DH took Sophia out today and left me to supposedly have a bit of 'me' time. I spent the morning doing housework and in the afternoon DS didn't want to sleep. I finally managed to sit down and start some quilting only about 1/2 hour before they got back home. Oh well, better than nothing I suppose. I complained to him that I spent the morning doing housework and he said that hanging up nappies didn't count as housework. I didn't argue with him because if I did he might get narky about me buying some more. It's been such a muggy day that all my fitteds and AIOs are still damp despite hanging up outside all day. :(
eek u guys reminded me abt my nappies in the machine...
Hey!!
MM - I know what you mean!!! My puffer always expires before I need it though  I really should get a new script for it.
Sammi - for Caleb he will get there!! I hope it doesn't take him long!!
Kat - I need a maid too. Or a dishwasher!!
Anna - You are welcome to come and fiddle with my sewing machine hun. I hate doing the buttons too, I got to the point that it is always DH's buttons that go so he sews them together himself now. I am soooo tempted to buy too but I need to check our bank balance and make a payment on my car.
Hi All!
I've been MIA but I'm back!
I think I'm WAY behind - I've read the three pages for this thread so far but won't go back to closed threads!
I read something about a bunch of people leaving??? Something big must have happened while I was away! And now I'm wondering who all is leaving - guess I'll find out over time if no one wants to/ or can share!
DS wore his first sposie in nearly 2 months due to my pregnancy brain - just didn't stock the nappy bag well enough!
So glad the heatwave is over for the time being. Pregnancy and 40 degree heat just don't mix! Hope everyone else in the Sydney area found ways to stay cool.
I'm drooling over some nappies on B4B but alas I'm broke!
I'm exhausted and not really discussing nappies well so best head off to bed!
WOHB: BBH bamboo and Tots Bots fleece cover
Check out the messages forum Heidi. I can assure you I am not going anywhere for a little while, I had my break over christmas / new years.
Maybe I should look on B4B.
Three pages in a day??
wowzah.
OK for LS/room setup, change table will be in bubs room. If I have the LS in the ensuite, the nappy bucket and lid, with osme nice lavender oil or something, will be in the ensuite as well. And then I'll take it to the laundry when its time to wash.
If its in the other toilet, then bucket will be in laundry. I guess Im mostly concerned that DS will play with and/or break it if its in "his" toilet.
Lol Heidi, wb! I *think* it's one person leaving, one taking a break, and one drastically cutting back her BB time. And a good dash of commotion, curiosity and confusion in equal measures and you get a Mass Exodus. :p
Riv's still in sposies (except for the nappy or two after poops). His poops are AWFUL. (Jols can testify, if she caught a glimpse) I thought it was teething, but it's been far too long, so he's off dairy, wheat and grapes, and I'm hoping things will settle. Can you give toddlers yakult?
Cruising along nicely with Si and cloth though.
 That's tough Mel, I hope you and your dp can find some time together to try and see eye to eye on things.
Nelle - aricyn's poops are foul too - we started on the oat milk and rice milk today to see if that makes a difference....
Nelle - Try Inner health Kids, It is dairy free, so if it is an issue with lactose that will help. Sounds a bit like what Em's poos are like with Dairy. You do not want to get anywhere near those!!!
I have just spent quite a bit on nappies . A few pink nappies, some PUL covers (including ME rikki) and some extra boosters. I got a 6 pack of pink Bamboo prefolds though.
i answered you, very thoroughly, in the last thread shell. you weren't ignored, petal!
Charmlea - for your four trip
i've been told "night nappies" for a plane trip (on the Nappycino travelling with cloth threads)
for your four month old, i would take "whatever you get pootainment in, with"
for Nixon, i would take pockets and ai2's that you already know suit him.
if you are going to buy mcn specifically for this trip?
suggestions:
double layer bamboo trifolds, maybe the 2L size bamboo prefolds on sale at booroi might be the right size (length) to stuff pockets for Nixon?
quick dry bits for bots ai2's (front snaps, microfleece inner)
greenkids pockets and bumg pockets (if suedecloth inner, aplix closure and OSFA suit Nixon)
happy heiny either sized or OSFA fitted pockets, get the solid colours, there is an option of snaps AND aplix on the same nappy.
i'd avoid fitteds for Nixon (due to drying time) i agree with you completely
if you gotta take fitteds for your nb, so be it. unless you using prefolds + cover, cos they will dry faster than fitteds. Pootainment is the most crucial thing in nappying a nb, so if you make any exceptions, i'd make them for the nb.
i understand why you got the m/l KK AIO - such a bargain price! it's worth it, waiting til she fits it better.
