Weeeeeeeeee now I have a ton of fluffy mail coming my way!
On top of the Iishfly Im now waiting on some HH boosters, 2 preloved Berryplush (dalmation and leopard) and a Very baby NN.
Now I just need me some large covers. Then I can start looking for medium size nappies
Anna, where did you get the VB NN?
Friend of a friend :)
Hi All!
Okay, I went into the messages section and got myself caught up on the news of what's happening and all!
Anyone used prowraps (maybe spelled proraps) nappy covers before? They have leg gussets so I thought I might invest in a couple if they are good! I have decided I will try to collect at least two leg gusset covers in each size and save them specifically for when I go out with this bubba to help with poo-splosions when we are out and about!
Someone (sorry can't remember who - maybe Alioops??) mentioned getting some ME Rikis? Did you buy them new? Or get them 2nd hand somewhere? I'm having GREAT difficulties getting second hand covers with leg gussets - which I understand since they are so great to have!
Oh, my sister (who just got married in November) is pregnant with her first and due in late September and she is planning to use cloth as well! WOOHOO!! I just sent her an email (she lives in Canada) with lots of suggestions and links for her to browse!! It is all so very exciting!
I've decided I won't have a baby shower for this pregnancy but have mentioned to a couple of friends and family members that if anyone wants to give me anything they can give me money for nappies! DANG cloth nappies are addictive!!!
Off to continue enjoying the tennis since DH seems to have fallen asleep with DS so won't get a chance to spend any time with him tonight! This is becoming a habit and I'm starting to get annoyed!
Oh, another question... when I use my Tots Bots Fleece cover at night DS is waking up with damp and exceedingly stinky pj bottoms. Is this normal? I know fleece (as well as wool) is using evaporation but are their clothes supposed to be damp and smelly??? Any tips or suggestions would be goo!
Oh and NELLE - good to see you back - I have MISSED you!! Was it you that had a groovy little drawing about the best way to use prefolds with newborns? I keep hearing about pad folding them but not sure if I'm thinking of the right thing when I imagine what that is!! HELP!! I really want to use cloth full-time straight away with this new bub!! I MIGHT use sposies for the black tar but not sure I need to do that even!
WOHB: BBH bamboo with Bummis Whisper Soft Frog Cover
Heidi - Yep it was me, I got them new from NN. The postie will love me this week!! or the next few weeks!!
Well today has just been a drying and folding day so really not much interesting.
Had a friend with her DH today to look into MCNs. She has a son the same age as Ty and is also 6wks off being due again and when i was at her place on Thursday she fell in love with Ty's nappies. OK, so he was in a Blueberry but you know, they are pretty cute regardless. I'd sent her emails with info on types and different sites, and she also contacted Janie at theweewuns and I think she's pretty keen. She'll have to convince DH but I'm sure the $$ savings will convince him to go cloth. I also suggested to her that she should theme her baby shower in a couple of weeks to be a MCN themed party and if people ask what she wants she should say MCNs or a donation for MCNs or a gift voucher from somewehre like theweewuns cause they're close to where we live.
Ty's been sick all day today. He's got a fever and is pooing constantly. I've had to put in back in sposies cause for the pootainment factor. Hopefully he'll have a good night's sleep and wake up feeling better tomorrow.
After missing out on the flag nappy on GD the other day I decided to attempt to make a cover. I had a look at the range of covers I've got here and designed a somewhat combination of the 4 different styles. I've made it out of fleece and I've put the Southern Cross on the bum. I was going to do a flag but decided that it was too complicated for a first attempt.
I might go finish it now rather than surf... oh and I better get the nappies out of the machine.
WOHM: sposie :(
Anna - a Kombi mcn - that sounds so cute!
i wish i had had cloth mama pads for post partnum bleeding. The sposie maternity pads really irritated my skin. Now i'm using mama pads, i actually don't mind having AF, it feels much nicer to the skin, to have lovely soft fabric against you, not plastic/paper stuff that has been bleached. Makes me feel a bit pampered actually.
Kitt3n - my hands have been red raw sometimes (since i had bilby) i put it down to so much handwashing. I've been using the moo goo double cream to help it - but i don't have excma as such. I have been avoiding microfibre for last year and my hands actually are better now, i had not really put that together, until you mentioned it.
another organic nappy i like, is the snap in Loveybums sherpa nappy. You snap it into a Loveybums cover if you want an ai2 effect. i don't have a Loveybums cover (cos they don't do sidesnap) but i do have a sugarpeas cover, so i snap it into that one. Again, like the sugarpeas snap in glorified prefold, it also dries really fast.
i would try to snap in the Sugarpeas snap ins you have just bought, into your Loveybums covers. For my two year old, i add a bamboo booster, but at your bub's age, i doubt you'd need that yet.
boosting is like layering our clothes, it's handy to be able to add a bit, to get more use out of an item.
Did you realise you typed LOVEYBUMS for the first time, not LOVELYBUMS? LOL, i was just getting used to your extra letter too!
TERU - Happy Chinese New Year! do you know what year this is? as in, 2009, the year of the (insert the name of an animal).
what is a WB?
HEIDI - pro-raps are good.
i would only get them in each size, if you are planning to use PREFOLDS all the way thru.
Cos covers with leg gussets are designed to be used with PREFOLDS.
good discussion about nb tar poo and if it's a problem or not, just a few posts above your post.
What do use as a night nappy under the tots bots fleece cover?
