hmmm they look really cool.
tra la laaaaaaa
Helen, i had a many shelved bookshelf next to the changetable. On each shelf, i had baskets. ($2 cheapies).
one basket for fitteds, next to a basket of covers, next to a tray of liners (staydry, natural, silk)
one basket for pockets (already assembled, with flushable liners inside)
one basket for A12 (boosting snapped in, flushable liners inside)
one basket for night nappies, one basket for night covers/woollies
one basket for day woollies
one basket for "going out nappies"
childcare bag always packed with same "childcare nappies", unless they were in the wash.
a set of stationery drawers to have the inserts, boosters, trifolds etc.
wetbags hanging from a hook on the wardrobe nearby.
I did my assembling/prepping of nappies in bulk, ahead of time, cos i needed to have the mcn all ready to put on a wriggly bub. i think it would have stressed me out too much, to be searching for stuff, and assembling it, WHILST bilby was on the changetable - but i do get anxious pretty easily - we're all different.
my home is like a bomb hit it, but i had the mcn organised, cos that's the only way i could cope. Not super neat, just grouped so i knew where stuff was - one less thing to stress me out. So it might sound super organised, but it wasn't obsessively neat or anything.
i went thru 19 months of bilby being awake every two hours - i was a walking zombie - so i had to make it super easy for myself.
NELLE
mcn of the moment seem to be:
bundle of buns (or something like that!)
fluffy bubs
genesa forge
pop ins
mini la la
i know nudding - i just listen to what everyone else is having fun putting on their bub's butt
ARIMEH
wot a man, wot a man, wot a mighty mighty GOOD man (channelling salt n pepa) you so crazy, i think i wanna have YOUR babeee
LIMEY
we had a matter of DAYS on the potty, before bilby decided that the TOILET was the only way to go. High step stool and toilet insert is what we have gone with. But she did need a potty to gain her confidence with, first - before transitioning. Bilbs is so short, even with an extra high step stool, her feet still dangle from the toilet! hence many accidents falling off said toilet.
potette is good for when you r somewhere w no loo eg beach/park.
alioops - i saw your link - that site has no amber necklaces in stock - but thanks for the link hon
katones - woot! blueberries 4 jack! have fun!
rayray - depends how much output he currently does, overnight.
Some training pants come as pockets, and you can boost those appropriate to your child's needs - which is what i would use if bilby was wetting overnight.
Some training pants come as aio's - so if they are NOT enough absorbency for your child overnight, i suppose you could lay in a booster, but that might move about.
If your child wakes during the night, i would be giving them a potty opportunity then.
We have a brolly sheet on the bed (so don't have to change sheets if she has an accident). Bilby is sleeping in blueberry trainers - but i haven't had them tested yet, cos she's been in them overnight for maybe 2-3 weeks, has not wet overnight yet. i'm sure it will happen at some point. but she goes to bed late, wakes up for 2am feed, so is not sleeping for 12 hours etc. every child is different.
some pocket style training pants:
happy heiny
bumwear
daddledoo
starbunz learnerz
(all of these have staydry inners)
another reason i use the blueberry trainers, is that they have the feel wet inner. apparent from wanting bilby to know when she is wet, her skin reacts to staydry inners. So you buy what suits your child. i was so over enthusiastic, i bought some that didn't suit her at all. (redface).
Imse Vimse cloth trainers - says it's not for naps or sleeps.
We have some noonee wilga for daytime too. i got them with feel wet inners.
wotbb: blueberry trainer (AIO style night nappy) with feel wet inner (cotton velour). size small - says it goes to 13kg, but bilby is 12kg, and i'm not positive she will still fit them at 13kg - we'll see.
Well so far so good and I feel like I am keepin up ;)
Today is an exciting day -
WOZB - his very first MCN - Choc & Blue stripe Ecobub pocket -gorgy .......
Sami - yay for first MCN!!! And such a lush pocket too ;)
Gigi - thanks for that song - I started singing that straight away....lol... I used to freakin love that song!!! Not as much as "push it" but I'm old ;)
No nappy news here. DH asked me this morning where all the nappies are cos we usually have heaps of them made up ready to go. And I'm like... ummm ... well some are in the dryer waiting to be put together... and I just sold about 15 ittis... soooo... uh... we don't have as many as we used to....lol
WOTB's: night nappy for her still - no idea for him.
Gigi - She will have them up in a couple of weeks. I am waiting ever so patiently :D
We have the highest step we could find too, and for a while it was still too short to put herself on the loo.
