the flushable liner at both ends - thought Phewl
- flushed flushable liner down the toddler loo in the Parents Room (after bilby was changed and safe)
- and thanked my lucky stars for flushable liners!!!! LOL.
when i had a much younger bub, and flushable liners were not going to help me, i would lay a baby wipe OVER said poo, and roll up the nappy, throw in wetbag.
i have heard of people carrying TWO wetbags at a time. One to put Extra Spooky Nappies in , and one for all the easy peasy wet nappies. I have always put them all in the one bag. Whatever you prefer i think. no hard rules and certainly no-one is there to smack your fingers if you do it "your way". entirely up to your discretion.
NB Nappy from Hell - everything was contained, pootaiment fabbo, just revolting to look at when i opened it up.
but i do hate cleaning up a poo nappy when out, i use loads of baby wipes, when at home, one or two cloth wipes MAX does a much better job. Water rocks. i feel like i already travel with the kitchen sink, i cannot face carrying facewashers AS WELL in the already jampacked nappy bag. i'm sure i WILL find the perfect nappybag - once bilbs is tt-d!!
wotbb: KK AIO, conked out in middle of loungeroom floor, where a/c is. we'll be sleeping in the lounge for next week i think (week of heatwave conditions).
Teru - i have never seen the Bummi totes, i have not heard they are awful. Just make sure you measure out the dimensions, so you are aware of the size you are buying. i bought a Swaddlebees pail liner (for a travelling wetbag) and i got a huge shock, got it is ENORMOUS.
Well, I nearly flooded the house AGAIN this morning. What is wrong with my brain?? Ooohhhh, that's right. I toasted it to a nice shrivelly little crouton yesterday! Ack! It is TOO HOT. And I worked in a commercial kitchen in Dubai where it gets to 65 degrees without even trying... but it's still too hot here. But no major dramas. The house is mostly gorgeous 50's lino that needed a clean anyway. DS only polishes the bits in the middle where he commando-crawls up the hallway! Thankfully all the power points are waist-high though.
Gigi, nice work on the Nappy From Hell! I am heading to the mall shortly to chill for a bit, and was dreading having one of those to deal with there. Makes for stink-paranoia on the bus coming home! But DS has been telling me none too subtly that he needs to go in the mornings, and he went on the potty again!! (That's 6 times now! woot!) Mind you, his method of communication right now is the alarming sound of velcro tabs being ripped off in the vicinity of my face whilst I'm still sleeping! So it's get him on the potty or get that mess in my bed. EEEWWW!!!
maz- let me know if the amber necklace helps your migraines, pleeeease!? I love mine. My mum gets shocking migraines too, like once a week, so maybe she needs one too. sunshine & lolliepops, ey? hmmmm.... *wanders off looking vague, credit card twirling idly...*
WOHB: Blueberry
Woo hoo, or should I say Woo moo?
I got Moo mail.
I got MSM and some shampoo and conditioner. She also put in a little sample of milk wash. This is good for newborns eh? was thinking of putting it in the take to the hospy pile?
Am waiting on fluffy mail from WC, 2 blings and a night, hope her machine is fixed.
Hope all you southerners are getting by/coping with this heat. It sounds awful, my poor step sis who lives in melb, had GD thru her pregnancy, a CS for a breech bub 2 wks ago (which devestated her) She had a 40 deg temp on sunday morning and was in hospital on a drip with mastitis for the day, and on monday when hubby went back to work, he was laid off. To top it all off her aircon is now deciding to take the p!ss
Am glad I am in QLD......
Fluffy Mail!!!
1 NB Bummis Super Brite cover
1 small Motherease Rikki Cover
2 NB Motherese Sandies Fitteds
1 NB Bubblebubs Fitted
I have ordered some HH mama pads for the PP period. Will have to buy more though.
Waiting on some other fluff too.
WOEB: Some sort of CT and a soaker so she doesnt undo it.
WOSB: Bumble Bee CT.
If you google "no poo" a few alternatives come up but basically, you use 1tbsp of bicarb with a bit of water & make a paste. Rub it into your scalp... I mean just the roots of your hair and massage well... take your time with that bit. Then you rinse with vinegar, generally they say to use apple cider vinegar. Its a natural way to keep your hair clean and not smelly... it works really well with thick/course hair. I did it for a while until I ran out of cider vinegar and then forgot to do it. But it works better for me than the hair products I used to buy for $30 each!
ummmm nappies.... going well. The child care Jovie goes to loves BumG's which is great.
moo goo is on its way!!!!! sore butt boy here :(
nappies all dry today :D
fluff mail here - and i just can't find any enthusiasm for anything today (even with the extras - thanks Maz!). DH and I are in discussion as to whether to stay or go at the moment - fires within a couple of km's of town - so far it seems to be skirting town, but i'm stressed. don't want to leave him here, don't really want to stay... lots of baby stuff ready to pacck up and take if i have to leave - car will look interesting... need to organise clothes for us - but that's easy enough...
BG, Plenty of wind blowing the fire in the opposite direction vibes headed your way!! They get a bit scary when they are that close. Maybe ring the local fire station and find out which way it is expected to go.
Well I need to fold nappies tonight, might do that after the grocery shopping.
BG according to the CFA website the Boolara fire is listed as Small and Safe as of a few minutes ago so i think you are okay...if I have the right fire that is!
I hope everything stays ok BG!
Got the preloved haute pockets today, fit great and seem ok so far - once I figured out how to stuff them correctly
Thank you all for your assistance and advice as I delve into cloth... Maz suggested research and that is what I have done... and now I have Qs
What does OOAK mean? I saw it on the buy for baby site…
and now for my really dumb questions… after this you will all believe I am the biggest dill in the world… but I really hope they aren’t really silly Qs
Dumbbum Qs
- Terryflats/prefolds - will I have to fold nappies like my mum did with me or are the prefolds called so because they are already folded (or moulded)? If I have to fold – how on earth/where on earth can I be taught this? If they don’t require folding what will I have to do with them?
- What is the difference between cloth and MCN or is it just different names for the same thing?
- What will each nappy require – I see talk of inserts and covers – are these separate or sold as the set?
- Will I require a separate washing machine for the nappies? Or can I just use my current one? Will it affect my clothes at all?
Thanking you all in advance
Nah, it's not the Boo town fire hun - it's the Mirboo North and Delburn complex that are a drama at the moment.