ALI - aw, you make me feel all clucky, you find out you're having a girl, and today buying pink fluff, that's LOVELY!!! so happy for you! pink prefolds  (just cos i'm not a pink girl, doesn't mean i can't be happy for you, nesting for your wee gal.) those booroi prefolds are a subtle pink.
MISSY - very early in my internet life (2001 i started), i got an email from someone, with a link to this article called "NETIQUETTE" - obviously i was being told to pull my head in and learn "how" to be, online - i was so embarrassed.
TERU - night nappies are all about observation. whatever you put them to sleep in, if it's working - fine. it's when you pick up a drenched bubba, see wet sheets, baby has rash from long time in wet nappy, thats when you reach into your "mental mcn toolbox" of - what can i try now? - to increase absorbency. You do it, as you need to. I would say, for RIGHT NOW, the magicall is fine for your bub. every bub is different. all you can do is observe your bub, and keep repeating what works.
there are excellent threads on nappycino regarding "travelling with cloth" from camping with no laundry, to overseas trips where you are at a different place each night.
i have no clue who has left/is leaving BB lil precious, so we can be "in the dark", together!
whoever got to see "Australia" (was it Eugenia), i hope you had a great night out, i'd love to see that film too.
good luck with TT-ing Caleb Raven.
WOTBB: KK AIO with babylegs to keep the darn mozzies off my bilby's delicious (to mozzies) little legs
Kitten - are you after any more natural/organic mcn ideas? i went down that road when bilbs reacted really badly to synthetic inners, last year. happy to share with you.
do you have a sugar peas cover? to snap in that sugarpeas $12 snap in insert into? i used the right words, but it really doens't look right does it?
waves at Beatrix!
Errrrrrrr an Iishfly fitzsall nappy just randomly made its way into my shopping cart. You guys should have warned me that it happens ;)
Its so cute, is blue with a VW kombi on the bum. Jett is going to FLIP when he see's it, he just loves kombi's and Filmore off the movie Cars
ETA - oh and I have a ? for cloth mama's re cloth pads. Whats the deal there? Seems a bit icky to me but I was thinking of getting some as "backups" for those first weeks of PP bleeding as I always get paranoid and double up on the maternity pads.
*Mod hat on*
Hey clothies!
After quite a few forum guidelines breaches in here over the last few months, the mod team has put together some guidelines to help it run smoothly and for you as members to know what is and isn't permitted.
I'm sure you'll be glad to know there are no new rules involved.
We have used the existing BellyBelly Forum Guidelines and summarized and adapted a few points that are continual issues for this section.
You can find the Cloth Nappy Forum Guidelines HERE or stickied to the menu in the Cloth Nappy Discussion thread.
Please read them and if you have any questions you can PM or email myself, Tanya or Suse or our Admin Christy.
This doesn't replace the BellyBelly Fourm Guidelines and rest of the guidelines are still applicable. The BellyBelly Forum Guidelines can be found in full HERE
Thankyou!
*Mod hat off*
well first night Ash didn't poop in his NN for a few days haha yay for us, meant he slept a lot better last night and so did I :)
Thankyou Gigi. I will go back and have a look
Good morning ladies! Matisse is still asleep in her BBB, I wonder what suprise I will get when she wakes? Last night i changed her - and as I lefter her bumb to put the new nappy underneath BOOM! poo explosion, shot out about a metre and went all over the cupboard and the carpet........ lol - our first poo "leak"!! bet there would have been more in sposies!
anna - i have just invested in some cloth pads, i wish i had some before for the pp bleeding, even just to have one on for a little while every couple of days to give my skin a break from the plastic pads would have been lovely, so i'd say grab a few... but get the longer ones ;).....
gigi - i ordered 3 silk liners to try, I have 9 BBB's, one BBH, 3 jamtots hemp fitteds, and have ordered 2 sugar peas snap in nappies. I am also thinking of ordering some of the Sugar Peas 2 Size Hemp Fitted Cloth Nappy from ozbaby trends (if they are still there come pay day!). I also have 6 wool covers....... I would love to hear any suggestions of other natural/organic fibre nappies you may have found good? and no, I dont have a sugarpeas cover, but the loveybums ones are quite high in the rise, so i think they will be ok over the sugarpeas nappies?
I have noticed that my eczema is flaring up on my hands, I wonder if this is a combination of extra hand washing and touching microfibre? addmittedly though my bum g's are the reserves, everything else gets used first..
AJP - thansk for the heads up on the sorbitol
WOHB - bbb/loveybums wool crepe cover
someone asked about monkey doodles swim nappies...we had 2 for DS and they were great, no problems at all.