Mel - these days it's me asking where all the nappies are, coz I get a basket full of bits that dont match so half the nappies that had bits in the last basket I have no idea where DH has put them.
WOEB: Red Moo Moo CT (ancient and the velcro is dying) I think it might be the 1st CT we bought so a whole year with that velcro and now there are no more velcro ones.
c'mon pretty butterfly!!!!!! lol its all good i know when you are ready you will take a piccie!!!! no worries hun :)
Gigi..i can't wait to help Karen out at the expo!!!! ahhhh more fluff!!!! told hubby and he just rolled his eyes....and said kewl...
Fluff I'm helping out at the Cushie Tushies stand at the expo but on the Saturday! Well hopefully...I'm hoping I can get a sitter tho cause DH is going away for a few weeks.
Nothing nappy related here at all boring really!
ETA Wait I do have nappy news! I have received a quote for my BoB custom! Its going to be pretty exxy for only a small design but for something special it's worth it.
I have the older 2 kidlets on that weekend eej...and i don't think they would be very co-operative if i took them to the expo...on saturday...I am helping Karen out on Friday... at baby blossum :)
Hmmm.....i think another tooth is on it's way for Jack....HORRID poos!!!! oh my they are yuck!!! poor nappies....me thinks i should use liners right now....so he doesn't ruin my precious...fluff
Well my hubby has become an enabler too LOL
Today he rearranged my laundry so I have a bucket next to the sink, cleaned it, put in a new soappump, and moved my washing machine so I had plenty of room - what a man!!!!
He was quietly very amazed that when I took the first MCN off Zander after 2.5 hours that the inner was dry and lovely, and the insert had done its thing and trapped all the wee  ...
Just curious - why do ppl buy all different brands/manufacturers? Is it a try thing, preference, to have variety - and do you tend to stick with the same type eg fitted and covers or have a wide variety off all of them?
I have some a couple of IB's and a BG and BBH coming - to try them out before I decide what to go with - but worried I am going about this all wrong :wall::wall::doh:
Sam - for most of us I think, having different types and brands of nappy (after already finding ones that work for you) is 10% trying something new and 90% the desire for variety of fluff and gorgeousness! lol
If my hubby had his way we would own 55 IBs and BGs and nothing else...lol But I like the variety.
I also find that some work better in some situations and some in others - we live in WA so I very rarely have ot cover her nappies with clothes, so having pretty ones is a want for me :)
When I do cover them with clothes, I like trim fitting nappies...DH prefers Fitteds and covers, I don't...
lol...so I think the rule is buy as many as you can afford
But be careful - with such an enabling hubby you dont want to take advantage and turn that enabling to credit card banning ;P
SamiH...me...it was try different ones to see which worked for Jack...the ones that didn't work so well for Jack are back ups...didn't buy any more of them...or i sold the ones that didn't work on...so i could buy more of ones that do work.... also i think it is variety aswell...different nappies, different thicknesses etc...for under clothes etc...
Ditto Lime Sam. I have days where stuffing nappies or using fitteds+covers is way beyond my effort requirements so all-in-ones are my nappy of choice, other days its fitteds and covers, we have certain brand nappies just for daycare etc etc Mostly though its just for the fun of having all different types, colours, textures lol
Might have to get me some more Cushie coutures, they are awfully nice to touch
Well hopefully i will get my Maz cover i picked up at Millaruby... andi will be exitedly awaiting my other maz stuff... also should get the Lou lou then thursday i will pay for my layby and the following week will be another good fluffy week,...
WOTB- CT camo
I have just taken off my first CT couture (choc with green spots *ahhhh*) - and am still amazed at the absorbency even though I had only washed it twice beforehand.
Q - with ones like this with the snap in - can you get longer out of the nappy if you snap in a new liner after a shorter amount of time, or to wash the whole thing every time? No such thing as a silly question (I hope lol).
Thanks again
WOZB - no more MCN's :( until fluffy mail this week ;)
Sami - yeah that is one of the extra bonuses of the AI2s...If they arent soiled, or the shells arent smelly, then you just put a new booster in and go again :)
And never anything as a silly question!
That is why I have twice as many boosters as shells for my snap ins.
Sami - Some AI2's have all of the boosting in the snap in bits, but there is some bamboo in the shell of the CT. I have PMed you anyways ;)
Anna - Did you find it? Sorry I kept losing signal, they have just put in 3G on the other side of the mount and I think they are doing something to the tower that is line of sight so I have hardly any signal inside lately.
WOTBs: I would assume CTs. Didn't pay that much attention during the tanties we have had today :wall:
Hi Everyone
DH has just agreed that MCN's are the way to go with our next bubba and I am new to this whole thing. I was just wondering where to start with a newborn due in the next two months. Should I start buying up now or wait and see what fits her best?