No cover will work forever, if you don't have sufficient layers of absorbency in the ngiht nappy, for your child's output, length of sleep adn age. So how many layers is your child wetting thru?
what are the pj bottoms made from? are they loose or tight around the crotch (possible causing a compression leak, esp at the crotch).
does the cover cover 100% of the nappy.
so many things it COULD be.
fleece breathes better than PUL
wool breathes better than fleece. plus it soaks up liquid.
great Night Nappy threads on Nappycino to read too.
WARDYgIRL - sorry to hear Ty is unwell.\
Cheryle - welcome!
swim nappies?
imse vimse at nurturenappies
monkey doodles, not sure who is selling them now
diaperaps at darlingsdownunder
splashabouts at darlingsdownunder
iPlay at calumloves
bubblebubs at bubblebubs
motherease at nurturenappies
bummi swimmers at theweewuns
my child has just grown out of her imse vimse ones (sidesnap on one hip) and they were excellent. now she's using a motherease pair (sidesnaps on both hips), also good, but i liked the inner of the imse vimse one better. and i always put them on bilbs with one side already snapped up. so i guess i like the IV ones the best (from what i've tried). i didn't like the eenees or the bummi ones either. (aplix snagged on MY bathers - argh!!!).
the idea of swim nappies is - wee goes thru, poo gets contained. yank your kid out the water the second they poo, change them into another pair of swim nappy before you put them back in the pool. so the swim nappies are much trimmer and lighter than pullups, cos there isn't the pretence of the absorbency bit. the whole gist of it is the leg fit.
wotbb: kester kovers aio - putting on a nappy is such a fight these days, easiest to just have one thing to put on my squirmy little monkey.
Maz - thanks for sharing about Mat in the other thread.
hi all,
jst a quick one today. off to go shopping at ddu then got a few houses to visit before dinner with my parents.
i love my osfm but its a pity that they r mainly solid colours. would love to get a few sized but not sure how to measure bub so i get a good fit. how should it b done?
gigi- 2009 is yr of the ox. WB=wetbags. some1 else replied me with that abbreviation so i jst used it agen hehe.
Gigi:
Thanks for the help with the proraps! The ones I'm looking at (and have bid on) are size small! I'm basically looking at using covers with leg gussets up to six months of age when the baby will start solids and hopefully not have such explosive poo. So I'm thinking the largest size I would both getting with leg gussets would be medium.
Sorry to have asked about the tar poo again when it was already discussed earlier in the thread. I realized after I posted my comments! I'm only 14 weeks pregnant and the pregnancy brain issues are driving me NUTS!
As for the fleece cover - I think I mentioned it is a Tots Bots one! He always wears a BBH bamboo nappy at night (except the one night he wears the unique nappy fleece pocket that I bought) and he very rarely wets through the BBH bamboo - especially right now when it has been hot as I have to really push him to drink enough fluids.
I don't think I'm getting compression leaks because it isn't really wet in any one place - just feels damp and yuck all over his bottom. He generally has been wearing loose cotton pj's at night (shorts and t-shirts or singlets) and they don't seem to be horribly tight even though his bum is bigger in the night nappies.
So I stumped. Because when he wears a PUL cover to bed (with the same nappy) his shorts are dry and the smell is MUCH more contained - at least until we open the cover to change the nappy!
I hope everyone has nice plans for Australia Day! We are getting together with a friend of mine and her four children for a BBQ and then fireworks at a park near her house. It should be fun. DH has just left for work and so DS and I will bus and train to my friend's (DS is thrilled about this) and DH will hopefully get finished with work in time to get there for dinner.
Also my friend is giving me a STACK more nappies as her youngest has fully potty trained now so I'm so excited to see what new nappies I am about to acquire! In these difficult financial times I am really blessed to have friends and acquaintences who bless me with wonderful nappies for my son!!
WOHB: FJ MM pocket nappy stuffed with hemp - though about to change and dress him
weewuns have the MD swim nappies
Yep Heidi, it was me with the drawing, the link to the homepage that that drawing is in can be found in the drop down menu you get when you click on my name.
And yes, I do realise that was a very long sentence. :p
Weeeeeeeeeeeeee Im now the proud owner of a much famed Sandman bamboo night nappy, although preloved
Ha Dh must be impressed with MCNs because when I mentioned my sister saying I should be buying her some for her new baby as a present he said "Uh if your gonna spend that kind of moolah, you spend it on our boys"
I think thats a go-ahead to shop shop shop dont ya think ;)
nice work Anna!
i just had to pop in - i went to look at Iishfly again to see if it's back up - and the cow nappy was there - so i has ordered it! woot!
i think i have a problem though - Gremlin now has cow nappies, cow baby legs, cow blanket... and i'm looking at cow clothes... hmmmmm - am i setting myself up for a cow of a child?
moooo BG! It's the year of the ox! What better way to celebrate?
umm.. nappy related, well... I wish DP wouldn't keep harping on about MCN being hard just because I made him change a big stinker first thing this morning. We've had this discussion (translate: I've lectured him ) so many times before... I think it's suddenly hit him that I'm right (duh! ;) ) just this afternoon tho, because he has really troublesome skin and has just developed an allergic reaction to the dishwashing gloves AND the cleaning stuff he was using! I figured right from the start that DS is more than likely to have sensitive skin too, therefore avoiding sposies was the easy option.
Anyways...
WOHB: Wild Child - red, of course, and a red Tots Bots fleece cover. DS chose them both! Clever boy!
Yay BG!! Like NaNa said, how appropriate - cow outfits for an ox baby (who are fabbo btw, I should know ;) )