Ive got a monkey doodle swim nappy and we have never used it :o...he just goes free ball and ah im to lazy lol
Kitten - I cant micro fibre and yes had the same reaction as you....all over my hands up to my wrists...BLAH!!!!!
MissMel - big hugs chicki...kick his butt and get him on the right track...thts all Jed needs frmo me every now and then...but yes DH/DP are pains in the rectums..
Anna - I've been using cloth pad's since i had Vy..shiat over 2 years :0 and I have no regrets... admittedly I did have to get use to the difference ;) and there is an 'odour' but I now dont soak mine at all...I dry pail them in a container by themselves and then wash them every 3 days seperate to everything else. I think once you get the hang of it you wonder why you didnt do it in the first place (bit like cloth nappies ;) )
I have a little girl who is saying 'Shiat' all the time atm. I am trying so hard not to react but do you realise how dame cute it sounds 'Oh mummy I did a shiat' and those big eye's looking at me..ah how can I be angry.
Another emotional day for me today......1 year ago our lives changed....friggen depressing :(
ok off to do the fmaily thing
WOMB - rockmelon IB that needs a new snap (dont ask)
 Maz.. hope today isn't too difficult for you
ETA: has anyone noticed how much the Happy Babes nappies (on ebay) look like bumgenius!?!?!?
Ah just lift arse and move on...have debriefed in Mateauz thread so bit better...cried enough for today.
You know Ive been thinking heaps about this copy stuff lately cause alot of makers are getting their knickers in a twist..and to rightly too. I think its not fair to take away someones thunder and copy the cut and design of a nappy....the make up so to speak is a bit harder to comprehend of some but so should we all point the finger at all MCN makers and tarnish them cause they all have to use swing machines and overlockers to make their products. Its starting to get a bit out of hand..and OMG the jealousy and over all *****yness of some sellers even..god...the MCN is big enough for everyone to have a slice IFYKWIM. were do we draw the line????
OK maz of her big box now
I was just making a comment cos I thought BumG's were patented?? (I'm sure I read that somewhere......) They are different in the way that they have microfleece on the inside where I *think* bumg's are suedecloth (aren't they!? I think so.. not sure.. having one of Maz's brain farts.. )
sorry babe..didnt mean to come out like a tart :(
Ive made notice of 2 WAHM nappys having almost the same booster system adn i was pretty sure that one of them has a patent as well.
had a little chat with dp last night, i can take all my nappies with us to both adel & hk :D
oh, and im allowed to get more nappies  need more WBs. we got a bbh one, any suggestions what i should get?!
happy chinese new year everyone, it's tomoro. more money hehe!!
afternoon ladies....
forever washing nappies here!!!!! oh well at least i am keeping up to date with the washing :D
I can't believe Jack is 15 weeks old today...nearly 15 weeks in cloth nappies!!!! honestly i didn't think i would last this long.... thought i would have given up by now...BUT i am soooo glad i haven't failed my MCN journey....
WOJB ~ cloth'd up fitted / maz cheetah minky
I can't remember if anyone answered so I will double check - Will using liners help to avoid Tar stains when Leah is a NB? Or should we just use sposies for a few days so as to avoid Tar stains?
Gigi - I always got mainly neutral nappies before, so unless we have a big change of heart in the next 5 years, I wont be having a boy. I have permission to buy pink now because I am not likely to be using these nappies for a boy.
 Maz. I will read Mat's thread in a minute. You know we love you.
Kat - Well done!! I am hoping I can really get into a routine with the girls when I have 3 needing attention and doing the washing and BFing.
WOEB: BumG
WOSB: Red Moo Moo CT
well i am over everything!!!!
Maz..just thought i would tell you..THANKS for making Jack his baptism cover...BUT he isn't going to get to use it :( MIL from hell is causing troubles again..so his baptism will now have to be cancelled (is next sunday)
oh well at least he has a neat nappy cover with his name on it :D
WOJB ~ Cloth'd up / cheetah cover (schleepin')
not sure if im in the right place , but my dd is 13 months and we have a range of brands one home made = 10 modern cloth .
i was wondering what you ladies do when your going swimming ? as ill never use the rest of the packet of the disposiable swimming nappies as we rarley go swimming away from home . i wondered what you do .
im talking the toddler pool not dunking under i have mostly "pockets" including two branded "Baby Bloomers" there white Vinal outside and a pink fleece inside , i usualy use a bamboo insert inside , do u think this would work , other wise i have 4 pea pods but thought they wouldnt repel with water off the out side , a princess pod which is simlar to the one bum genius pocket i have .
Sorry to Bom Bard i just wanted to ask the experts
Thanks Cheryle
:hide: go go mel......can i come out...im so sorry babe..Im having the worst foot in mouth day today :( I think im gonna run away
i dont know about us being experts Cheryle  Ive got a monkey doodles swim nappy (as do a few others) and I know some people just use a PUL cover for their bubs when swiming out ;)
I had the hardest time finding the dame classified..thank god for the search button!!!
Yep have listed stuff in there but not nappies.
thanks for your posts girls but it shouldnt be an excuse for me :( ..im going to turn of and will return when maz can play nice again
Ali - I was just thinking of getting some old sheets or some bamboo/hemp material from spotlight and cutting it up as "pads" that I can just throw straight out, tar poo and all. Granted it doesnt last longer than a week so you wouldnt need too much. Unless the flushable liners are suitable? If their like normal liners you get from the supermarket then Im thinking it *could* seep through?
ali - i was so worried about that! but by manner of not being able to wash (being in hossy after the homebirth) dh left the tar stained ones till i was able to wash - the poo had dried completely and it just came off, like dry mud - didnt even stain!
so just let it dry, would never have thought of that but it couldnt be helped and it worked really well!
Wow Kitt3n!! I might just tell DH to let those ones dry in the backyard and I will deal with the poo when they dry!!
i find right now if i leave a 'mr whippy' pooey nappy for abit and it dries abit..it 'peels' off straight into the dunny... haven't had any pooey stains yet (fingers crossed)
lucky me (well NOT soo lucky) i didn't have to change ANY yucky NB poos :D
thanks
how many posts .. oh i cant catch up . and i cant be bothered going back on them either ..
i got some natures child wipes today , they are so big ... i should have bought the face washers to use for wipes ... oh well ..
Alioops - i love the name Leah .. its my name :)
DH and i agreed no more sposeies in the house ever !! we stayed at PIL's last night and had nix in jox , but we were going to a bday party and did nt want him to get upset if he had a accident so we put him in a Pull up .... the sposie made his but sweat so much it gave him rash , even though he didnt wee or poop in the nappy ... glad to have him back home in unnees
WOGB - cloth'd up fitted and a layer of sweat
Weeeeeeeeee now I have a ton of fluffy mail coming my way!
On top of the Iishfly Im now waiting on some HH boosters, 2 preloved Berryplush (dalmation and leopard) and a Very baby NN.
Now I just need me some large covers. Then I can start looking for medium size nappies
Anna, where did you get the VB NN?
Friend of a friend :)
Hi All!
Okay, I went into the messages section and got myself caught up on the news of what's happening and all!
Anyone used prowraps (maybe spelled proraps) nappy covers before? They have leg gussets so I thought I might invest in a couple if they are good! I have decided I will try to collect at least two leg gusset covers in each size and save them specifically for when I go out with this bubba to help with poo-splosions when we are out and about!
Someone (sorry can't remember who - maybe Alioops??) mentioned getting some ME Rikis? Did you buy them new? Or get them 2nd hand somewhere? I'm having GREAT difficulties getting second hand covers with leg gussets - which I understand since they are so great to have!
Oh, my sister (who just got married in November) is pregnant with her first and due in late September and she is planning to use cloth as well! WOOHOO!! I just sent her an email (she lives in Canada) with lots of suggestions and links for her to browse!! It is all so very exciting!
I've decided I won't have a baby shower for this pregnancy but have mentioned to a couple of friends and family members that if anyone wants to give me anything they can give me money for nappies! DANG cloth nappies are addictive!!!
Off to continue enjoying the tennis since DH seems to have fallen asleep with DS so won't get a chance to spend any time with him tonight! This is becoming a habit and I'm starting to get annoyed!
Oh, another question... when I use my Tots Bots Fleece cover at night DS is waking up with damp and exceedingly stinky pj bottoms. Is this normal? I know fleece (as well as wool) is using evaporation but are their clothes supposed to be damp and smelly??? Any tips or suggestions would be goo!
Oh and NELLE - good to see you back - I have MISSED you!! Was it you that had a groovy little drawing about the best way to use prefolds with newborns? I keep hearing about pad folding them but not sure if I'm thinking of the right thing when I imagine what that is!! HELP!! I really want to use cloth full-time straight away with this new bub!! I MIGHT use sposies for the black tar but not sure I need to do that even!
WOHB: BBH bamboo with Bummis Whisper Soft Frog Cover
Heidi - Yep it was me, I got them new from NN. The postie will love me this week!! or the next few weeks!!
Well today has just been a drying and folding day so really not much interesting.