Thanks!
PS - forgive my ignorace... what is the difference between hemp and bamboo inserst????
Welcome to the thread Ryatha!
Okies. Nappy material 101 :)
Order of absorbancy, least absorbant --> most
Microfibre
Flannellette
Bamboo
Hemp
Order of moisture take-up, slowest --> fastest
Hemp
Bamboo
Brushed fabric
Terry (loopy fabric)
Microfibre.
So Microfibre is the fastest material to absorb liquid, but doesn't hold much.
Hemp holds lots of liquid, but takes longer to absorb it.
Mind you, some kids are a little sensitive to Hemp.
Some boosters have microfibre over hemp/bamboo so you get the best of both worlds.
DON'T put microfibre next to bub's bits - you'll irritate them. Which is why Polar Fleece is used - it is "stay dry" in that allows liquid to pass through to absorbant layers below. So you could do polar fleece then microfibre then hemp/bamboo.
WoHB - BBH with PUL cover. Knew I should have put a fleecey cover on him, he's asleep.
Brilliant Kazbah - in that one post you have helped me understand what all the websites are going on about. Thank you so much! Ok so now it is just working out what suits us regarding AI1's or AI2's or the inserty things... I know, not up to scratch on the terminology but I'm sure I'll get better...
How good are the one-size MCN's?
 honestly who really does that!!!!! come on...I know I just cant be bothered and toss the whole lot into the nappy bin
now on a different note...ive got a wiff today......whos UTD??????????
and who the hell know's Benny and someone that worked with fish????? arhhhh does my head in somedays (stupid third eye crap)
have had an extremely busy weekend.......spent today with my mama and papa (mum and dad) was really nice and relaxing until my butt started hurting! Who knows anything about roids cause my butt is killing me and before you say anything NO Jed does not go there!!!!! GROSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats made for things to come out of not to prop them back up
ok enough from moi.....off to tie off some ends and hit they hay
WOMB - Teddybear sandman, half a tube or cream and skull fleecie M-A-L cover
WOVB - fuscia IB
Um LS - I do that, but I don't use the shell immediately, I let it air in between wears, alternate 2 shells with inserts. Or use them over fitteds as well.
Maz - poor you and 'roids. Have you had any burst yet? That's always fun
Not me UTD, haven't O'd yet. Or DTD! Hmm, might go to bed.
OOOOHhhhh and how cute was Maddy today? Just gorgeous, I love the chocolate cow babylegs! Sal and her looked so gorgeous in matching amber ... which reminds me, i'm off to put in a new order.
WoHB - same as before :D
Oh gawd i havent been taking my pill and DP and i arent being that careful (even though he would freak out at the thought of more babies... Would love it to be me but not my luck.
Fluff related... Maz... Thanks so much got ur msg... YAY for fluff...
So mice not tp have to wash every couple of nap changes... cant wait to get the rest of my stuff so i can go awhole day without washing... LOL.
Maz - I don't know but I should probably talk to the Dr about them tomorrow, have had suspicions about them since Em was born. I have the same rule ;). I have had the whiff lately too, but I tend to get the whiff right around conception time when I get it, so hmmmm, I KNEW someone would be pg!! For you to sniff it too, now I know my Pregdar must be working if yours is going off.
Ryatha - Most of our nappies are OSFA, I havent tried them on a NB yet, but for the other 2 they have been great. Very helpful to not have to work out who's is who's. I also prefer bamboo because it is naturally antibacterial.
DH was supposed to be working tomorrow (PH) but they decided to cancel the course that some of the guys were doing (he wasn't but would have had to be in the workshop ) so he has it off now!!. So we will get on top of all the nappies and find all the bits he has misplaced.
Maz - I'd love to say it's me, but I'm not O-ing at all lately :wall:
hmm roids aren't fun are they, hope they settle down soon. All I know is that my doctor suggested "pushing them back in" - sorry to sound disgusting. The creams work too.
No nappy news - well except the fact that I'm proud they dried completely on the clothes horse inside within 3hrs - was threatening rain.
WOPB: sposie. Daddy did it. Been waking up every night for the past week pulling at his nappy. We don't have night nappies, but he's rarely ever out-wet a boosted BBH. Want to buy a few night naps, daddy won't allow it.
Well my BIL is Benny, but I'm not UTD.... but funny enough I am RIGHT on conception time, but we are being very careful....
HGL, putting up the photos now.... including Harmony in her fab Maz cover!!!!!:dance:
Some sort of apron.. he ownes a printing and inking shop....
Better not be me Maz, not using any hormonal contraception and I let Dh break the drought the other night......................frick Im scared now lol
Ali - I have cruddy reception too. My phone batt died then the boys chucked tanties so I cut and run, will try again on Thursday. I wish I could sew though cause I saw some cute fabric that would be great for nappies!
Maz I put another snapin into my itti shells if it's not wet. I have a few spare sets. :nahnah:
I know a butcher called Benny but he wears a blue apron... :o
i'm not UTD and if i am it is a miracle....would be nice though!!!! everyone pray for a miracle for me!!!!!
HGL......FB NN pics are great thanks heaps!!!!!

WOJB ~ mottled orange Fluffy Bubs
All this talk of somone UTD has made me very clucky for newborn fluff... DP would flip out no doubt... i have been talking bout it a bit lately... DD is almost 1... with my PCO might tale us a while to actually conceive so i would prefer to try ASAP then wait another yr then it take another 2 to fall preg...
Eagerliy waiting my parcel man... he usually comes so early in th morning.. if he isnt here by 10 then i know it wont be today...
So excited about this weeks and next weeks fluff... off to go PM Mel for my total... i think its about $200... but i think now i dont NEED anymore...
For those of u who have a good stash now do u still buy and add to it regularly or only if something comes up that u r interested in. i have enough for 2 days now. once i get my covers (i will be able to use my flats again... 10 months of Big W covers iwill be in heaven when i get my Maz ones...) and then add my layby and i should be right for 3 days. DD will be in DC soon... (just 1 day a week cos i need a day i can get everything done too hard with DS) i spoke to them and i have actually convinced them to use them... (they supply sposies) What do u all use as DC nappies???
I am SO SORRY Fluff, I thought HGL wanted photos of FB..... I was so blah this weekend....

ETA- I just got fluffymail... YAY,..... Gorgeous Lou Lou... and my Maz cover from Caddie... OMG Maz I LOVE IT... Pink minkee with gorgeous embrodered butterfly with bling... I am in love with it... LOVE these butterflies...
So last night I went to the movies with DH so left DD with Nan which I was already nervous about because bub doesn't really like the MIL she always cries when she picks her up but MIL done too much complaining about my mum getting to see her more often  as in, maybe an extra 10 minutes a week when I drop in (Hey, to start with bub thinks Oma (My Ma) is hilarious maybe because Oma walks her around and plays with her and doesn't leave her to cry on the couch!!! (Slight vent) Anyhoo - how a woman who has had 4 kids can be so clueless is beyond me. I left her for 3 hours, with a dry boosted BBH hemp and fleece cover on, I come back she's taken the nappy off and it is only just wet on the top layer of the boosting, and put a sposie on, and put it on BACKWARDS at that. So Pee leeked all over my couch when I lay her down at home for her dreamfeed from giant gapage at her back. Grrrrrr.
I have to sent the 2 coutures I ordered back for repairs today and I am going to miss them. One of them had the wrong snap on, and the other one she wore once and went to put it on her yesterday and a snap just came completely out of the material - just my luck, and I love them too so am sad to go without them for a while.
Really hope all my BBH stuff comes early this week, love the way their nappies fit so adjustably around skinny bubba. Come on fluffy mail!!
I also reuse the shells (after an air) if they aren't soiled. They also come in handy when washing time comes, cause the inserts take about 1 day to dry for me, but the shells are almost dry when they come out of the machine, so if you have extra inserts, you can almost use the nappy straight away after washing
Maz - funny you say that cause my mum told me I looked pregnant the other day.... eeekkk!
WOHB - green BP
Someone come fold my nappies cause i just cant be arsed
im not saying anything else about pg's or things I see....hehehehehehehe
fluffy mail today.....twins in cloth thomas set for Vyolett's birthday pressy (she loves Thomas) - some bamboo from sammi :) - minkee (oh yummy) - and crap I cant remeber the 4th
I have 2 sick kids :( - Mateauz has green snot to boot and OMG his nappies  thats what i get for making pumpkin soup
i got fluffy mail today - woot!! twinkle lily layby with some purddy embroidered nappies! got some raw silk liners to have here just in case bubba reacts to any of the different materials - always forward planning!
i think i'm almost set - but i do still need nappy bucket (or bin - still contemplating what is better value/easier to use), have plenty of wipes, lotsa nappies, moo goo.... anything else i need to have to be prepared for this little bundle to arrive (apart from HER of course - and DH being home wouldbe a huge advantage!)
