Well, I finally bit the bullet and after recommendations on here I went and ordered THREE sandmans!!! :o OOOooerrrr $$. I am so excited about getting them but they have to be made up first so I wont get them for a few weeks. Soooo sick of dripping wet terry/booster combos that are falling of Bugalugs by morning. Ah so exciting!!!
Must ask more advice tho, sorry. I'm attemptint the nappy hunt for the first time and I cant find anything!!!!! I have tried a couple of minihunts but they have lead nowhere and some sites with no hints or anything... do I have to look at every single bloody product on their site to find a single icon??? Cant hack it if I do have to :rolleyes:

Maybe skip the ones you are having trouble with and move onto an easier one :) The ones at ozebaby are easier. Don't even attempt the extreme until you are more confident... that's what made me quit last year!! And now I have 44 icons and 4 extremes :)
Hi all, trying to stay awake for next cyclone update while studing = impossible so thought I would pop in here - man you gals can talk!
Gigi - trainers were the GF ones I was telling you about. We used them today with the inserts in like a nappy- need to put snaps on them as it was a real battle to pull them up with the insert in over her chunky thighs - imagine me holding her up by the pants and shaking her into them:lol: crotch seems pretty narrow to me - 13cm at it's widest. I'm going to try them without the insert tomorrow so will let you know. BTW she kept them dry - so maybe they will be good luck for us :shrug:
longies (woollen) and flongies (fleece) are great for over night nappies Katones.
what are flongies?
OUTER LAYER: looks just like a pair of trackpants, made out of polar fleece
INNER LAYER; either a pair of shorts, sewn in, out of microfleece, OR a "sling"
or ones made out of Malden mills fleece, only one layer.
i've also made a bumjumper version of them
you get an old 100% wool jumper and recycle it with scissors and a sewing machine
i made one layer the pants, one layer the sewn in shorts
lanolised it and used it as a bumjumper/flongie type thingo
worked great
( a true bumjumper is a recycled jumper made into longies e.g no shorts inner ).

nope, my memory did not remember you talking about the GF trainers, i'm surviving on not much sleep (can't stop worrying about our housing situation, it keeps me awake til 4am) - so my memory is not great.
so why are they funky? i looked on the GF site, plain fleece outer? or am i missing something?
did you get the medium or the large?
the description made it sound like they have a booster snapped inside them, so i assumed the booster would sit still while you put htem on your child. but from your description, the booster DOESN"T stay put. or are the snaps ONLY at one end?

i'm learning that bilby doens't need nappies when out (and it's so hard to put the nappy back on her, when she's standing up in the toilet room), but knickers are not enough, so she really does need trainers when out, for now, cos she has an aversion to "strange" toilets! Ours and childcare one - fine. any other toilet - ewwwww, no way jose. but i did get her to wee on ONE shopping centre loo just fine. no logic.
i wish i had a sewing machine, to sew bamboo boosters into the crotch of some knickers. so simple, wouldn't take me long, IF i had access to a machine. hmm, maybe i should SNAP them in instead? i know someone with a snap machine.
dh keeps talking about buying me a fancy sewing machine. if only he bought it instead of talking about it. all these mcn making fabrics i have, but no machine. so frustrated. and yes, i have trainer patterns all ready to go. sigh.
Gigi - I found the GF site a bit confusing but after I emailed her you can actually choose minky outer and fleece inner and the insert is bamboo - yes it is snapped on both ends but kinda buckles and bunches just a little - didn't bother ari but looked a bit bulky through the middle but it is a BIG thick insert - so will experiment with them tomorrow and see if I can make them a little trimmer.
Starbunz - backwards huh? Don't think I ever realised that????
Toilets - is there anything simialr different? height, smell, colour, room size maybe? My DS hates narrow public toliets - he always needs help when we use them and up until recently needed help to get on and off them but he has sensory processing/autism and I think the narrowness effected how he felt - does that make sense.
I am up way too late but I am so excited I might just pee my pants.

STARBUNZ - i worked out i had put them on backwards. i was thinking - snaps at the front. wondering why label would be at front. then i remembered, in the photos online, you dont see the label, or snaps. so that's what twigged me, i had been putting them on her back to front. :bangshead:

Saram - I am staying up for latest warning too. Dont want to be waking up to the roof blowing off if he does turn. I know it isn't likely but they have been wrong about his forecast direction multiple times today. And of course everyone has been clogging up the network so I spent 3 hours trying to get hold of DH and then he kept losing signal, so we just finally managed our conversation and he has gone to bed. Thankyou for your help today hun, I really appreciate it, and I am sure your DH was happier when you got home.

mum is throwing me a baby shower today with lots of family friends i've known since - well forever! she has decided to come up with some games and stuff - one with people trying to change a nappy one handed - she asked SIL for old sposies in small sizes (she has none - her youngest is four!) so asked me for "simple" clothies - hmmm - they're ALL simple - so she clarified - little ones with velcro not snap closure - and they have to be gender neutral as most of these people don't know Gremlin is pink! managed to find two microdoodlez - they better be enough - all the other little sized stuff either has snap closure - or is REALLY obviously girlified!
BG - you could take the girly ones and say you have borrowed a few if anyone asks. Boys can hide pink under their clothes anyway, and you have frinds that have young bubbas.
they'll survive with two! would be a bit too obvious seeing no one out here uses cloth so i'd have to say i borrowed from Melb friends which, given they are brand new, NO ONE would buy lol:

Cruddy night sleep last night, lots of ouchie cramps in my tummy, thought for a min there I was in labour. Very hard for me to walk he's so far down in my pelvis.

Anna - The cyclone hasn't missed us. It hasn't moved south enough for us to feel the force of it yet. It's still up near Cairns but expected to be closer to us tonight. It's category 3 now instead of 2 as well.

AnnaT - That's funny - that's exactly what I want to organise for the next GDUNH and Reusable nappy week, a real nappy hunt in T'ville - like a car rally :-) Ditto on the cyclone still coming, should come through between now and 7pm tonight but is running paraelle to the coast and we will probably miss the worst of it if it continues on it's course, we only hae damaging wind gusts, from Ayr it's destructive wind gusts. Oh and we are suppose to get some flooding too.

Gigi - trainers were much better without insert! Ari even pulled them up and down herself (a first) She did wee in them and the outside was damp but no pddles. I have cut the insert up so their is only one layer, just need to overlock it so I can use it.

I don't have all the fancy nappies you ladies have, just two itti's and the rest I've made myself. The itti's convinced me it was just as easy (and cheaper) to make them myself, and I keep missing store stockings anyway lol :rolleyes:
